Edit button much? Hope you manage to get the pads working with heavy. Also if you're going for arcade feel you might as well go with....arcade sensors!
I would have just used the edit button, but that would have made for an EPIC POST, which isn't what I was really going for. E10.gif

Arcade Sensors are expensive, and I figure that expenses that can be cut without negatively affecting play SHOULD be cut. That's part of our philosophy. The DT500's should be able to be fully customisable, which would include what type of sensor they would use, because the DT500 will be basically our luxury pad. E1.gif

EDIT:

Got a ways to go. =(

Well, I haven't been able to do much with the pads, but I have almost everything I need now.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to find 1"x11"x5' boards. I found some 1.25"x11"x52", which is ALMOST perfect, for $5 each, but I need 1", not 1.25". A little to their right, there were some that were the right dimensions, but $30 a board.

In the future, I'm gonna just use 1/2" fir plywood.
Hell, if there were enough room in the van today, I would have just gotten a 4'x8' board for $26 and had it cut into a 44"x48" piece and a 52"x48" piece.

However, today at Lowe's, I got 40 count 3" long, 1/4" diametre bolts, 20 lock nuts, 50 nuts, and 10 count 1.5" long, 1/4" diametre bolts. Cost me $15 in all, but they'll do the job.

Here's a quick list of what all I still need to do:
1. BUY some more wood, some diodes, a paint-on sealant (still looking), buttons for the control box, and some 5-pin plugs for the CB.
2. CUT aforementioned wood, metal covers for non-button panels, copper sensors, all the wires, metal corner brackets to hold the pressure chambers together, and the wood and metal components for the control box.
3. ASSEMBLE everything.
4. TEST the pad.
5. RECORD data and videos.
6. !???
7. PROFIT!

EDIT: Here are a couple pictures of the bolts I've got. They should work reat. I've worked with bolts like this before, and they will definitely be tough enough. I'm using 1/2" bolts for the bars though, just to be on the safe side.

Also, the DT200 prototype will NOT have any of the borders or a bar, since I'm still not sure which way to go on the bar and didn't cut the base large enough to fit borders or a bar fin on them.

Here's a few songs I'm looking at testing it on (in order):
Utopia Hard (make sure it works right with jacks)
Xuxa Hard (make sure it can handle streams)
Pandemonium Hard (just 'cause I want to see if I can pass it yet)
Hopefully, the construction will go smoothly and it will work flawlessly. E1.gif

Just wanted to get it out there that I'm seriously opening registration for distributors now. Distributors will be listed on the site and expected to meet specifications they provide. Read the first post for yummy details.

Also, 1-year anniversary in 2 months and 3 days. Hm. . . I wonder if Charlie's got any plans?

Not on November 26th. E10.gif
But, like the DDR Pads, they are, in the end, just boxes full of stuff that we didn't make from raw materials, so it could be some time early 2008. Don't expect to be able to get anyone a tofucab for christmas though. A DT600 or DT200, probably (hell, the DT600's should have been available LAST christmas, if I had been more efficient), but not a DT500 or TofuCab.

Alderaic, you actually bring up a good point. Distributors should be capable of meeting timely deadlines, which is why, if you check the merchandise page right now, you'll notice that I'm only listed as a designer; 'cause I can draw to a deadline, but I can't build to a deadline. However, those in the PNW need not fear; I have friends who can construct them faster and better than I can. E15.gif

I'm not sure. Probably around $1k-5k, depending on the cabinet.

You know, you could just make TofuCabs. (I'd be willing to change the name E15.gif)

Not really. I have some layout designs for the StepMania cabinet, but nothing you can really build from. I can sketch up some basic blueprints and have them ready in a couple of days, or I could put together some full-on official blueprints and you can order them for $50 (these wouldn't be available any time soon) if those don't do it for ya.

Here's an ooooold concept sketch of the StepMania cab, if you just want something to go off of:

Well, no really epic updates to give.

Here's what I have been working on though:
-Started making a control box
-Rebuilt the base for the DT600 w/ wiring layer (worked very well during initial testing.)
-Found a product to use for the sealant and foam for the DT200s' pressure sensors. (Great Stuff. I tested it out and I think that it should work, although it needs to be applied with care.)

The control box will be able to attach to USB without a converter, right?

Well, not the PS2 control box.

I don't currently have access to the programming personnel required to make a multi-system CB. The closest I can come is throwing a chip for each system in and have a plug for each.

But a USB control box would certainly hook up to the computer as a plug-n-play controller.

So are the Dancing Tofu pads still alive, or should I just go and buy a Cobalt Flux?

i actually would recommend a BS, unless you dont care about arcade style, then they both are fine

no offense either Tofu, or you could always wait for DTs to start ..after almost a year of waiting.. E13.gif
