wow, nice.

also, if anyone needs Mad taco's cleaning guide or the Cobalt Flux Mega FAQ, i have them. would it be useful to post them here?

if so, i'll edit this post so it would be on the same page as the computer guide.

I'd be interested in both.

The link doesn't appear to be up yet, and there are some graphical issues going on right now. I'm gonna work on getting an actual template after I actually get some pads made.

it might take some time (definately by monday next week)

i printed them out before the old CF forums died, and i really don't want to type them all out, so they'll be images (using a scanner). i'll try to make them actual size so it's easy to read, but don't be suprized if one of them is tilted 2 degrees or so.

How will the low-budget scannerbots read them if they're tilted two degrees?!?! E13.gif

I may have come across a problem. I'm not entirely sure.

Before I say it, I just wanted to say that I bought more of that mesh stuff and spread it out all the way around on the bottom of the Flux. The entire bottom is covered by it. Is it okay to use this much? Will it crack the melanine?

Okay, so my problem that I have is that I noticed the arrows are uneven. For instance, the upper-right corner of my Left Arrow is slightly elevated above the rest of the pad, and it's like this in several areas of the pad. Some areas are slightly higher, and some areas are slightly lower. I'm just wondering if this is normal, or if I messed up something. (When I say slightly, I mean very slightly. Not more than a millimeter or two)

Thanks.

You could try tightening or loosening the screws. It probably just has something to do with how much they screwed them in. You might also notice that the panels are not placed symetrically either. It's just a design thing. It shouldn't make any difference. And the mesh still isn't going to do anything to the pad. People just worry too much. However, if you built a base it would protect the pad as well as stop sliding 100%.

well well well, my pad came in yesterday dind't play it until today. i like it very much so much i played 5 hours haha. i can't really tell if the sensitivity could be better if i tightened/loosened the screws but w/e. i started playing with shoes but it was like really hard to move them probably beacause the pad is yet TOO CLEAN so i was like frick this and i started playing barefoot i dont know what teh problem is with some ppl after 5 hours my feet dont hurt at all but maybe becasue im the crazy one taht does vertex expert no bar barefoot on the rcade machine with a crappy score but still, so i guess my feet r used to it. anyway im really happy with teh scores im getting on this pad mostly around 90-94 on 8-10 footers. which i think is really good on my first day of getting used to teh pad. now all i needa do is get a ps2-usb adapter for stepmania so i can play holy orders XDD.

p.s. i know most of u dont care but this is a cf forum so i might as well post this, have fun with ur fluxes everyone!! XDD and i would like to thank anyone that answered my questions in the past

ye my upper left is slightly higher (about halfa millimeter ) then the rest of my pad and teh screws seem screwed in a bit unevenly. well all i can say is it dones't bother me as long as it works i dont really care. If anything my dad is pro in like wiring and fixiing stuff like that so if anything happens i'll ask him to look at it. All i can tell you kirby is not to stress urself about these minor things that might not have any effect on teh pad but hey i could be wrong i only ahd the pad for 2 days E10.gif

Try rubbing sidewalk chalk on your shoes and the panels. It works great for some shoes, but not for others.

So, I got them yesterday (Monday). First thing I did was unpack them in the drive because some peeps had mentioned styro blizzards, but nothing of the sort here; they were actually wrapped in a plastic bag, and I didn't have to clean them off much at all. One thing worth mentioning, tho: To peel off the white plastic film, it helps to loosen the screws just a bit, otherwise the crap rips and then gets stuck under the screws and brackets of the arcade mod.

I went to Lowe's and got some plyboard, casing, and black spray paint to build a platform for them after I lugged 'em in and tested them out for a few songs. Spent most of the rest of the day building my 'stage'.

I really got to play on them today, with mixed feelings... I keep tripping all over myself, and it's ticking me off... and I seem to get more greats than I should?!? Maybe, it takes some getting used to? (I got my doubles with the arcade mods) Eh, I dunno. I loosened the screws a little and that seemed to help a bit, but I'm still not quite happy. I'm not sure if they're worth the kinda money I plopped down, but I figure I play a few weeks and see. However, they definitely feel solid! Not like that cheap MyMyBox metal pad knock-off I've been playing on for the past few years, and only worked properly after I rebuilt it.

They sure look sweet in their little platform I built for them, all framed in in glossy black, with a beveled edge; reminiscent of their commercial models. nerd.gif Maybe I'll post a piccie of my setup later...

EDIT: It's later.... Here's some piccies of my setup

Sorry if this has been already answered, but can anyone suggest how to make the pad stop moving. I can't do anything above a 9 without the pad moving, and whenever I want to do 12's I end up sliding into the wall or even my own PS2 >< trying to play ITG. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and once again I'm sorry if this has been asked a billion times. ThanksXD.

CF's are made by hand, so there are bound to be small errors. i wouldn't worry about it.

honestly, using the bar will help. (that's just what i've noticed with my modded softpads)
other than that, i don't know. (i have both of my softpads on one piece of plywood, so i don't have this problem)

also, my scanner is randomly deciding not to work. I'll try to get it sorted out soon

Play easier songs until you are doing them as well as you did on your old pad

Takes me about 10 hours to adjust to CF's, then, for the most part, I can navigate them fairly well. Might take a bit longer to get used to them for 11's and 12's. Try raising the corner and center panels just a hair.

My basement floor is uneven no matter where I try to place my pad. Will plywood fix this problem? Are there any alternatives? I already tried putting the box it came in under it, but that didn't do anything. E2.gif

The box mod intends that you keep your pad in the styrofoam and place towels under the styrofoam inside the box to prevent cracking. Also use both sides of the box. It's really not worth anything, IMO, unless you're some 110 pound emo kid. Whatever. Yeah, I'd build a base if I were you. I posted instructions a few pages back, but you really don't need any. You just by a piece of plywood and some trim to go around the edges. Then you play the CF on the plywood and measure it and the trim from there. It's extremely simple. You could probably have TraNceD.gURL explain better, as she (spec?) just built one recently. Pictures are on this page a few posts above.

Yeah, I did and it's really easy. I built mine in about 4 hours (not counting drying time.) I used 13/23" plyboard, but I'm just fighting carpet with spongy padding.

I'd recommend using 3/4" oak plyboard in your case. It's expensive, tho. An 8'x4' sheet costs 40some bucks at the local Lowe's (I'm in GA), but that stuff won't give much and it looks pretty good. Alternatively, you could use subflooring (they keep that stuff in the same area as the plyboard), it'll definitely solve your prob, but it's butt ugly and unfinished... cheaper tho. Let me know if you need detailed instructions, I'll help ya out as much as I can.
