Its really down to the better mix of licenses in my opinion
Extreme with its newer stuff and Witch Doctor, and all the good stuff...
Vs.
Max 2 : "Stay" - Tess. Period.
Max 2 Wins. |

My favorite mix is, has always been, and always will be 5th Mix.
But if 5th Mix somehow never existed, it would 7th Mix/MAX2. |

I like extreme because thats really the only ddr machine I've ever played on. I also like the shear immensity of the songlist, compared to max and max2. _________________

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you right now. I like the "Extreme" one, but until this month, it was the only one I ever played on myself. Earlier this month, I did finally get to give the "SuperNova" one a try. I thought it was pretty good, with all the new songs and interface and everything -- heck, I even liked the music that played as I entered my name on the high score list -- but I did miss some of the songs from the "Extreme" one that weren't in the "SuperNova" one. |

Extreme is hands down my favorite. I thiink the first machine I played on was a MAX 6th Mix. Max 2 isn't terribly bad. EXTREME is just...well it's the machine I've spent the most time playing on for one thing. And it's just got some really great songs. My least favorite is USA. In truth though, if there's a DDR, I'll play it, no matter the mix. _________________

Agreeeeed. I think we have a SuperNova somewhere around here, but other than that all there is at all the movie theatres is ITG, which I'm not really a fan of. (There are like...no arcades in my city that I know of xP) _________________

Well, There are a few mixes I like for different reasons...
SuperNOVA: Basically an Extreme with extra nice songs (not to mention the return of the characters)
Extreme: Has some nice licenses and crossovers, but SuperNOVA has most of them...
Max 2: I hate the theme, but the songs are awesome
Max: Pretty decent songs...
5th: Flat out awesome... I love its theme, and I love virtually all the songs
All the others are so-so, though I do love the smile.dk songs the earlier ones posess... _________________

I have played 1st, 2nd (I think), USA, 4th Plus, 5th, MAX, MAX2, EXTREME, and SuperNOVA.
My favorite is probably SuperNOVA. Some of the new stuff turned out to be some of my all-time favorite songs, like murmur twins, Happy Angel, True Love, RED ZONE, and rainbow rainbow. I also highly appreciated the inclusion of console songs I always wanted to play in the arcade because sometimes I couldn't find or ever get the right console game that had a particular console-only song, such as PARANOiA ~Respect~ (Party Collection), MAXIMIZER (EX US), and SEDUCTION (EX2). A lot of console songs were also all-time favorites of mine, like Love is Orange, MAXIMIZER, and SEDUCTION, and it was great to see all of them show up on SuperNOVA. I miss the song title backgrounds, though, but I could easily do without it in favor of the high score system.
I also really liked the interface. I've been a sucker for celestial computer themes that are predominately red even before SuperNOVA. The constant animation throughout the interface was a nice touch, too.
Close 2nd would be EXTREME, because it sucked how some of my favorites got axed out in SuperNOVA's final songlist. Songs like I'M IN THE MOOD FOR DANCING, So Deep, Rhythm and Police, Witch Doctor, and Burning the Floor Momo Mix will be missed. But I think more good came out of SN's songlist than bad for my personal tastes since I appreciated many of the new-to-DDR songs and console music premieres.
I'd say 5th mix comes in for 3rd. A lot of great old school songs were on that mix that didn't make it to EXTREME, like Butterfly (Upswing Mix), Boom Boom Dollar K.O.G. Mix and that IF YOU WERE HERE remix (Man, I hate the original that still made it to EXTREME in comparison), to name a few. _________________
PARANOiA KCET ~clean mix~ - TRIP MACHINE ~luv mix~
Orion.78 ~Civilization Mix~ - La Senorita Virtual
Healing Vision ~Angelic Mix~ - MAX.(period)
Fascination ~eternal love mix~ - Pluto Relinquish
2MB (~great remixing for intense gameplay~)

i like Supernova's songlist, but the timing on the machine is bleh. Aside from that i'd say Extreme. Though the only other machine i've played on besides those two is 3rd Mix korean _________________

Extreme.
Max2 Is in second because it got me hooked on DDR, and I like its interface more than Extreme's TBH.
Supernova in third Because even though its good, it needs something more
(Cartoon heroes with BG movie would've been nice, I mean what, all/most the Paranoia songs have new BG vids right?) |

FINALLY, SOMEONE DIDN'T SAY EXTREME!
I personally think Extreme is over rated. I like 5th Mix, 7th Mix, and *gets ready to be shot by an ITG fanboy* Supernova better. |
