OMG!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't he say he was doing this NON PROFIT!

Why are you guys expecting him to sprawl up as big as Konami in a mere few months!

Microsoft didnt grow overnight, did it?

Sony wasnt that big till about 20 years after it wa smade post WWII

Nintendo was for a long long while a small company selling Mah Jonhg cards!

Ideas come in a snap, but making it a reality takes alot of work. And without your support it could stay too tiny to even sell 2. [/infomercial]

yes, but microsoft, sony, and nintendo have all equally made amazing products that take many years to develop, far longer than a simple homebrew pad. it just pisses me off that in pretty much every dance pad thread he would say things about how his pads are better or how awesome they are, basically anything to up his reputation, i just wish he wouldn't have said anything until he had a solid prototype.

Also, he isn't always recommending his pads in the threads. He usually just recommends homebrew, but if you were building homebrew pads for people to buy, you couldn't help but mention them when you are recommending that someone builds their own mat.

Before misconception kills what rep I have left, I'd like to point out the following:

1. Minimal profit, not non-profit. The primary reason is taxation issues. If I make a significant profit, I'll have to worry about taxes.

2. As for not saying anything until I had a prototype made, I feel the same way. I messed up there, and I'm not gonna deny it.

3. I don't believe I misled anyone with any of my shameless self-promotion. I specifically made sure to present an unbiased list of options, and included "...or, if nothing else, you can hold out for a few months and get a DT[#]00 instead. See our thread for more information."

4. I'm recommending homebrews NOW because I listened to people complaining about me recommending pads that didn't exist yet. A couple months ago, I didn't forsee a bunch of problems with the DT600's, so I'd figured we'd be well established by now.

5. I do have help, I just haven't been able to access it yet.

6. My job: DTG.
Summer break started on Thursday, I went to a graduation on Friday, helped my aunt and uncle move today, and I'll be spending tomorrow with my father. Monday I hope to have an opportunity to set up an inventory of all the parts needed for a DT200, Tuesday I'm meeting up with some friends at the arcade, and the rest of the summer goes to DTG and my SM cab.

7. Just for clarification, that means I'll be spending around 12-16 hours a day working on this shit.

Looking forward to a good summer. Hope you all will stay with me throughout.

Yup. All my solo stuff and lyrics are copyrighted to "Soymilk" Charlie. My band's Tofu Delivery Service.

A lot of the time, I'll close emails as Soymilk Charlie. I got my compy back, so no more depressed tofu, but I felt that Soymilk Charlie would better represent the fact that this is a personal account.

Hey guys. I redid the base design for the DT600 in anim8tor. I can email it to anyone who wants it on a case-to-case basis, or I can upload it to one of those big upload sites that are such a pain in the buttocks. What do you guys want me to do with it? (other than use it to build some sick pads)

And just a heads-up, I haven't rendered the metal panelling or the panels yet. I'm gonna see if I can get the PIU version made when I get home today.

The only thing on the base that's new is a wiring layer. There's a 1/4" layer specifically for the wires, which won't solve any of the gameplay issues, but it will clean up the inside of the pad a ton.

sounds neat.

i might be interested ;] my devout arrows are too much hassle to maintain and still play constant 9's and 10's, so i'm looking to rebuild.

I did the metal paneling and arrows last week. Hopefully this week I'll have a chance to actually build something instead of just making pictures.

If you were going to build an AC pad would you use matrix sensors or arcade tape switches?

Neither; my friend makes a sensor that allegedly has the longevity of martlx sensors and sensitivity of [new] tapeswitch sensors.

Basically, it's a very refined version of the matrlx sensors.

Aforementioned friend has now decided I'm not worth helping. Hopefully he'll come back to my aid when the DT200's are made, although without his financial aid that's going to take a bit longer. Sorry to bring bad news. I guess I'll try and see if I can do anything to counter that tomorrow. (It's too late to do anything today.)

EDIT: Yikes, guys!
I just got an email for the seller I get my plastics from, and it seems that the Plexiglas paneling that the DT200 design calls for would cost $60. Twice as much as the Lexan Panels! That in mind, there's some serious modifications that need to be done to the design.
Or, I can slap another $40 on the price.

Anyway, hopefully 1/4" lexan will be strong enough that it won't pose a threat to the cold cathode bulbs inside if I just have a wood spacer along the perimetre.

This established, there's no reason not to get the sensors built tomorrow, since it means I don't need to wait for the plexiglas to get here. E15.gif

Okay guys. I wanted to be able to tell you something positive, so I got on the DT600 again.

I realised that while initial testing was done on all game modes, My most recent testing has been on songs between 7 and 10 foot ratings.

So I turned it down a notch. I put in DDRMAX2, put it on Standard, and scrolled through the songlist.

First, I tried Shining Polaris (4). Results:
1 pad Good (up arrow)
1 pad N.G. (left arrow)

Next, I tried So Deep (5). Results:
1 Pad N.G.

Then I finished it off with Kind Lady (6). Results:
1 Pad great (up arrow)

After this testing, what I've determined is that the original design actually works fine for standard play. It's the stress of being pounded rapidly that caused the arrows to screw up during most recent tests. I'm going to pick up 4 sq. ft. of 1/8" wood and retrofit the prototype, 'cause if the new design will give the increased stability I've been hoping it will, then we should be good to go for the DT600's, which would be MARVELLOUS. E15.gif

I also cut some pieces for the DT200 prototype today, but it started to get really hot and I got sawdust in my eyes 'cause my safety goggles fail. =(

EDIT:
I went ahead and tested it on Break Down on Heavy too. 15greats, 1 good, 1 almost, 14 boos.
All the combo breakers were the pad (maybe a couple were legit from the jacks), which really displays how ineffective it is with 9-footers. Again, that's what I'm trying to eliminate.

Edit button much? Hope you manage to get the pads working with heavy. Also if you're going for arcade feel you might as well go with....arcade sensors!
