Hehe. E10.gif I emailed them yesterday about it. No response yet, and they never even emailed me back on the USB question from a week ago. >_>

Yeah, because they had told me they'd shipped, but then when I checked the status with the code it said it hadn't yet.

Still nothing from CF. No status updates, no emails (Haven't received a reply to my last five or six emails </sarcasm> so I'm not expecting much there), no call responses.

You should have ordered a Ransai

That would have made the wait for the CF seem much shorter

If CF is not giving out dates for when your pad will ship, it's a good thing, because they seem quite unable to make the dates that they say they will ship on.
I canceled my order with them, and from what I see on the forums, I'm glad I did. More delays, screws to tight (indication of rushed job, which is no surprise), control boxes possibly not working (they are supposedly using a new vendor for the boxes).

I'm glad I built my own pad.
Sure, I can't necessarily run it over with a car, but it works great, and the customer support is phenominal. The technician is highly knowledgable as to the inner workings and build of the pad, shipping was only about $4.00 in gas, it was built and delivered in about 2 weeks, and the overall price of the pad was about $85. biggrin.gif

ok. Seriously. I know there's a number of people who are still waiting for their CF pads, and I sympathize. If you have the ability, tools, and space, it might be better to build your own. However for those that can't, just remember that 90% or more of the people that have CF pads (at least of the people I know) are very happy with the product.
They *do* read their e-mail. They may not reply, but I know they read them. Of the three that I sent, the one with the subject line "cancel order #" was replied to within 12 hours (one might ponder if they are seeing a few of those).
The only other method of contact is if you are lucky enough to call at a time when Ivoree is not on the phone with someone else, and is at her desk.
From my experience, if you call and she doesn't pick up immediately, you get the "thank you for calling Cobalt Flux..." message, which ends up dumping you into Ivoree's voice mail, which, up until the 14th of August or so, was full.
If you talk to Ivoree directly, don't expect CF to live up to any ship date that she gives you.
If you are going to stick it out and wait for your pad to be delivered, you're simply going to have to sit and wait, because there appear to be no solid answers you can get from CF on their product delivery.

Dreams, while you canceled and built your own, I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I tried to make a pad of my own, but it broke while it was still a WIP. We were moving houses, and someone dropped the pad. It was a Riptide. I really have no motivation to rebuild it, so I asked for a CF instead from my folks.

What broke, exactly? I honestly have no clue. I tried wiring up a sensor before I moved, and it worked... but after the move, nothing. I watched the person drop it, so I'm guessing that was it. I don't really care now, though.

The pad was poorly created by myself anyway. Sheet metal was bent oddly, bad measurements, etc...

EDIT: I got another email just now.

Perfect.

Over a year and a half of a perfect CF. I decided to clean it last night. The up arrow stopped working. I looked and saw that dirty water seeped in from cleaning the other arrows, so I scrubbed and reassembled it. After a while, the up arrow became frozen.

So I let it dry out for a while and put it back together. It seemed to be working fine until the arrow would freeze occasionally but work again for the next couple beats.

I'm too annoyed to fix it right now. If it happens again, I'm gonna be coming here for help.

Let's count it out, how long I've been waiting.

2 days in June (June 29th-June 30th)
31 days in July
24 days in August

TOTAL: 57 days = 8 weeks, 1 day.

Waiting until Wednesday will be 8 weeks and 6 days, and the five or so days of shipping will bring the grand total to 9 weeks and 1 day, or 64 DAYS.

I can't believe they're doing this to me. Agent 24 ordered just TWO DAYS before me, yet he has had is for nearly a week now.

I'm starting to hate CF with a passion. Not only are they lame enough to make me wait over TWO months for my pad, it's also going to arrive the day before my big book report is due. So I won't be able to play it on the day it comes in.

And the website says 4-6 weeks to build and ship. Hahahahaha. I laugh so hard at that.

Yeah, if you would have gotten a BlueShark, you could have ordered in February or April and got it late May, like my friend did. It's to be expected, though, as they have them sitting around in boxes and CF builds to order, that BlueShark should be allowed more time. Especially since they never send out defective products. [/sarcasm]

It's not really their fault so much as it is parts suppliers that make promises they can't keep. Once the suppliers vamp things up and get back to normal capacity, CF will be caught up (they nearly are now). And I got my mat on Monday.

They aren't building it in accordance with your daily schedule. For example, mine was for my birthday, which was on July 24. I had to wait about a month past that date till I finally got it, and I got it a day I had a full 8 hour work week and school starting the next day. My classes are all 3 hours. I've only used the mat for less than an hour since I got it. Tomorrow I have the day off from work for once, but since I've been so exhausted, this is the only time I have for homework. It's pass my college classes or play DDR. The choice is obvious.

The fact that I ordered only two days before you doesn't mean we will get our pads in a relatively similar time. They just do whatever orders they can, there's no telling where they will be able to reach. If they reached your date, someone else who ordered two days after you would complain the same thing. They can't make everyone happy.

Yeah, I know you got it on Monday... but in just two days that will be a week you've owned it, and I said "nearly a week".

I understand they don't build according to my schedule. I was just throwing that out there, because I'm disappointed about it... just like how you were disappointed you got it the day before your school started. frown.gif

I get where you're coming from, but having to wait 3 weeks or so more than you isn't right. The ratios aren't making sense at all.

EDIT: Another reply.

Hi Alex,

The process we use takes a few days. It starts with us putting your order
into a different system, then we make a work order for your pad to be boxed,
then the label is printed, your card is ran and out it goes. However simple
this may sound, we are doing numerous orders at the same time. I hope this
answers your questions!

Thank you,
CF Team

But what I don't get is that when Agent 24's status said "Awaiting Shipment", his went out the same week. And his changed to "awaiting" on a Wednesday. Same as us. >_<

Is there a Flux modification that makes the pad easier on one's legs? I love my Flux, but my knees and ankles become painful after playing for 30 minutes.

I can't imagine moding it in anyway to make it easier on one's legs but maybe someone else knows how.

I would think that any kind of mod like this would totally kill the pad's sensitivity. The only thing you can do is place some kind of extra layer between the arrows and the sheet metal, but anything you add may make the arrows ghost trigger and also most likely make the screws lose and eventually strip the screw holes.

Oh, and by the way, they are supposed to include a USB cable, because when I emailed them they said they would send me one.

Now it's my left and up arrow. Ugh. Someone help me. Is it possible to scrub too hard? X_X

If you actually removed the sheet metal to clean it, then you need to check the wires very carefully, not pulling too hard on the plate. If you see the wire has disconnected, it needs to be taped back down with electrical tape (this is the only tape which is safe and will work, don't attempt to substitute).

I finally picked up my Flux from my friend's place. I'm trying to make it work with Mac+Stepmania+Cobalt Flux. I've downloaded numerous drivers (ex. Xbox & Xbox 360), but they do not work. I emailed CF and they just sent me a Windows-driver (Xbox.exe >>> which I cannot open in mac).

Did anyone succeed in making CF work on Mac without any adapters (Since there is a USB port, after all).

DO NOT SCRUB TOO HARD

there is such a thing, If you scrub too hard, The metal may start to rust.
(or so I read at the old CF forums)

Little bit too late, lol. I'm gonna try one last time to get everything to work... if not, I guess I know what I did wrong. =| I just hope there's some way I can fix it...
