I like the song selection in ITG and I like the mines and hands options but there are many things that make the PS2 version of the game just seem rushed or incomplete, in my opinion. These are as follows.

1: Slow load times.
2: When many arrows are present or the song is sufficiently fast, there is sometimes an amount of skipping that easily throws off the dancer
3: In-game text is way too small
4: Arrows are harder to read than DDR or Stepmania arrows, no matter which arrow skin you choose
5: Arrows always scroll away from you or towards you, even slightly, as they are scrolling up the screen. You can't get just a simple flat scroll as in DDR no matter which option you choose.
6: Stepzone and arrows much smaller than they should be with no way to make them bigger
7: Many songs have been changed either through bizarre censorship or through unobvious reasons
8: Event mode will take you back to title screen if you lose one song instead of taking you back to song select.
9: You are forced to use only one of the two top diagonals for song selection and option selection instead of being allowed to use either one you wish (as in DDR) (You are forced to use the 'X' I think)
10: When you fail a song, you are not instantly taken out of the song. You either must play it through or you must step off and wait a few seconds to let many misses accrue. There is no option to change this.

All of those take away from the game's fun factor, IMO.

I realize it will probably never be fixed and there will probably never be released any more ITG console games and I am glad I have the game. These are just some things in the game that annoy me a lot.

1. No, I completely disagree. The load times seem normal for me.
2. That happens like once every 20 songs.
3.Who cares?
4. Hahahaha
5. Overhead?
6. What?
7. Name 6.
8. OMG, the game fails because of that.
9. Wow, talk about nitpicky. Seriously, who cares about that anyway?
10. False. When you fail, your life depletes but you can still complete the song. Just press start to get to the song wheel.

Really, a lot of these make it look like you're joking.

To shurf

1: Try playing any DDR PS2 game. Now try playing ITG PS2. See the huge difference in song load times? It really is huge. The only logical explanations for you not seeing huge load times are if you have a modified PS2 that you added extra memory to or something like that or if you really are that unobservant.
2: No. It happens consistently with any songs on high enough levels if those songs have lots of arrows on screen at once or if they scroll fast enough. What seems to be happening is it is running into memory issues, mainly because it is using too much of it. It's the same reason for 1. The game is a RAM hog.
3: Uh, people who read? Yeah. So if you don't read or you never change options, maybe you wouldn't care.
5: Yeah, even Overhead is not perfectly flat-on. It is slightly slanted still.
6: Play any DDR PS2 game. Now play ITG PS2. See the difference in stepzone size and arrow size? Probably not if you can't even see the difference in load times between them.
7: Ha! "Name 6" So you agree. Honestly I'm not going to bother there. You already agreed they messed up some of the songs.
8: OMG maybe people don't like to wait for the load times to get back again ZOMGSTFUZOMGFUSBALL@!
9: Um, maybe people who typically used the 'O' instead of the 'X' for song selection care? Seriously, how hard would it be for the programmers to enable both buttons to be used in the game?
10: What? You say "False" and then you basically repeat what I said. Yes, exactly that is the problem. When you fail you should be taken out of the song--period. It doesn't have to be by default but there should be an option to allow this.

1. Its fine
2. Never had this problem at all.
3. K, move closer or get glasses. Shouldn't matter since you're just supposed to hit arrows.
4. Opinionated, I find it easier.
5. No they don't?
6.Do you mean the timing?
7. I don't see why that matters
8. Then don't lose.
9. Who cares? This isn't DDR just get used to one button.
10. 30 misses, hold down start and it should take you out.

I can't believe you're serious on some of this, or that some of the small things take away from the fun factor.

The loading time for ITG is slower than DDR. Yep.

In ITG, i can choose to give up and repick my song. Something you can't do in DDR. haha.

OMG! In DDR Extreme JP, I can't use the X button to pick songs! Noooo!

You guys are nuts. The load times in ITGPS2 are HORRIBLE.

The rest of his complaints are a bunch of uneducated DDR-player-turned-ITG-player junk. You can back out of a song without waiting for 30 misses or a fail by holding the start button (IIRC). Change your perspective mod to Overhead to eliminate the strange perspective scroll. You're out of your mind if you think the arrows are harder to read. Arrows much smaller, what?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that not many people play ITGPS2 in the first place, so... yeah.

So true, I broke out my copy the other night to play it some and I couldn't stand the loading times.

The loading isn't unbearable. Sure, it's no DDR, but waiting 5 seconds for the song wheel to pop up isn't exactly torture.

Fanboys are hillarious, haha.

Look, the game's not perfect. Many otherwise good games have some imperfections. Pointing them out does not make one ignorant or stupid or a hater or anything else. Deal with it.

It's actually quite amusing to see some of you try to justify what essentially are flaws simply because you can't bear to think your precious game could possibly have any flaws, so they must be features, right?

I am a fan of dance games in general. I also readily admit they have flaws and it doesn't bother me either.

The difference between the fan and the fanboy is the fan knows when a complaint is legitimate whereas a fanboy will try to spin it into something else (a desirable feature, even!), and frequently become offended that any complaint was issued at all. Heck, I must be an ITG hater, eh? Yep. I play ITG and enjoy the general concept of dance games. That means I'm a hater. E1.gif

In case any of you got the wrong impression that it destroys the game beyond my wanting to play it, you couldn't be farther from the truth. I enjoy the game in spite of those shortcomings. That still doesn't mean those don't annoy me though.

I didn't really see anything fan boyish at all.

Then why make a thread about it about how it annoys you a lot? Or in case you forgot what you said

Plus IMO these kind of contradict themselves

Haha. Take the upper corner diagonals for example, or the slow load times, or basically anything else I mentioned. See how some people replied to it as if it is somehow good for it not to be implemented (I don't use that button anyway) or that it is somehow good to have a slow load time (catch your breath) ,etc... These are just excuses for a bad design. Lacking functionality doesn't somehow make the design better. Furthermore, why defend a bad design instead of just admitting that, yeah, it has flaws? Yeah, this thread pretty much reeks of fanboyism.

BX^3 wrote:

Um, it's called voicing an opinion. Because something isn't perfect means you can't enjoy it? I certainly can still enjoy it but not as much as if whatever the problem was wasn't there. Not a difficult concept, IMO.

Why would I bother letting other people know of this? Perhaps others have experienced the same annoyances. Maybe I wanted feedback? Why do you post any thread?

BX^3 wrote:

How? In spite of the shortcomings, I like the game. Say I would like the game 100% if it was flawless. Maybe I like it 80% because of the flaws. Just an example. But I still would like it, just not as much as without the flaws.

No. They replied who cares. There's a difference between "because it's better" and "who cares".

You know what I really hate? people like YOU who come onto forums and purposefully criticize a game even though you like it just so you can flame bait. Your first post has so much flame bait in it I almost threw up, and seriously, i absolutely despise people who do this kind of crap so that they think they can look cool.

I'm sure your going to bash me and crap and say you're just expressing your "opinion" or whatever but what I see is flame bait. If you deny it i'm still not going to believe you, Why?

First: You post on a forum with OBVIOUS "fans" of the game and bash a perfectly good game that has flaws (that everyone knows about)

Second: You know that people will defend the game, so instead of just accepting the fact that everyone already knew this (and the fact that they pointed out your own mistakes) so instead of admitting to being wrong, you flame bait a second time by calling people fanboys.

Third: you notice you've flame baited AGAIN so you state that the game is good, but you continue to defend your point, flame baiting for a THIRD TIME.

Either your IQ is around 80 or your purposefully here trying to prove that this game is crap.

By the way, i'm not going to even bother answering your 10 points because only about two of them are even valid arguments.

God I hate people like you.

And yes, i know i just flame baited myself. So what?

Umm... is this for real? Listen, "big deal" to almost every point you mentioned..

Arrows aren't smaller.. the modifications I can understand if you're accustomed to something like Note or Vivid (or Rainbow, for SN players), but when you started, you most probably didn't know what those mods were, so.. its not like you can't readjust. Load times, yeah, but... if you are really complaining that heavily, put the game on an HD and use HD Loader. Overhead is EXACTLY like DDR's scrolling and the button selections? What? I mean.. if it were a FIGHTING GAME, well alright, complain all day, but... hit the button and move your feet -- what's the issue?

This is ridiculous. Requesting a lock, please.

The area that arrows are displayed in is quite preferable in ITG. It gives you more time to react, which is why I put an ITG theme on my Stepmania. The arrows are also not harder to read, I find them much easier to read. Next you're going to say that Swedish is hard to read just because you don't know how (spec). Try getting used to it. ITG also has x2.5 which DDR sorely lacks. The removal of the bar at the bottom of the screen maximizes play area. The engine ITG runs on is overall superior, allowing for more accurate placement of notes and much more comfortable reading and play. Being forced to use X means nothing as chances are most people learned to use it that way unless JP releases were their first DDR games (which isn't likely). Yes, the censorship is stupid. Oh well.

And lastly, Christ you're a fucking idiot.
