The finally sent mine as well. I ordered it on May 3rd and it's scheduled to arrive on the 19th.

Does anyone have information regarding adding a bar to a Cobalt Flux?

You build a base for the pad and put a bar on it. There is absolutely no room on the pad for anything extra.

Bar is pretty simple. Ill elaborate more on the above post.

Building a base is pretty much "framing" youre cobalt flux. Once youve done that, drill two holes in the back of your "frame" and pop in a bar.

I have a question. What are the symptoms of a pad that needs cleaning?
Some of you might know that i've had my CF for about a month now and something has happened. Its not as responsive as it was, and its giving me ghost steps.... I havent had any pad misses yet though.

So i decided to clean it up and its drying right now.... Im goign to try to play on it tomorrow and see if the cleaning has done the job.

I don't go by symptoms, I just clean it every few months (unless something pops up inbetween and I have to clean it then, in which case I would clean it then) and so far that's been working.

Mine came today! Here's how it went.

When I opened up the box, I found everything nicely packed with styrafoam. (I can't think of how to spell that right now erm.gif ) They also had a nice little packet telling how to set it up, troubleshooting, etc. Once I got all the plastic peeled off and wiped off all the styrafoam, (this is why I hate styrafoam disturb.gif ) I set it all up and brought my laptop down. Then I noticed that the styrafoam got all into the connector pin thingy of the control box. GRRR, I HATE THAT STUFF. I had to use a needle to get it all out frust.gif. They really should invest in some bubble wrap or something. E10.gif Ok, so now it's all hooked up and ready go! Just for the record, I'm playing on stepmania with ITG arcade timings in place. My first few songs were warmups to get used to the pad. When I started to full combo songs again, I chose Look to the Sky (true color mix) to see if I could AAA it (it's the only thing I can AAA on my crappy softpad). I got 5 greats. 5 greats! And I kept getting caught up with the screws because I still wasn't quite used to it yet. The rest of the songs I did were awesome as well. I haven't broken a whole lot of my records yet, but I'm sure it's because I'm not used to shoes and the screws keep messing me up (just like the raised panels do at an arcade). The pad doesn't slip much at all. Maybe a couple inches if I'm doing a really tough ITG song. Overall I'd say it was worth the wait.

Once I start regaining my stamina and ability back, I'm sure I'll have a LOT of AAA's and such to be reporting. E1.gif

Ordered a CF double pack this week.

What do i need if i want to play StepMania on the PC? Does the supplied control box work with a USB interface connection type? or do i need to order a seperate control box in order to plug it into the computer to play SM?

You will need to buy a PS2->USB adaptor. www.stepmania.com has a nice list of them along with reviews.

I have no experience what so ever regarding things of that nature. I'm sure it looks pretty basic to most of you guys, but I've never worked on any pads at all, or have anything similar requiring knowledge of that type of stuff. Could you possibly elaborate on this in great detail if you have the time, or post a link to an informative site regarding bar mods? Thanks.

I've got a question about the flux. I ordered one mainly for DDR and ITG, but I also own PIU. This is why I am wondering if when I get my flux if I could just take the cardboard piece out from the middle and play both ddr and PIU? I know the pads dimensions aren't right and it's not made for PIU but as long as I could play the game without interfering with ddr it wouldn't bother me.

No, you'd have to make a new control box for PIU. You would, of course, have to take out the plywood, but you'd then need to put it back in for DDR. To avoid making a control box, you could get a Trio Linker Plus and map the keys in StepMania or something else you can use for PIU on the computer. If you're on a PC you can download one of those Pump PC things and use Joy2Key.

Im a little disappointed...
I just got my Cobalt today, (I ordered it in April -_-) and the frikken control box had a cut up wire. :/

I had my boyfriend open it and tape it back to the board, but it tends to fall out of place E2.gif

Does Cobalt Flux allow you to send back the control box for a replacement without the actual dance pad? It turns out the pad is fine biggrin.gif

Electrical tape is not for the win all the time v_v

EDIT: I finally got hold of them and they do allow you to send the box for a replacement, but you have to pay one way shipping. I am happy though, hopefully it won't take three months for them to send a control box... goog.gif

Just wondering, has anyone ordered a cobalt flux and then cancel the order? i ordered the flux last monday and i want to know if i can cancel it and opt for the blueshark. They havent charged my card yet so i cant really seem to see why they wouldnt. + There are heaps of flux buyers ordering and waiting, if they already started building my flux which i highly doubt, they can give that to someone who ordered after me.

Well anyway i wanted to double check......whats their order cancel policy like?

OK HERE IS MY REVIEW ON MY FLUX

Well, my flux came last night and i have a review to share with you about it.

1. Looks: I have to give this thing a C in looks because they forgot to spray part of it black so it is kindoff unfinished, also, since i got an arcade mod, they didnt even give me all the decals. I decided i wanted to take it off, but none of the decals were under it!

2. Performance: despite its looks this thing is awesome!!! it gets an A+ I used to not even be able to complete DoLL Expert, but now i got a B on it!! so it really is as sensitive as they say

Also, my CB does have a USB interface.. i dont know if yours did, but mine also came what looked like an original xbox plug, but i dont know how they look because i dont have one.

Another question i have is i can see numerous wires (not sticking out) along the creases in the panels. Should i see these?

Finally, i do hear a cracking noise, but i heard that was just the Velcro.

All in all this is a great pad, and is WAYYYYY better than my old modded softpad!!!

i'm pretty sure they do that to anyone who orders the arcade mod

So, my CF arrived.

My first thought was how heavy it was. My mailman had a hard time getting it in, and it was even more though getting it out. But with a little time it came out and it was ready to play.

My first song was Rhythm and Police, my second favorite song. It took about 3 songs to get used to the new pad, but once I got used to it it was unbelievable. The sensitivity was great and I finally AA'ed my first song. Granted, it was Rhythm and Police on Light but still, it was an accomplishment for me. There are no problems so far, and it was worth my buy.
