I'm sure that was you at one point (or still is). Being pissed cause a lower level player is playing and you want to "show off" is pretty low and stupid IMO. When i see a beginner playing, i just wait for my turn. Nothing really goes on in my head besides "I remember when i was at this level" ect.

I think of your attempted genocide of the English language.

Actually, I usually don't think anything negative towards a player that's not as good as me unless they start talking trash about their "superiority". If they don't start anything, they're just another player to me and I have no problem with them.

Usually I 'will' for them to do better, because I don't like seeing people do badly. If they're getting boos, I hold my breath and will for them to get perfects. I hate seeing people fail. Maybe because I know I hate it when I fail at an arcade and someone's watching me.

Also, I want to encourage, not discourage, more people to play the game and if they fail then they might get discouraged and never try it again. If they pass, it's entirely different; even if it was just barely a pass, they're still MUCH more likely to go 'hey, that was kinda fun' and do it again than if they fail. If they fail, rather, they're more likely to go 'screw this Guitar Hero's better' and leave after only one song. (This actually happened. It made me kinda sad.)

When I watch people play and they "Suck" (I don't care what level anyone is on. We were there too), I get interested. It's not as exciting seeing a AAAer AAAing (though it's cool and I would like to record such happenings) than seeing someone almost fail PARANOiA Respect and are hanging on a thread on Basic. It's feeling how they feel, the tense feeling of almost failing and having to recover quick or suffer failing. I'd record that stuff, but people don't understand how intense it is and probably won't bother and just keep aiming for their 99%s on In the Groove or AAAs on DDR.

Seriously, the best thing to watch IMO is someone struggling, overcoming, and achieving something new. A milestone in their journey.

Ninja is right. That is the journey right there that the best players had to overcome at one point.

It's almost like reliving the experience behind that.

A long time ago a friendly adversary of mine and myself were competing to see who would be the first people from our area to beat max 300. Nobody played with the bar - so you can imagine how draining it was to keep playing it no bar while trying to beat it. I was the only one that passed So Deep that day... lol... with a D. It was thrilling though.

The first time you play an oni course, and you die so suddenly, it's mind blowing.

The first time you pass an oni course is pretty thrilling too. E7.gif

I remember the first time I passed Max 300-- I couldn't speak for the next fifteen minutes I was breathing so hard... think I got a 'C' on it. Ah, I miss those days. They just had to get rid of the arcade in the mall, didn't they...? I miss my MAX2... E2.gif

Sorry, tangent. Anyway, I totally get what RandomNinja is saying. Watching people AAA things is cool and all, but seeing someone get perfect after perfect can get pretty boring... seeing someone hanging on by a thread is much more exciting and exhilirating, and it's a lot sweeter when that person passes the song, too.

I feel such people should be encouraged. And Ninja's right. I enjoy watching people struggle anc achieve more than just seeing another tristar/aaa.

Also, are you under the age of 12?

It's good to support people, even beginners. We all use to be at that level. Helping newbs helps build up the community and proves that we (the more experianced players) are not all jerks.

its called public property. You don't own the machine. If you don't like it, stop doggy and pay $15,000 for a machine.

Stop doggy eh?

Lol, but yeah, stop female dogging and get your own machine if you have a problem with people starting. I mean, I don't mean to say this so bluntly, but people start somewhere and whether or not you think they suck, you're gonna have to let them play. Sooner or later, they won't suck (and they might even surpass you). And nobody really cares when someone else shows off. You might even get the opposite result in the end if all you do is wait to show off.

But to answer your question, if I didn't already, I think "Wow, back in the day..."

I feel kinda bad for saying this, but I'm usually thinking, "Hey, maybe I'll get on sooner if they fail." erm.gif

I'm just impatient. I think that way no matter what difficulty they're playing.

I just cheer them on. Not out loud or anything, but to myself. When they aren't that good, it's easier to tell what song might be a challenge for them, and it's always interesting to see when a player is challenging him/herself.

For skilled players, it's usually about PA, and to be honest, surveying for greats isn't all that interesting unless it's a AAA. When the challenge comes down to pass or fail, as it usually does for the more beginner of players, it tends to be more interesting since more is at stake. So whenever I see that, I can't help but hope they succeed, since no one likes to fail the song altogether.

I'll admit, I used to hope they fail so I can start playing out of impatience, too, but after getting used to waiting for my turn, it was easier to get over it.
