Trick bar use...

yea I was just having this conversation yesterday these ppl were using the bar on light and standard and I was like for what? I dont use the bar and I can beat up to 9's but I have a question does any one ever step on the bar with the back of thier heels? because I do it a lot on fast songs and I even slipped off the pad!!! with 5 ppl wathcin but I still passed the 8 I was plying..

I'm not sure if I should hate the bar huggers when they play light because some of them think that they have to. I asked this guy why he was holdin the bar and he said that he thought that he had to. So I'm not sure if the players are stupid or clueless when they start to play.

Surprisingly, the bar makes me worse (or maybe I'm just not accustomed to it)

Sometimes I hold the bar with one hand when I'm tired, but very rarely. I prefer barless. I have nothing against people who use the bar, I just understand that it's easier to use it.

Some people just like to use the bar, it depends on the person. I've seen people use it on beginner, lol.

I really only use the bar for 10's or when im PA'ing. But personally I dont care if other people use it or don't, its a preference.

the bar is the devil. it should be used for placing jackets on. that is all. if i owned an arcade i'd remove the bar so that no one could use it muwahahaha. and yes I do think of myself as being better at ddr than those who use the bar

These arguements are rather stupid, they are basically people that use the bar defending themselves and people that don't use that bar(and suck at scoring usually in general too) telling them they are wrong. It doesn't matter either way, at this point... the only thing that matters is having fun... and if you're into it... the final score you got.(not how you got it) I admit i can clear stupid stuff no bar... I've done all of ITG singles and AIR/uber rave. I do it for personal laughs though, the scores aren't comparable to bar scores in anyway... and im terrible at timing anyway. Everyone that wants to play competitively should learn how to bar... everyone else... who cares?... they are just playing for fun. If you don't play competitively you have NO reason to complain... if you don't compete but want to get into it... learn to bar, it makes speed reading and faster patterns easier and gives you more body control. If you don't wanna use it... your loss. I kinda wish they had like... no bar ironman tournaments(like consecutive difficult charts where you go as long as you can) though, that'd be fun.

out of all my years of playing ddr, i never held onto the bar. its rather restricting for me since i like to dance n what not. i tried doing it on a hard song with a billion arrows, thinking that i would do better, i did worse. i ended up exerting my energy holding onto the bar really tight than using it to make my footwork faster.

AA BoB: totally agree with you... in the end the only thing that matters is score when comparing like that.(like i said... not how you achieve it.) I think every single one of my expert ***'s is bar... as well as all but maybe one of my 12+ scores.(don't care about DDR... im talking ITG) I just had some enjoyment in pushing myself to pass stuff like pandy and bloodrush and then uber rave and AIR barless(since its relatively uncommon these days) its all personal achievement for me mostly these days.

Just because you don't use the bar, doesn't mean your any better than people that do.

I don't understand why this argument has been going on for so long. If Konami put the bar in, you shouldn't say you can't use it. They put it in there to be used and for some people it makes it easier. There is no rule in DDR that says you can't use the bar. If you weren't allowed, why would they make it? To decorate the machine? No. To be used by people who want to use it. wow i just said a lot of stuff and it seemed kinda brutal... oh well

EDIT: There is also no reason to say people on light or standard can't use it. The game is supposed to be about hitting the arrows and getting points. If a person can get better scores by using the bar, they can. It's as simple as that.
