Usually when i play ITG, i love playing songs that use a lot of hands. the problem is that whenever there are hands during holds, when i reach down to hit the arrow with my hand, i lose my freeze because i weigh too little, i guess. this happens to me all the time when i play queen of light on expert.
i am a 102 pound girl and i would like to know how to get the hands without losing my holds. any girls out there that have the same problem as me? or am i the only one... _________________

Ehmm.. Is this an arcade machine or homepad?
Homepad - It's obviously your pad, as most of them are crappy but still super sensitive. (and require barely any weight to even keep them held down + repeating)
Arcade - Try the froggy position and keep your feet flat on the arrows if possible (It doesn't sound serious, but I have to do it >.<) _________________

You know how frogs sit, right? You basically have your two feet flat, and you bend over to hit the other arrows with your hands while still keeping your feet flat..It's uncomfortable, but if your arcade has sensitive pads, it'll work. _________________

yeah, doing frog squat is usually the best way since you can keep your weight on your feet. Though it usually hurts your legs more than just leaning over and hitting the arrows. If you're fast enough, you can remove your foot from the hold and hit the arrow, then return your foot back to the hold arrow before the hold gets counted as a miss _________________

don't feel too bad about it, most players I know at 120 to 130 lbs locally have similar issues. try to balance weight as evenly as possible, or cheat them, which is tough to do with holds. try different techniques (a few mentioned here already), and stick with one that works for you. _________________

When I'm at an arcade, if a song has more than five hands - or any three-note holds, I don't play it. Besides the fact that most pads have terrible sensors, that shit can be disgusting. I mean, I wipe the sweat off of my body with those hands. It should be noted that I'm not a competitive player, really.
I make exceptions for dedicabs. _________________

I've only played hands once or twice, but the time I did it, I used my palms to hit the arrows. I weigh around 140 lbs, however. I just concentrated a lot on the feet and slapped down for the hands. |

You've never heard of doing it froggy style? What a small world you live in... _________________

Well to help i weigh about 100 pounds myself, so i can pretty much help with this. Well some hands are easier to put more weight on your legs to keep the holds. for example. If there is a Left right hold and an up comes up, its alot easier to put more weight on ur legs. but on a left right and a down comes its a bit harder to do cause its easy to lose balance.
Some holds may be dropped from time to time but dont worry about it, just try to put more weight on ur legs _________________

Hand freezes can be a function of the machine - so first, make sure the machine is good and sensitive.
Second, try narrowing your point of pressure, for instance holding the freezes with your palms (as if you were doing a palm strike in wushu). This works for me. _________________

I weigh 90, and I can do hands. It could be your pad, that's what it was for me.
Also, make sure not to bend over and stick your butt in the air. Keep your butt down (froggy style). _________________

I weigh 92 lbs and have had very few, if any problems with this. I don't know what I do that makes me keep the holds but I do. That is assuming I can hold holds on given pad in the first place; most arcades aren't sensitive enough >_> |

You put more pressure on the pad immediately upon contact, so try holding hand freezes by rapidly slamming the pad with your palms (while of course maintaining pressure with your feet for those freezes). If you hit it fast enough the freeze should stay held. Pretend it's a hand roll. _________________

I sort of have that problem too when I'm holding both feet on freeze arrows, and then I have to do a hand freeze too. I find it best to focus all my weight and tap the hand freeze on beat, instead of trying to hold it.

yeah i guess i should try to do that once i go back to the arcade soon. queen of light expert is especially hard cuz it requires a lot of hand freezes. _________________
