I'm sure chess players consider chess fun, but does that make them not-geeks? Nope. |
That's not exactly what I asked. I asked WHY DDR is geeky. |

But looking stupid makes it geeky? |

DDR doesn't look stupid. Find someone who can kill a 10-footer and people are awed. Anyone who has ever played it just for fun occasionally (that I know) thinks it's enjoyable. People who watch me play realize it's the main reason I'm in shape; it's my way to exercise.
Besides, I ride a Kawasaki Ninja, I can't be a geek |

Not to be racist or anything (though I'm saying my race)
If your Asian, and if your from uptown and goes to the arcade a lot, you'd be popular there (but you would have to wear fancy clothes)
But if your from downtown.. well... no one gives a hoot because there are no arcades in downtown that has ddr |

Geeky and non geeky people play DDR, DDR is a game that everybody in any "click" can play, you dont need a special interest to play it therefore its not geeky
its not like D&D or Magic ( no offense)
if you like it you play it and thats that! _________________

I don't think we are necessarily geeks. I know I'm not. We aren't all geeks, but if you obsess about DDR and base your life around it and it's all you ever think about (excuse my exaggeration), then you're probably a geek.
No one has ever called me geeky for playing DDR. I am the best player I know, so most people I meet are jealous, but in an admiring sort of way, not anything scornful. Only my family makes fun of me when I play. They just think I look funny, but they never call me a geek.
DDR is a great way --nay, the best way, if I may-- to have fun, get exercise, and improve your coordination, all at once. How could that ever be a bad thing? It is one of the most ingenious games ever invented, in my opinion. Plus, DDR is certainly less geeky than most other video games - the lazy ones, that is. |

Thanks for agreeing with me, fullblade. It's nice to know I'm not alone on that point... haha. I agree with what you said, too:

DDR really is a general game when it comes to interests. I have never met a person who thinks the game is a waste of time. Everyone finds something they like in it, whether it be the genre of music, the competitive aspect, the exercise, watching Emi in the background.... The list goes on and on. It truly is a case of one size fits all. |

So... what?
Hobbyists of anything post on forums, what impact does that have that warrants a broad generalization against ALL ddr players that post on A forum for [unknown] time/period? _________________

The majority of people that play DDR regularly and go to sites like this are geeks. Of course, that doesn't mean we all are. I personally am, but for completely different reasons. |

it depends on how long you have been playing and how well you play. if you sucka dn have been playing for a long time, your not a geek cuz you dont play as much. if youve played a long time and you and AA and AAA any song, then your a geek, but an in-shape geek, not the lazy fat buttocks one |

Or maybe on who you are and what you're like, rather than your skill level in a specific video game... _________________
