What's wrong to losing to a girl? There is absolutely nothing wrong with losing to a girl.

Unfortunately for me I cannot lose to a girl in my network of friends. Most of them are far below my skill level and those who ARE just as good/better aren't willing to play. And when I say skill, I mean just passing songs.

The way I see it, that girl got more practice/timing down than megamanx.
I'm fortunate enough to know a girl who's better than me, but I'm still getting better rapidly and she's basically plateaued. Chicks just don't take this game as seriously as guys.

For fucks sakes, can people stop generalizing EVERY DAMN GIRL like this? You can say, "some chicks don't take this game as seriously as guys", and the same can be said about some guys.

These topics always piss me off.

A co-worker of mine, who happens to be female, and i were having a discussion about ddr tonight. A question came up, why aren't there more females playing ddr? A few quick google searches didn't reveal anthing meaningful. Only thing I can come up with is a large population of males that already play and the women feel intimidated to play. Is there anything medical (Ie: brain differences and such) or social that prevents females from enjoying this sport?

I don't expect scientific studies quoted here, but what are some of your thoughts?

Fake. Chicks are illegal.

Well, there is some factuality to the argument that girls don't take it as seriously sometimes, and also that they don't like to get sweaty in public because it's embarrassing. My sister won't play with me anymore and never got past the easy Heavy songs. My friend liked to play, but only when I was at her level. Otherwise she didn't want to try, like she never attempted to reach higher levels of difficulty. But there are also plenty of casual male players and plenty of male players who take the game less seriously than their female counterparts (hell, some only play every once in a while with their girlfriend, who is the serious player).

psisarah.

I stated a factual analysis.

I considered the females I know, and how seriously they take DDR, and the guys I know, and how seriously they take DDR. My statement was no means derogatory or generalising, just comparing averages. I know a female who is far better than me, but I still take the game more seriously than her. DDR is a testosterone game. In fact, most games are. I'm not saying girls don't take games seriously, but that girls take games less seriously. Men become aggressive and competitive over video games, and women become aggressive and competitive because their vagina is bleeding.

I'm sorry what?

Factual analysis, heh; it's hardly a factual statistic when you're only taking samples from the people around you. I'm right up there in competitiveness with pretty much all the guys that play at my arcade, if not more so than some. Another girl I play with is hardcore competitive.

This just made me lol. Were you aware that girls have testosterone too? Or do I not have enough to take things seriously? Or am I too distracted by my bleeding vagina to score whore?

It just bothers me when people generalize girls like the way you did. Especially when I get clumped into some cliche I have nothing to do with.

just stop caring about it, obviously. this topic has come and gone and been run around in circles sooo o o o many times. you could quad star vertex^2 and AAA felmo right afterwards but still the thought would remain that girls aren't good at these games nor do they play them competitively

mostly i find this hilarious because this homo lives in portland and still thinks this way. c'mon, you have to have heard of me and how could you not factor in that to girls you know of

psiriarisarias > actually soymilkcharlie is right, girls tend to not take video games as seriously (as in, they don't devote as much time/attention to) as guys. I don't know WHY this is, but I know from years of observation that it is definitely a fact. Also, seeing how competitive DDR is a very physical activity, and how males can beat females at just about anything measuring strength/speed/etc (at similar levels, i'm not saying I can out run a female marathon runner)... that's why less girls appear to play ddr.

Generalization is very valid when the topic is about -- SURPRISE!!! -- girls in general.

The fact that you read "chicks don't blah blah" as a generalization yet you react as if it's supposed to apply to everybody is absurd. Learn to read english. Taking everything literally is not going to get you far in life.

the answer to the OP is really that more girls than guys play DDR if you pay attention. Just not competitively.

"Chicks just don't take this game as seriously as guys" is a statement of absolute truth, not a generalization. I do understand English, which is why it was taken literally because he phrased it as such.

I don't actually give a shit that this generalization applies, people just need to learn to word their points better.

Don't take anything I say seriously. E15.gif

If you look at my post history throughout this topic, you'll see that the generalisation I stated is completely inconsistent with everything else I've said here.

lolol

You have a bit of an ego, don't you? Why would I have heard of you?

I'm almost certain Phylicia's the best female in Oregon, and she's barely better than me anymore. In fact, my generalisation wasn't a generalisation; I was just paraphrasing, and what I actually meant was "Phylicia just doesn't take this game seriously," 'cause that's solid truth.

This topic should have been locked months ago. I'm just helping it on its way.

btw, spontaneously using derogatory terms doesn't make you cool; just narrow-minded. thumb.gif

Trying to turn a topic so unimportant into an intelligent debate, on the internet, makes you a stupid, self-centered idiot.

Aruging with me calling you a stupid, self-centered idiot, on the internet, will make you more of a stupid, self-centered idiot.

Done and done, why would we seriously listen to the ramblings of an obviously uninformed, yet presumptuous, internet buffoon?

No offense to Phylicia, as I'm sure she's quite talented, but Amber is pretty well known as the best female player in the United States. Not only did she place better than quite a few people at NAT '05, she even beat MegaManX in another recent national-scale tournament. All you're doing is showing how woefully uninformed you are about the current state of affairs, and how you really shouldn't be chiming in on a subject you know almost nothing about.

Derogatory it may be, but she's just telling the truth. Deal with it, homo.

Actually, that said, you're kind of slow.

Can anyone explain to me how saying that chicks go through menstruation is derogatory? I'm still kinda lost on that one. I kind of figured that was pretty well-accepted.

Oh, and I don't take this game seriously either. Let's start a flamewar over that radical generalisation too. E8.gif
