Does anyone know where I can find the metal what was used on the Pui Puni (sp?) DDR Pad (aka the lighted up one), except in dark blue, caution orange, caution gold, caution yellow, pure chrome, or in gunmetal black |

That seller does custom cuts and gives bulk discounts too. I'll probably be dealing with him a lot. _________________

Yes, that would work fine. 1/4" Plexi is fine for personal use as long as you're not real big. _________________

no one can answer that without testing it on your exact pad. it's going to depend on how big the holes you drilled in it are, how close the edge the holes are, how big the screws in the holes are, how big their heads are, how flatly the heads sit on the acrylic, what the acrylic is resting on, how much it can flex in the center, if anything else is holding it in from above (like corner brackets), whether or not the edges are rubbing against anything, where on the pad you step, how hard you step, what's on your feet, how hot it is....
i think that's everything. |

This is the kind of thing (along with other previous threads) that I think we could meld into one big sticky (since we're sticky-heavy as it is). The lighting design concepts would also go in there. |

Ok I was assuming that the panels had never been hit by a hammer... since i cant see any reason you would do that.... |

Being STRONGLY considered. Would probably make the DIY thread that at some point. More reorganization in this forum is almost certainly required at this point. |

Yeah, my logic is also that we could probably take all 300ish pages of the current thread and summarise them all onto 1 friendly front page, along with the lighting thread, this thread, etc. Then, a lot of people on here wouldn't spend hours reading through thousands of posts and STILL have questions. Everytime I hear "okay, so I just finished reading through the whole thread, and I was wondering. . ." I cringe in pain. _________________

Heya, I randomly foudn you on google! So... sorry I'm late
Sheet metal can be bought from home depot, but you will not find it coloured (to my knowledge), it'll be the natural color of the metal.
The metal I used was painted aluminum I picked up from my friend. It is leftover metal from an illuminated sign box (like, the big illuminated sign above a retail store). He owns a sign company, so he got it wholesale from a wholesale distributor. Almost all backlit signs that are made are put into these aluminium boxes which are made by bending sheets of it, and they come pre-painted with like, electrostatic painting methods so the coat is perfectly smooth and doesn't come off easily. Beats the *crap* out of trying to paint it yourself. You could probably find it black, not sure about other colors. The sign box is not supposed to be the focus of your attention so they make them neutral colors.
Distributors that sell signbox material wholesale usually don't want to talk to individual customers. They'd rather sell $20,000 of materials to a larger company. So, if you went to those signage companies that made these kind illuminated box signs, and asked for scrap, you could probably find some good stuff there. _________________
