9s and 10s are pretty easy for me. I have the FA to get consistently high scores on a lot of songs. But, on songs that require fast footspeed, I get 6-10% less than I do on songs of the same foot rating. I struggle to pass Determinator when I've tristarred Delerium and Energizer. Euphoria gives me many more problems than Summer does. My feet just refuse to move that fast.

I suppose some people just have some kind of supernatural gift that allows them to move that fast (KANJI), but for the ones who don't, how can footspeed be improved? Any specific tips other than whoring/practicing the song to death? E1.gif

Bad for the machine and bad for your legs.

Footspeed is more about technique than actual leg speed. Think about how far you're moving. If you can minimize the distance your feet move, you shorten the time in between steps, and this allows you to hit faster steps. Since Determinator is mostly just bursts, this doesn't require too much leg strength. Stuff like Return of Salieri and Strangeprogram that have steps that fast for extended periods of time require a lot of leg strength on top of really good technique.

Half the battle is learning to not move haha.

Pope's got it down! the trick is to move as LITTLE as possible, and to do that requires leg strengeth, to resist movement. So playing any fast songs with extended streams will improve leg strength, but you can't just play one or two, you have to play harder songs quite a bit more often.

It's a tried and true method. It even worked for me.

You know how when you get so tired that you start to half-ass some songs by standing on the brackets between the arrows and just barely move your legs while touching the arrows?

Do that, only step harder.

I didn't ask for "practice, practice, practice" because I know that's the standard for anything. It's not specific advice. This is specific advice:

Pretend that if you hit outside the first few inches of the arrows, you die.

Who pretends.....i put nitroglycerine on the outside of the arrows, just to make sure i don't screw up. Trust me, it's really good incentive to get good.

So you couldn't think of anything even though some of these seem pretty obvious, other than Blake's idea.

No, seemed like you did, but theres a chance I read into it wrong. But isn't there a couple of threads on how to help your foot speed?

Now I went to search and typed in "foot speed" even though that isn't specific I found 83 pages that mentioned it. I know all of them aren't related to helping people out but the few i did click on gave tips. So advice: Use the search function.

Still, looking through a lot of them, most of them deal in the strengths/weaknesses thread (saying "my footspeed is bad") or the ITG accomplishments thread (usually praising Tim for his awesome footspeed). The search button isn't as helpful as many people think.

I'm not looking for a fight. I just made a topic because it was irritating me, and I got some good tips that will help.

Eventually i can send some stuff to you Jeff, and then you too Tenchi, PM me your Email addresses (if you have email) and i'll try to send you some sims......and do you want like "really hard" stuff, that would just be "really hard" to pass....like emerald sword and OML difficulty (or easier), or do you want the HOLYCRAPRIDICULOUS fast stuff that i sent Soul for his footspeed and stamina??? (like strangeprogram, V.Beta, Gaussian blur v2, and Mountain King....yea, ridiculous)
