yeh well i see real nerdy ppl get up there and play and fall on their asses while cool ppl can still do well. but i mean as i see it there's a few stereotypes we can apply here.
all ddr players:
-> own/have read manga or know what it is
-> are men/look like men (haha jk)
-> has been in/owns something from hot topic
and you might be a ddr player if:
-> you're reading this
-> you tap to non-ddr songs
-> upon hearing a ddr song, you go through the steps quietly to yourself
-> you miss the ddrfreak store
-> people that get Bs on 8 footers piss you off
-> you know who (insert ddr player's name) is
-> you bring a seperate pair of ddr shoes when you play and change shoes while the douchebag 10 year old girl in front of you finishes doing tomorrow for the second time with her brother _________________

I am a DDR player and ...
I've never read any manga before and I think its really gay.
I've never been in Hot Topic and I never plan too.
I've gotten AA's on all ten footers before Supernova, after that I stopped playing. _________________

socializing with ddr players is hard for me because they always act like im just some stupid person who doesnt know anything but butterfly...they always act surprised that im actually a "decent" player and they ignore me as much as possible...
here's how a typical ddr day is for me:
i see a (usually nerdy looking ) guy accompanied by some friends watching him play ddr and doing really good, then i go up to him when he's done with the song and compliment him and ask him if i can play the next round with him...he usually shrugs and says "yea sure" and then keeps playing. then when he's done, he starts using "ddr lingo" like psmo, AAA, oni, etc with his friends, and ignores me standing there waiting for him to put his money/coins in the machine. so then it's my turn to say "hey are you ready to play?" and he'll be like "oh yea, sorry" and then he'll say random stuff to his friends and they'll laugh, at which point we're already at the song wheel. so i dont like to pick songs when i play, and i'll ask them to pick...and while they're picking i use some "ddr lingo" which they always seem surprised at (all i have to say is psmo and they look shocked), and they always pick a stupid song like smile or burning the floor and they ask me "can you do this song?" and i'll say "ill try!"...then we usually get an A or AA and i ask to pick the next song, which is usually a 9 footer and i look at them and ask "is this ok??" and they just shrug or they tell me "it's really hard" (which makes me really mad every time), so we play and blahblahblah...and by the time were done playing our round, i try to make conversation with them, you know, like "wow that so fun! you did good!" and it usually goes one of both ways: they are just plain weird and walk off with their friends without saying anything (not even like good game or whatever), or they ACTUALLY TALK BACK and we become friends....
the thing here is, the one that mostly happens is the one where they walk away!! am i that scary or something?? what the heck! is there an explanation to this or am I the weird one?? |

my mommy says all the kids at school who pick on me will be taking orders from me when we're older!!!!
yes, we are geeks. ddr usually comes w/:
-obsession with anime
-obsession with naruto subbed
-obsession with reading manga
-obsession with playing video games
-obsession with getting insane girls
-obsession with geeky obsessions
get it now? |
In other words, DDR player = geek because of stereotype?
fail hard.
Just because there are stereotypes associated with DDR, again, means jack shit as that person may very well not fall into those categories. It also goes back to the judgement of people based on one thing idea I mentioned earlier, which no matter how one slices it, in my opinion, only promotes arrogance, elitism, and more pain-in-the-buttocks-isms for those who play DDR and do other things, managing to stay out of the many stereotypes. _________________

Usually? None of those apply to me, and I don't even know any DDR players who fit that description.

Popezilla wins the thread.
Of course, the obove things didn't apply for me, but these do:
-I shop at Zumiez and American Eagle. Goth and Emos raid our arcade.
-I don't read manga, I like martial arts though.
-I wear my streetshoes to play (Adidas), no special shoes.
-I don't go through the steps while someone is playing, BTW, I've noticed in our area only DDR players want to shadow; i think they just want to show off.
I like those stereotypes.
BTW, that Uncyclopedia thing is just a joke. I'm Azn and people still beat me. _________________

I don't know what sucks more, the thread itself, or the way people justify the sucky arguments with sucky justifications. _________________
