1. Don't change the scoring system for every mix that comes out (arcade or console)
2. Make the console versions as close to the arcade version as possible, including the little details. It sucks that the Japanese get an abridged but very, very close to arcade version (i.e.: Extreme JP), while we get stuck with less arcade material. We did get super close on SN, IMO.
3. Make boss songs like the Extreme-era maxes again, while keeping it interesting and new. And NO more Chaos!!!
4. Unlock the boss songs for the SN arcade mixes. IMO, the machines would make more money, and less importantly, an American player would've been the 1st one to AAA Chaos or HDV Expert (IMO again).
5. Have Challenge on all new songs.

That's all I can think of, but I thought it would be good to get everyone's opinion on what they thought could make DDR better.

A Challenge chart for all (or almost all) of the songs, and a rating system that goes up to 12.

1. Bemani crossovers permanently in E-Amuse.

Let's face it: a lot of us are fed up with other people whoring Daikenkai, Xepher, A, Sakura, R3, to name some Bemani crossovers. This is where E-Amuse comes in. Not only whorage of those aforementioned songs will be curbed, but in addition, DDR Originals and the e-Amuse system get promoted more.

2. Manual unlocks for boss songs.

More $$$ = more chances for Konami to improve the product.

3. More Dancemania.

The licenses in SN2 just fail.

Here's what would make DDR better:

1. Dimmer backgrounds.
2. No background dancers.
3. Noteskins that don't suck.
4. Timing windows that don't suck.
5. Songs that don't suck.
6. Charts that don't suck.
7. Triplets.
8. Songs that are actually synced properly.
9. A new boss song that doesn't rely on lame gimmicks.
10. Old licenses brought back.
11. Ability to unlock all songs.
12. A scoring system that makes sense.
13. Jumps counted as 2 in your combo.
14. Support for edits.
15. Ability to view a song's high score from the song selection wheel.
16. More speed mod choices, and more mod choices in general.

Sounds kinda like this other game that I know.

Stuff

Yeah, sounds very familiar....

1. All backgground characters selectable. That means you Disk A and B.
2. Flash in the Night
3. A bunch of songs that were last seen in 5th mix/Max 2.
4. The option to choose between Background Movies or Background Dancers.

x.5, 2.5x, 3.5x, 4x
more challenge steps
option to turn off dancers
11 (or 12) feet
edit mode with 32nds and true 12ths and 24ths
more 10's (10's aren't legendary or anything, not every 10 has to be a "boss song")
and 7-15 on iDmutable's list

Well, considering betson sucks major ass, it would be so much better for the machines if konami hired andamiro to make the machines. I mean, look at the amazing job they did with the ITG machines.

The rating chart technicaly does go over 10. Konami told the computers to write FAXX heavy as a 13 stepchart.

I personaly don't play console games, but it would have been nice for every song to be realeased on multiple disks or HD loaders pre-loaded with the latest DDR and every song (of corse, with some sort of update system for it, unless Konami would be gay and make you buy another HD loader). It's that when I did play the console japanese DDR 8th mix, there were good songs in the arcade that were not to be found on the console game.

Things I would change:

1. More challenge charts
2. Unlock code for boss songs
3. Option to turn dancers off
4. Bring back old Oni system
5. Bring back the old Extra Stage alarm
6. Unlock code to replace e-amuse unlocks...e-amuse can still have unlock noteskins, speed mods, dancers, bg videos, internet rankings, etc.

Things I would keep:

1. Scoring system...I'm fine with it.
2. CHAOS and other gimmicky charts, as long as Konami keeps it to 1-2 songs per mix and not every boss song
3. Licenses because they attract new players and keep the game going...also I don't mind most of them
4. Foot rating system, if we just accept "10" as "anything harder than a 9." Maybe add flashing 10s to indicate the harder 10s. Besides, rate something on a scale of 1-10 just makes sense, as opposed to 1-11 or 1-12 (and yes I'm aware of IIDX's rating). If they did change it I wouldn't mind...
5. Cabinets. The dedicated SN cabs look great. I'd take it over ITG2 any day.
6. Popular songs like A, V, Xepher, Sakura, etc. unlocked on machine. I don't care if people whore them. Whoring songs = more profit = more machines = more mixes of DDR. Duh.

I thought they already did this.

Stop changing the friggin' difficulty names every two mixes. I cringe when I hear people say things like, "Play expert!" As I'm sure the generation of players before me cringed when they heard us say 'heavy' instead of maniac.

That's the only thing that really annoys me. That, and, the Japanese CS games get all the good songs, but that's fixable because I can just import.

I agree ITG machines do look cooler.

Fome, id also add a 2 foot barrier with a mini gate so little kids don't stray onto the machine.

And 5.1 Dolby Surround SOund.

I played DDR on our new Home Theatre unit, it sounds so badass.

I'm pretty sure they're not talking about how they look as much as the fact that ITG2 dedicabs' pads beat the living hell out of DDR's.

-An option to turn charachters off to appease the whiners
-More Extreme 2 type love--Personalized videos for every song (Extreme 2 still has the best backgrounds to date)
-Get rid of the dancing "stages" and go back to videos for every song, as mentioned in the last point (We see amazing videos for every song in IIDX, why can't that same dedication be put towards making DDR videos?)
-Find a good way to work charachters in with background movies (so they don't look awkward).
-Have Hottest Party type "routines" for each song so the dancers look good. Each charachter could still retain their own special moves and perhaps perform them upon reaching certain goals (100 combo, 200 combo, and so on).
-Akira

-Some hard 10 footers that don't have gimmicks or 200+ bpm
-No lazy generic charts--more stuff like what we saw in that New Jersey test location
-Challenge charts wherever one fits--these should be used to experiment with new ideas and give easier expert songs harder charts. Seeing some new gameplay elements would be fun in unlocks. Having one or two songs with hands would be fun. Who cares if its "stealing" from ITG... hands would be fun in two or so charts in the game and a nice little suprise. Other new game elements could be interesting too, as well as new styles of stepping.
-More accurate steps that pay attention to detail and nuance in each song.
-Every stepchart should have something that makes it stick out and defines it--something trademark like the Tsugaru gallops. A chart should be recognizeable from looking at a chart online.

-More "fun" themes like those in Max/Max2. These were more fun and less "techy." Whereas Beatmania should have that techy club hardcore feel, DDR should have a light, fun, almost discoy feel. I think that's what suits it best and I'd like to see that more prevelant in releases past SN2.
-Couples mode and some type of co-op mode. Couples mode would only have to be one or two charts per song and could include new elements that prompt players to switch pads or play on one pad at the same time. This could obviously be cheated, but for those who are playing it for fun it would be a good guide for some cool moves with a partner.

-More danceable licenses. A lot of the licenses don't make great step charts which is very sad. Some different licenses would be nice too. I'm still waiting for 19-2000 soulchild remix in my DDR. For those who don't know it, that's the "Get the cool shoe shine" song by the Gorillaz.
