It seems like Cobalt Flux has been pumping out a lot of bad pads lately. Is it because they're ordering cheap parts? My birthday is coming up, and do you think it'd be a good idea to wait on my purchase? |

Theyre making a lot of pads because people ordered a lot of pads. The flux that I received on the 10th works perfectly still and all of the others are as well.
Its up to you. |

Can someone answer this simple question? Do the new control boxes work with the xbox 360? |

Alright, hopefully in two weeks or so the company will have the parts. A bunch of reviews lately say that Fluxes aren't so good. |

I guess its been a hit and miss type of situation.
My friend and I ordered our pas on the same day, and received on the same day(the 10th) and so far, nothing wrong.
300$ performance.

Im actually worried if there are reviews of some bad fluxes.
Or are you talking about the december - feb shipment? That was a horrible one. |

Yeah, it might be that shipment (some people from April I believe, don't know if the shipment is still bad). I guess it's hit or miss with everything. Most of the reviews say they are amazing though. Worse comes to worst, I can always exchange it for a better one. Thanks for the help. |

It is velcro, don't worry much about it. My Flux's corner buttons "crack" all the time. _________________

I do have one more question.
Mines new like I said. I was just wondering if every other ones new one had no cut off corners on the arrow decals.
Mine are fully square, and aren't cut off at the corners where the screws are to mimic the brackets.
It'll be pretty weird if everyone elses new ones have that, and mine doesn't... |
You mean where the lamination is cut around the screw holes? Yeah. Mine are cut. |

Makes me wonder why they missed that out |
No idea. But the same goes for my missing screw. |

Older ones are better, I have a friend has an older one (not so old that it's a V1, but old enough) which works great. Mine is slightly new, I got it last year (I forget when exactly). It didn't work right at first, it gave me pad misses and would occasionally die out completely, for about a second. I sent it in for repair and they said it worked fine (they said that they used it for about a half hour before deciding that it was fine) and that was that, they sent it back to me. So I started playing on it, and it was awful. So I cleaned it (I used 409, which I hope didn't remove that stuff that keeps the panels from rusting), and there was a lot more dirt on it than there appeared to be. I'm surprised that it didn't get lighter in weight after I finished cleaning it. It worked pretty good after that, then I left it alone for a while. Recently I've been using it again, and it's working wonderfully. I've had no issues with it at all, in fact my scores have been better than ever. The thing with CF's is, their design makes a lot of room for problems that can occur, problems like only half of a panel working (caused by a wire not fully making contact with the sheet metal), which is a problem I've had. Sometime I want to get a Blueshark for DDR and ITG and then keep my flux for Pump and six-panel DDR. I probably won't do that until I have a second Flux though. Since I already have one, I might as well get another for double mode. I'd rather have two CF's so I can do double mode than one CF and a Blueshark that I can't do do double with. _________________

|
|
I realize that there may not be many people wanting to do this, but we have a Gamecube and I like DDR Mario Mix (I'm a beginner and it's plenty difficult for me, especially since I'm most interested in DDR as exercise). Anyway, the one problem I have is that my flat feet don't like me playing without shoes on, so I'd really like to get a metal dance pad so I can wear shoes. Alas, the ones that seem to be reviewed well don't provide built-in Gamecube support. In fact, the Afterburner (which doesn't seem to be that good, from what people are saying here) says in its FAQ that it doesn't work properly on the Gamecube even with their own universal adaptor, that it won't pick up simultaneous button presses. But I was wondering if that info was out of date as there are a number of PS2-to-GC adaptors that claim to, "now work with dance pads" - does that mean that with one of those it would work with simultaneous button presses? So... I especially want to know if anyone has had success using a Cobalt Flux with an adaptor on a GC, and if so, which adapter are you using? Or should I just give this idea up? Unfortunately, investing in a PS2 isn't in my near future, plus I really like Mario Mix anyway. |

Thanks a lot for the heads up, "videoCWK." I'll make sure everything is fine when I do get mine.
Oh and to the guy above me, it sounds like you'd be only using a metal pad for Mario Mix, which to me seems like a waste. Maybe if you get a PS2 to PC adapter you can use it on Stepmania. I'm not hating on Mario Mix, but when you do get good, the only semi-hard song you'll have to play is Bowser's Castle on Super Hard. Maybe if you get a metal pad you should look for a PS2 to USB converter or consider getting a PS2 (if you're spending 300 bucks on a pad you should get the games )
Good luck in your decision. |

It wouldn't be a waste to me if it worked. Getting a PS2, while probably in the future, isn't happening any time soon. I'm playing for exercise, and beating crazy difficult levels isn't of great import to me. I want a metal dance pad, not so that I can do that, but rather so I can wear shoes - playing in my socks hurts my feet, which is a problem especially if I'm playing regularly. Make sense? So I want to know if anyone has used the Cobal Flux (or Afterburner, or TX4000 or BlueShark) with a Gamecube and Mario Mix, using a PS2-to-GC adapter that says it supports dance pads. Does it work well?
A related question: do all PS2 dance pads essentially work the same, from the standpoint of the controller interface? I was just thinking that rather than buying a Cobalt Flux and then, perhaps, finding out that it wouldn't work with my GC, I could instead by the cheapest PS2 soft pad that I could find and see if it functioned correctly. If so, would it then be safe to assume that a Cobalt Flux would also work with the same adapter? |
