either get better or stop playing.
seriously though. if you can't handle competetion and losing some times, you should really quit. |

I should have explained myself better:
I like competition, it's just getting to the point where it's becoming a bit doggy.
If I could get better, I would- I'm fairly confident I will eventually.
I hate losing, I'll be the first to own up to that, but I can handle it, I don't show off if I do better than someone else, which is why it angers me so when people DO show off if its the other way round.
I don't want to stop playing because I enjoy the game, I think all work and no play really takes the whole point of the game away.. _________________

Its nothing more than a game, but take that jealousy and work harder and show them who the vet is. It feels horrible knowing someone has a faster learning curb, like myself being a really slow learner and getting the hang of things. Like say I find my competition on who is the best person at the arcade, I don't want to be as good as him, but better.
Step up your game and don't take poopy personally, if your friends poke at you then just laugh it off. _________________

Its really up to you if you want them around, or you even consider them your friends. I wouldn't even consider htem my friends if they treated me like that, but some just look for flaws.
Unfortunately, you had to had the group that always looks for a person's flaws. Either impress them or find another group to play with. |

I think you're old enough to work this 1 out on your own, you have to be incredibly immature not to know the best way to handle this. _________________

if you flatfoot, nothing in DDR should be stamina draining. _________________

I don't flatfoot, TBH I'd be a lot happier if I could..
XOR-SYS, kstella55, Thank you, I shall carry with my your wise words of wisdom
They're actually my BEST friends, so yeah I know this whole thing is stupid.. its probably more about self esteem than anything else.. I know it's immature. I know it sounds vain but I know I'm better than them, it makes me feel good about myself yeah.. but I don't shove it in their faces.
We're all quite stubborn- but I actually wouldn't mind losing- well it's not the best thing to happen but I know it will, I just expect others to treat me how I treat them..
If I'm stupid for wanting to be the best, then yeah alright, hands up I am! But I do want to be.. yeah I think I'll just ignore any negative comments and do my best.. all I can do.. _________________

Jog a mile everyday, or do some other cardiovascular activity to improve your stamina a little bit. Play lots of 8 and 9 foot songs. The paranoias, trip machines, and stuff like So Deep, Cartoon Heroes, Witch Doctor, and Xenon should all help your stamina get ready for the 10s.
Try Sakura; it's probably the easiest straight-forward 10 there is.
With Max 300, try and minimize your movement so you don't waste energy. Learn to flatfoot; it will save your butt, especially if you ever get into ITG2 and beyond. |

Then, before they get wise and notice Sakura is a cheap 10, work on Paranoia Survivor or Max 300 (the easiest true 10s). When they lose the will to compete to get the first 10, they will no longer play as intensely. It worked for my brother against me (for catas) and it worked for me against my brother (for 10s). | Or Xepher. I A'd that on my second try; Sakura took me 3. _________________

[[Neon.Blue.]],
Here's what I did to improve.
First, try to clear the song in Game Mode so it's at full speed. If I fail the song, then I swallow my pride then head over to the Training Mode.
Once in Training Mode, I try the song again except instead of speed 5 which is full speed, I bring it down a notch to speed 4. If I still fail the song at speed 4, one of the first things I do is go into review mode to see the Perfect/Great/Good/Almonst/Boo ratings for each step in the song. Then I study the step chart to figure out at which point "I screwed up." An example of one such "screw up" was that what I thought was a quick then a , it was in fact a . I would just focus on fixing one error you're making at a time. As previously mentioned, once I fixed the mistake, I discovered another error I was making. So I practiced to get rid of that next mistake. Now I can "AA" that song. If I'm still failing at speed 4, then I'd practice at speed 3, then speed 2, and sometimes as low as speed 1. At that point, like any other point, the solution to the problem is practice, practice, and practice.
Also, let yourself be your own self-motivator. As you said yourself, you're the first one to reach Heavy. So remember the glass is half full and you're trying to make it fuller. Since you say you're playing 9 footers trying for 10 footers, then you're 90% full so you're almost there.
Also, I empathize how frustrating it is to improve that "last little bit." For example, for the song "AFTER THE GAME OF LOVE," some reason I can get an "AA" on Light but for some extremely stupid reason, I still can't "AAA" it. Soo, if my situation doesn't help you to realize how much further ahead you are compared to newbies like me, I'm not sure how much more I could help.
Good luck with your 10 footer quest. |

For going with Stepmania, you would need those fancy schmancy adapters. Then there's the case where some adapters need you to press Start, Select, and Up and hold them all at once. I am assuming you would need to pull that off with a standard PS/PS2 controller.
Try flatfooting on the pad while finding your way to linking it up with Stepmania. I started flatfooting and acknowledging it last Tuesday and it feels a little new and strange. I would do it without knowing before so I guess that's why it's kinda weird (paying attention to my feet instead of the screen).
Anywho, the way I got my 10s down was working on my stamina and timing. I would try Graduisic (sp?) Cyber a lot of times (not three times in one play of course) and Dead End/Healing Vision for the crossovers and stamina. Sometimes I would play all catas to push myself enough. Eventually you will try Max 300 again and realize the last time you were playing the song you were outputting too much energy than needed, making you suffer the difficulty of the second part.
Graduisic (sp?) Cyber is great for the complex steps and the 16th notes (which convert to 8 notes in Max 300). So is Leading Cyber, but that's more for complexity. Dynamite Rave is also great too.
From easiest to hardest, Dead End, Exotic Ethnic, and Healing Vision Angelic Mix are excellent for stanima and crossovers. Dead End for jackhammers, Exotic Ethnic for stamina, and Healing Vision AM for stamina but also for unexpected things (like the pause in mid-song).
MaxX Unlimited Standard for jumps. Believe me, you want to practice your jumps. Though I never played standard in my life. _________________

No, and no. You can get pads with USB output built in, and it isn't that hard to hit Start, Select, Up on a pad (either left foot select, right foot start, and a hand for up, or left foot select, toe-end of right foot start, heel of right foot up). |

rddr, thank you, I have taken your words into account
RandomUser, thank you too
Yesterday I passed Sakura without speed mods
I know its easy for a lot of people on here, but I'm quite pleased about it
Yes, the cup IS half full, I WILL get there eventually
Flatfooting is pretty hard for me- I sort of switch between that and on my toes without realising,
But, it's coming on, it's coming on.. _________________
