Hi,

I bought a cobalt flux and received my ems ubs adapter.
I play itg pc and when i step on an arrow , it reacts about 3 secs after.
Saw it was cause global offset called timingwindow in itg...
I keep trying to adjust it but it still lags and arrows bug.

Also, how can i improve the sensibility of the arrows and wich is the best way to clan the pad with home stuff?

thanks

Yeah, I did and it's really easy. I built mine in about 4 hours (not counting drying time.) I used 13/23" plyboard, but I'm just fighting carpet with spongy padding.

I'd recommend using 3/4" oak plyboard in your case. It's expensive, tho. An 8'x4' sheet costs 40some bucks at the local Lowe's (I'm in GA), but that stuff won't give much and it looks pretty good. Alternatively, you could use subflooring (they keep that stuff in the same area as the plyboard), it'll definitely solve your prob, but it's butt ugly and unfinished... cheaper tho. Let me know if you need detailed instructions, I'll help ya out as much as I can.

Well, I'm a really cheap guy and really don't want to resort to building a base unless I have to. E10.gif Would 3 or 4 layers of cardboard do the trick? I can get cardboard easily at work. I just don't think that I should have to pay $40-$50 extra just to play on a $350 pad.

I hear ya. My stuff is sitting in the middle of my living room and I had to fight my hubby to put them there to begin with, so I had to make it look professional, so he'd let me leave them there....

Anyhoo, IMHO cardboard won't work, no matter how many layers you use, the stuff is soft, and depending on how heavy you are, it'll eventually just give too much and needs to be replaced, but I suppose anything smooth is better than a bumpy surface... then there is the thing about the cardboard layers sliding while you play, least you'd have to do is glue them together. It's kinda like the carpet thing, everybody says playing on carpet isn't good, that the CFs eventually will warp and loose sensitivy or crack. I look at the base as 'protecting my $750 investment', rather than an inconvenience. And yeah, it kinda sucks, having to shell out more moolah after a major purchase like that...

Since you're playing in the basement, I'd just use the cheapest 1/2" - 3/4" stuff you can get your hands on (it starts at like 10 bucks for a 4x8 sheet). Heck, maybe somebody you know has some wood lying around you can use. I don't even know how big the bumps are or how uneven a surface we're talking here.... 1/2" may work in your case, it will still give a little (the one I built does), but it's all evenly distributed, so I think the warping possibility is less.

That's my 2 cents, maybe somebody else has some ideas that won't break the bank...

what a surprise...it's been over a month and my mod kit is still "being built" Cobalt flux's work force must be even worse than the retirement home I work in where we are understaffed every single shift.

They don't exactly update it very often... I received my Flux two weeks ago from today and yet the site still says my pad is "awaiting shipment".

guyl3, I have heard some reports of Cobalt Flux dance pads not playing well with some particular PS2 to USB adapters. This may be causing the "lag" you are experiencing. You may want to do some more research on an adapter that will work better with a Cobalt Flux. Try looking around this forum or the forums at the Cobalt Flux website for some information. E1.gif

I have also heard that the pad needs to be played on for a while before the panels are more sensitive to the touch. So if you just received your brand-new pad, I wouldn't worry about that just yet. Give it some play time and then see what happens. The sensitivity may gradually improve.

Good luck to you.

guyl3, you might want to check to make sure the little switch on the adaptor is set to "PC" and not "Game". That's caused me a variety of issues with a variety of controllers. I kind of doubt that's the problem though. Maybe it's the control box? Do you know if it's a new one, or an old one? If you do, maybe you could try borrowing a different one from a friend or something. I have a friend who uses his Cobalt Flux with StepMania via an EMS USB2 adaptor and it works perfectly.

My friend uses an old control box (got his a year and a half ago), so that may be the problem. I'll check if he had to play with the offset though. He never mentioned it.

Playing ITG has sped up the decaying process of my flux.
