I am getting ready to order two Cobalt Flux's and I am looking for a USB converter (mainly for SM or ITGPC) that will be compatable with Vista.

I've ran into problems with USB stuff with the pads most people have never heard of, so I am wondering if anybody here whom is running Vista with SM and CF's can tell me which adapters they are using.

I already did a bunch of searching and nothing came up, Cobalt Flux's forums are down so I couldn't search there.

Hahahahahahahahahaha.
Have you tested ITGPC and SM to see if they actually work on Vista? I've yet to have heard of a Vista PS2 to USB. As far as I know, the only Vista-made game controllers are the 360 controllers.

As far as compatibility, Vista is only a slight step above a Mac. It lacks alot of the drivers XP had.

This one claims to work on Vista without drivers:

I can't attest to the validity of that. It doesn't mention on the box any compatibility with Vista. That was all I could find. A Google search mostly finds PS/2 to USB.

Vista is bad, but not that bad lol. SM/ITGPC works on Vista without any problems actually. But then again I messed with the OS a little to disable a bunch of the unnecessary stuff Vista comes with.

That is the adapter, right?

Look on stepmania's website. The adapter that is best for CFs is posted on there. The other ones will most likely have a hard time registering simultaneous steps. A PS2 controller can't register some simultaneous directions, as the design of the D-Pad doesn't allow left and right at the same time and the analog sticks don't either. For that reason the adapters aren't all designed to allow it.

I haven't tested my CF yet, but i got a cheap usb converter (literally $7 including shipping from amazon) but im running vista at the moment and my KOC Drummania controller works perfectly on it. That says a lot because as the CF, it is as custom ps2 controller.

Found it, this is what i have http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-PC-USB-Gamepad-Converter/dp/B000F6BGXY/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-0006268-3492952?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1192046509&sr=8-1

didn't require me to install anything aside from plugging it in (that was done auto though)

I would like to test Stepmania with it, but i'll get back to you on that

[edit]: after reading the thread more noticed something about more than 2 directions registering. Im not sure about my converter, but i do know i can register any 3 buttons together on my DM controller, if that helps
