OMG....
Did you guys see the Witch Doctor #1 video? Apparently Xuxa is in the songlist!
5-panel ITG songs should be awesome. |

Yes! Im so excited for this and here's something I noticed while browsing other sites.
ddrcoder on AIJ wrote: | It has a lot of the songs that ITG had, many of them being KaW songs. They've redone the steps and cut the audio for many of them so they're actually very fun to play. |

Simply awesome.
And it looks like we'll be seeing the same ITG mods as well. There was a video with a guy playing on Hallway, so that should satisfy the few who actually use that. Mines are back too. And it seems the scoring system is the same as it used to be. It's percentage based. Oh and the timing name things (Fantastic, Excellent etc.) have been changed. |

It's good to know it's actually a blend of ITG and PIU. _________________

This thread should be closed, RoXor has nothing to do with this game. There is a thread in the other bemani section about this, where it should be. |

Yeah, this will probably be locked since it was headlined. _________________

I have yet to even try out 5 panel yet, but now Im eager to get started =) . Anyways I just have a question about piup, How exactly are they rating songs on there. Like the foot rating system. Ive never played pump so I dont know if they are gonna go by the same method. Also I saw a bundle pack for Pump in Gamestop the other day, and I was wondering if it would be worth while to buy the console version of it?
Again this is awesome =) _________________

The switch from 4 panel to 5 panel wasn't that bad for me I went from hard 5/6's to crazy 14/15's within an hour.. once you get used to the 5 panel layout its really easy to get into. _________________

well the system changed going from Zero to NX and since Im a newer pump player I really don't know that much about earlier mixes but heres some of the harder ones on Zero.
but here is what a 17 looks like (this is actually alot easier than most of the 13-15 range songs for some reason)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSNinfqmSxQ
here is an 18 kinda a huge step up for one difficulty level
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64ns934ab64
and here is the Dignity a 20

just make friends with the pump players in your area and they can help you pick out songs for a while and stay away from the 18-20 range for a bit haha. _________________

wrong! i completely disagree. there are plenty of 9's, hell even one crazy 7 in piu exceed 2 thats completly worthy of being 9's in itg/ddr, however alot of the songs that go from 9 to say 10 or 14 still are around a 9 difficulty in pump or itg. The ratings are f.ucked up in that area and the new step evolution im sure will fix it because a 15-16 is around an 11 in itg. at least thats how i feel. so there really isn't any arguing over a 9 in itg or ddr is harder then pump, the real complaint should be the range between 10 and 15 because i have never seen a fairly easy 16. (although i'll give u all my love is very easy) _________________

Currently, the REAL concern for most PIU players is that this product will make it difficult for official PIU mixes from Korea to enter the US ever again. If PIU Pro turns out to be horribly flawed, this will be disastrous for the reputation of future PIU mixes in the USA, and it's already hard enough to KEEP PIU in certain areas in America. In essence, here's the formula that distinguishes PIU from DDR/ITG:
Funbox wrote: | -music from Korea that gives Pump music a distinguishable flavor of its own from a distinct culture
-"fun" nature where the focus is on enjoying yourself and immersing yourself in the music rather than getting perfect scores on songs
-the hip-hop, freestyle-like element that no other game has in any way... the breakdancing feel... the laxed nature where the game has easy grading to allow you to do improv freestyles on the machine and still do well when playing
-not being focused on "standardization" (all songs follow the same formula, level scale, and general features) but rather being more into experimentation (Another steps, various gimmick charts, remixes, full songs, crazy World Tour missions with hilarious requirements, Raw/Bee A-NM, etc etc etc)
-the general VIBE that Pump presents which no game can emulate in any way |
That was from Funbox/Turkeyslam, a fellow PIU player. I feel that if the final version adheres to this formula, while Kyle Ward adds good stuff of his own, then this game will make many happy... but if it deviates too far from this formula, this game is doomed to be hated by many.
Also, for anyone who plays both ITG and PIU, this little IM conversation might be of interest:
http://jboyxz.livejournal.com/207177.html
It's JBoy, a very skilled player for both ITG AND PIU (WPF 2006 Representative), and I think he pretty much points out the flaws of using the ITG system with a PIU pad, which is what the alpha of PIU Pro appears to be like. Of course, make sure to read Kyle Ward's little blurb too to put it in perspective.
That little blurb is here:
http://kyle-ward.com/index.php/2007/03/12/pump-it-up-pro-comments/
I myself feel that PIU is already hard enough for the stepper talent available in the USA and don't see the point of catering to a market that could very well be satisfied by the original PIU... ah well, we'll see what happens. _________________

as a PIU fan, i am absolutely disgusted by this.
i saw pics of the theme, and MAN IT LOOKS UGLY!! seriousely, with a few weeks of practice, i could whip up a better theme than that! also, i play PIU because i like the hip hop flavor of it. i love how it has great music from all around the world, as apposed to a buncha trance/'hardcore on ITG. dont get me wrong, i like ITG, but PIU is the dance game thats "different." i dont want ITG songs redone in 5 panel.
PIU is the most underappretiated dance game, and its probably the best. ITG and DDR players over look it because it's "different", yet you'll notice it offers far more challenge and even better, multiple step charts that offer completely different challenges! i highly doubt roxor can make freestyle charts like andamiro can.
so flame me now, i dont care. its just i hope PIU doesnt go down the crapper and that andamiro still makes mixes in the US. also, what does this mean for the fate of the US in WPF? _________________

Any YouTube videos of this? (My Windows Media Player won't play the videos.)
And if an arcade around here bothers to get this, I'll try it out, but seriously, I don't care. 5 panel doesn't appeal to me. Crossovers are fine, but steps like DL, center, UL, center, UR, center, UL, center practically force you to turn backwards. I don't know, and I really don't care about this. |
