A friend of mine is getting a mac and read about the open source program PyDDR.

http://www.macgamer.com/features/?id=1481

He wants to know if this is a viable option to use to play DDR on his Mac pretty worry free. Being from the PC/Stepmania community, I've no clue how the mac'ers fare with PyDDR. Is this program really good and pretty straightforward to install and download? Also, what advice would you have in terms of getting a reliable PS2 to Mac convertor for a PS2 pad? I'd hate to see him stuck on the keyboard.

Any information greatly appreciated, thanks!

I've been a Mac user since last Christmas and haven't heard of this yet. I'll try it out later maybe, but I don't see why he doesn't just use StepMania.

PyDDR is a dead project. Last release was around two years ago.

StepMania and In The Groove work just fine on the Mac. I haven't tried every brand of USB adaptor on the market, but the ones I've tried have worked just fine.

Thanks for the replies.

Has anyone been successful using the PC-native pump pads for the mac on stepmania? (not the Xbox ones for Exceed 2, the USB pads that work with the PC versions of Pump It Up)

Hey all. If anyone has any tips or tricks for getting my DDR Universe 360 Mat to work with my iMAC and Stepmania that would be great. It is a USB mat so I thought it would "just work" but apparently that is not the case. Is there some kind of driver I need or does this mat just not work with iMacs?

Thanks. Great site.

3.95 CVS* supports some pads 3.9 doesn't.

*: and 4.0 betas, but those are buggy

If you buy me one I'll try it with my iMac. Until then, you'll have to do what duskwolf said.
