I'm starting up a Bemani Club at my local college. There're 8 of us that'll be the base members and we mostly play DDR/ITG, but the club will include all kinds of rhythm games, like Beatmania, Guitar Hero, and anything else that fits into that category.

I was wondering if anyone here might have any good ideas for events that I could organize on a regular basis? Things I've thought about having are:
Tournaments
Training/Tutorial sessions
Bemani "parties"
(basically we rent a room at the school and have an all-night Bemani-thon)

I'd like some more suggestions from anyone who can help. Also, if we do get new members, I assume not all of them will be expert players, so something for n00bs to do would be great too.

I guarantee you've never even played Pop'n.

But you can also have stepmania set up... and I suggest the room you rent to be a gym/cafeteria.

& it has alot of TVs, cuz seeing as you need to hear them. But Stepmania is a good idea, cuz then you could get a poll as which songs you could put on there.

If you've got the money, buy a few crap-0 15 inch tube based tvs. That way you can play IIDX without worrying about lag. And multiple stuff at once.

If you've got ASCs, use em.

For some reason, this reminds me of that one part in Mad TV where two guys have some fan club and then some jocks come in and throw them out of their reserved room. Hopefully, that won't happen.

Good Luck with it thumb.gif

I second this suggestion and I've been playing pop'n for 3 years. IIDX,keyboardmania, taiko no tatsujin are excellent additions to your lineup.

The things I don't agree about on Pop'n Music are the music (yes, there ARE good songs (Des-ROW!!), but really, is there enough for US COLLEGE people that aren't on DDR Freak/Bemani Style/Z-I-V??) & the interface (sadly, the look is why most people think it sucks....).

Somehow, if you can convince them, maybe GF/DM (it'll help say "WE WERE HERE BEFORE BAND HERO!")

Also, remember that most of Bemani games (excluding DDR & maybe GF if you've played GH) have a steep learning curve.

I 3rd it.

But don't get it unless you plan to get an ASC as well.

For starters, Club Pres, don't call them 'n00bs', people tend to disagree with that term.
