Link doesnt work... I think their links only work if HD will ship in your area... can you post a screenshot of the product? | Oh, yeah, I think links simply don't work with Home Depot products. I'd forgotten about that. If you search "sheet steel" and click the masterflow sheet steel, that's what I'm looking at getting.
Oh no! I didn't realise my procrastination was KILLING people! If that's the case, I'll make sure to finish them ASAP!

I did; it's just the stuff used for steps on trucks and stuff. The tearsheet (traanplaat) isn't available in the US. I might try to see if I can get some imported though. _________________

would the DT600/DT610 hold up in a semi-commercial environment?
I'm building an SM machine for my school, and it would be much more efficient to buy a doubles DT600 or DT610 than to build because of the prices.
we have about 10-15 serious players, and about 50+ casual/they'll play a few games.
anyway, would it hold up with minimal need for repair?
EDIT: I know it cant be made "arcade-compatible", but that is ok since we're using a pc to run SM

Build me a SM machine! I'll pay you $1000! minus $1500.. | I'll build you one for $18k. Steel plated, 7 speakers, 32" Flatscreen display, HP or Dell (your choice) desktop w/ room for over 25,000 songs and 3GHz+ processor and 512 RAM, DT500 18" Doubles Dance Stage (bars, stairs, 8" borders; etc), built-in air conditioning system, any lighting style you want, and custom marquee. Am I forgetting anything?
Add-ons:
-Coin slots: $100 each (Disclaimer: Dancing Tofu Gaming does not endorse the use of prohibited commercial use of StepMania programming or songs. Coin slots should be used for entertainment only)
-Bass Amplifier: $800
-Other: prices negotiable.
-Dancing Tofu song sampler; a bunch of songs we're licensed to make money off of. $FREE!*
I'm 100% serious about this. I'll be making one for myself this summer if I have time around orders and enough money.
*=This doesn't mean all that much though, because it'll available for free on our website too. . .
Tenchi50,
DT600's should be able to handle industrial use, as long as the weight limit is never exceeded (300 lbs current weight limit of player; we'll be testing it.) and they're not terribly abused. I don't know how they will be able to hold out on 11's and up. DT610's are about the same, but the lexan panels may crack from long-term use. _________________

As long as they hold up 6 months+ we'll be good. Depending on the use of the machine, we're either going to upgrade all the parts with $$ we've made from it, or jjust pull it and stick it in my basement. thanks.
let me know when you have 2 DT610's ready for shipment. |

Would you like me to find a way to do some detachable doubles brackets, or do you have the room to store 'em with a doubles baseboard? _________________

Depending how it works, i might or might not buy it. | I need to sand all the parts down so that the angles are all right, but otherwise, I think the construction will go well and it'll play great. Also, keep in mind that my first of everything is almost always my worst. My first duct tape wallet was cool, the second was rockin', and the third and fourth were godly (the customers liked them alot). That's why I plan on making a total of three prototypes. I can generally get it right by the third try. =)
Hopefully, however, like the duct tape wallets, my first DDR pad can be good, my second can be great, my third can be perfect, and my fourth can be MARVELLOUS! _________________

Keeping you guys posted:
DT600 prototype construction:
-Almost all wood cut
-Bad angles because I couldn't find my square
-Working on sanding down the parts so that they fit together right.
-Was going to go to HD today and see if I could get my sheet steel there, but there were two medical emergencies in my family, so I wasn't able to. I'll try to go on Friday.
-I have some wood left over, but I was hoping to save it for the next pad. Should I cut up my scrap wood and replace the worst of the misshapen parts and get it finished fast, or save money and just sand the misshapen parts down?
-I'm finally to wiring. I have 3 old Dualshock 2's, an old konami softpad chip, and a generic metal pad chip. Which should I use for this one? _________________

Try making an 11" square in a CAD or paint program and printing it out (if it has to span two pages just draw a squigly pattern down the middle of the square that will appear on both pages so you can match them up perfectly once you print it. Anyway, glue that to a piece of cardboard with some rubber cement or spray adhesive and cut it out and use it to trace all your squares... it saves a TON of time measuring, especially if you plan on making a lot of these things.
Also I dont know how you did your cuts, but i find i get better cuts freehand with a jigsaw than by relying on a fence to slide the base of the saw against. wear a good pair of goggles so you can get your eyes close to the saw and really watch where you're cutting.
ymmv. |

Oh, yeah, that.
I just felt like 2 add-ons wasn't enough. Seriously, nobody would actually pay 25 cents per song when they can just them for free on the internets.
I'll take it out. xP
Bemani Dog, does it cost me moneys? In case you haven't noticed, I don't like spending money on things that just help me spend money. xD
Devout, thanks, I'll try that idea (with slight variation). I also have something I think you might be able to help me with: do you know of any good way to guide a saber-saw straight when making cuts? My hand can't seem to hold mine steady on cuts, and it's a bit of a problem for me, as you might imagine. _________________
