Well, I finally made my first simfile, so there's proof that it CAN be done. Took me a while to figure it out though.
Maybe you should check it out, I spent quality time on the steps. _________________

I just got StepMania yesterday, and I am having problems getting some songs. I downloaded the song Innocence of Silence, and when it finished, it apppeared on my iTunes. Am I supposed to click and drag it into the song folder?
Also, I downloaded the Pac-Man theme off StepMania, and no matter what difficulty I selected, it gave me this ridiculously hard 13 footer. Unlike the other songs I tried to get it said it was successfully installed right after the download. How come some songs do that, and some songs don't?
I'm really confused now.
I'd appreciate it if someone could help me out, and tell me exactly how to get songs.
Thank you. |

Every song in a mix has to have its own folder, with the MP3/OGG file, and a DWI/SM file. Banner and BG are optional.
Some songs only have one difficulty made for them, such as the Pac-Man theme which I believe is a keyboard file (meant for hardcore SM players). _________________

After I finish downloading some songs, they appear in my iTune, like a regular song on my mp3.
So I create a folder (ie: SuperNOVA), and drag the song into it? |

Alright, thanks for clearing that up. |

Alright, so I want to make a simfile for a song I have on my computer. I have the song in OGG and I put it in its own folder in my Songs>Other folder in Stepmania. I copied a random SM and DWI file and it would never open in Edit Mode. How can I just generate a blank simfile that has no association with any songs? I am so confused. _________________

You might need to put in the header information (#TITLE, #ARTIST, #BPM, etc.) Of course, you can just punch in a random BPM if you're not sure since it's easy to alter the synching in Edit Mode. _________________

alright, I changed the titles and stuff, but when I looked at the BPM, there were like all these decimal numbers and stuff and I had no clue what to do there. I put in the song's BPM but it still didn't work.
Is it okay to put in decimals for BPM? The song is 123.16. _________________

Okay. But it still won't load in edit or game mode. _________________

Hey guys I have a tiny problem. Well Ive been putting some songs on a card for R21 (.ogg) and they have been very quiet when played way more quiet than the ITG songs. Is there a way to raise the volume on the songs before external sources get to them? I just cant find the way or the program. Thanks in advance. |

I'm asking the same question. I have quite a few songs that have low sound and I don't want to have to turn the volume up and down. _________________

Hey, on SM there are differnent colored arrows for different notes (like 64th notes or 8th notes). Whats the difference? Does it matter? _________________

A 64th note can mean the difference between a Marvelous and a Perfect. If you're not sure how to properly quantitize steps, play it at a slower speed to magnify the difference between notes. _________________
