I, for one, don't care about the slightly different dimensions.
I don't know about your "arcade mod," though. And I'll have to learn more about the necessity of modifying my control box at some point, if I continue to enjoy 5-panel dance. _________________

The biggest problem I've had with PIU was it was a pain for me to read the arrows. Do I hate the game as a result? Nope. The music's not bad, though I wish I had more time to actually "learn" the music. Sad.. I have the PS2 version, but it's a pain to play it on the control pad, and the softpads are never good to use.
Pump PRO, if it does some of the same things that ITG did *I LOVED how the pads were setup because unlike DDR, I could do a full kneeslide across the pad without ripping my pants off*, and home stepcharts, I could dig and learn 5 panel. Especially if they can make the arrows more like DDR/ITG with colors representing step timing instead of arrows.. But that's just my $2.

I think the pads are good like that. But I don't quite know. I don't have the proper experience to tell.

| Yeah, even all arrows the same color is easier because I don't get confused and think something is an eighth or sixteenth note. _________________

Just in case we didn't all catch that. It has been implemented since the beginning. _________________

This just makes me miss pump it up in my area even more.
If this is the next venture for ITG will it still utilize the usb system? _________________

I do not believe that USB capability has been implemented yet, but it is on its way, as far as I'm aware.

As in, the default noteskin has quarter notes as blue arrows, eighth notes as red arrows, and 16th notes as yellow arrows. If I remember correctly, though, players have the option to revert to the traditional PIU noteskins. _________________

I'm glad you are excited. With regards to freestylability (I doubt that is a word), I believe there is a step level on each song specifically devoted to freestyling.

I think you're wrong here. Most ITG players (the ones that aren't stupid anyway) don't dislike Pump because it's 5-panel; they dislike it because of everything that's wrong with the game (miserable interface, no timing window, etc). PIU Pro will seemingly fix all of the things there are to dislike about Pump, so ITG players would have no reason not to play this game. |
as a Pump player your idea of what is wrong with Pump it Up is wrong... there is absolutely nothing wrong with the timing window, the interface is not miserable unless your playing PREX2-PREX3 Premiere 2 and older international releases are fine so are Exceed-NX (especially NX!)
The timing window can be adjusted in the operators menu... but of course you didn't know that because you probably don't play PIU or have freedom to change the settings on the machine... if your going to argue about the timing window... similarly ITG1 and 2 allow you to adjust the life bar difficulty... in other words one with a low percentage can pass a song with the life bar settings low enough.
so it's just a feature trade off... adjust the timing window in PIU or adjust the life bar in PIU PRO either way it results in either game being easier.
Also ITG players aren't going to switch to this game because of a extra "Superb" timing... think about it... 4 panel players stick to 4 panel games because they absolutely refuse to learn to play 5 panel... trust me... most DDR/ITG players are extremely loyal to their control layout and can't even be convinced to try other dance games like Dance Maniax or Pump it Up... of course there are a few exceptions but a few exceptions isn't going to make this fly off the ground.... especially if the pricing looks anything like this :
Pump it Up NX - GX : $6,500
Pump it Up NX - FX : $9,750
Pump it Up PRO - GX - $9,999
just using that price because ITG2 cost that much when it came out with Andamiro making the cabs.
Tell me : what operator in their right mind would go for PRO in a GX when FX comes with a nice plasma for just under that price? Unless I hear otherwise I'm going to have to assume PRO will cost as much as ITG2. |

The USB is the main thing that keeps me addicted to ITG (love keeping track of where my money is going) So hopefully it won't take too long...
That and moving a machine closer... since the closest one is an hour and a half away.
Any word on planned locations?? _________________

You're missing the point. How can you compare your scores to everyone elses when there's no standardized timing window, or when the standardized timing window is so huge that it doesn't matter? Suggesting we just magicaly gain access to the operating menu to change the timing window doesn't solve the problem that the timing window is huge in pump and itg players don't like that. |

hmm... last pump that had "freestyable" steps, I wanted to walk off the machine in pissed off anger. Esp. since I didn't know that freestyle meant both pads, and some REALLY odd steps. *remember, my definition of freestyle doesn't include insane bar hops/bboy tricks* .
As for timing, to be honest, as a casual player, I've never noticed pump being too far off actually. Unless the pads were in BAD condition, the timing never really bugged me.
Notice I said casual player. Too many times I've seen this argument about "perfect" timing, and honestly, some of the timings people say were "perfect", I have to say were OFF big time! But hey, as long as the game was fun...
