Is this aimed at me or the general guitar hero fanbase of america, because you know damned well that they wouldn't because THEY DON'T CARE. They like what is CONVENIENT to them and aren't gonna bother IMPORTING anything from japan, especially a game that's most likely FULL of japanese rock music and music with guitars in it. The music on guitar hero appeals to the AMERICAN audience, and that's what they're aiming for in the first place. Don't like it, whatever. For every one weaboo who hates GH, there's about a hundred american frat boys and gamers who love it.

To start off I'd like to point out:

Mike Blitz wrote:
weaboo

laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif you have to be kidding, FLCL is like the ultimate weeaboo anime, so don't even start with that.

And you're jumping to conclusions. I have GF4/DM3 for PS2 and I loved the variety of it. Hardly any of it is Japanese, and even less of it is overbearingly so. Don't let jpopforlife's criticisms of Guitar Hero ruin your perception of Freaks. Also I can confidently say that Depend on You (by ayumi hamasaki) is easily one of my most hated songs on GFDM. You know why? Cause the song and notechart is simplistic and repetitive as fuck. That's why I don't like most of Guitar Hero. At least Depend On You is short, though.
Anyways, I guess the comment was aimed mostly at you cause my post was about why I personally don't like Guitar Hero, not why it is intrinsically a poopy game due to factors beyond the average american's comprehension (coughjpop4lifecougH). I realize how it was marketed, and I realize a lot of morons like the game. That doesn't change the reasons why I myself objectively find it hard to enjoy.

FIRST of all, I'm laughing at the fact that you think FLCL is the most weaboo anime ever. I can think of PLENTY more. Either way, I'm glad you assumed that I was a total weaboo just because I really like ONE anime show, because it just makes you look ignorant. But that's besides the point.

I'll apologize right now for assuming a japanese guitar game would be full of japanese music (which is a more rational assumption than assuming I'm a japanophile because of my sig and avatar, I believe). However, you guys have to realize that guitar hero isn't aimed towards the music fan base that has already been established by past games. It's aimed at a 'new generation' of music game fans, which is why they won't even add TIMING to the damn game. Guitar hero is supposed to please the fans who just want something 'pick up and play', and the fans of rock music. You'd think any rock fan would want their song edited and shorter? No, no they wouldn't. I also think they wouldn't care about repetitive charts because, to be honest, this is a pick up and play game. If they wanted to add variety to the game, they'd add different music (as said by you guys), and it hasn't happened.

Devil: Just because someone likes a certain anime doesn't mean that they're a weaboo. And of COURSE I know what a weaboo is, otherwise I wouldn't be throwing the word around and making myself look like a retarded pseudo-knowitall.

However, I'll end the arguement here by saying that Guitar hero is aimed at a different audience than the people here, and its a either "love it or hate it" game. We all have different opinions, and we can throw posts on here until our e-penises are raw from the manhandling, but this thread isn't going to change anyone's opinions. I know Jpop is just going to keep on worshipping japan and I'm gonna keep on playing guitar hero and El Band geek is going to keep on playing an instrument and the world will stay as is.

Conclusion: Guitar Hero is aimed at a VERY SPECIFIC AUDIENCE. If you're not part of this VERY SPECIFIC AUDIENCE, you're going to have your gripes with this game.

Yeah Guitar Hero gets repetitive, but so does Guitar Freaks and GF also has long songs. And I guess the game isnt for you after playing guitar freaks. As fr people being dumb and not knowing about gf being before gh or about beatmania, get used to it! people are ignorant and dumb and there is way too many people like that, if you dont like them then avoid them as much as possible.

ok, im just getting pissed. its NOT THE frick MUSIC!! THERE IS A LOT OF MUSIC I LIKE THATS NOT FROM JAPAN!!! i'd say maybe 50% tops of my favorite songs come from japanese artists. yet since mike blitz has yet to grasp the concept of that, i guess i'm just a dumb japanophile.

since i dont want to start any more flame wars, lock this thread!

You STILL haven't presented a valid argument as to why you truly don't like GH, and why you think there shouldn't be a craze about it, so yeah. You are a dumb japanophile.

Seconding the lock, but not doubting the appearance of another one like it by the same author.

To which I responded that the general audience the creators were aiming for would hate GH2 for editing their songs. Hell, DDR fans hate edits just as much as anyone else. Think of it that way. Besides, I don't want to play an edit of Heart Shaped box, I wanna play the whole god damned thing.

I tried leaving it at that. See long post above.

I actually haven't heard it, since the demo at my job has only 8 songs. I want to play it though. it could also be that I have no taste, since I loved a lot of the trash covers in GH1. Either way, I have more fun playing the song chart than actually listening to it. I HATE anthrax, but I have mad fun playing madhouse on the demo.

It gets way too repetitive after about 3 minutes. I mean, it just seems like I keep playing the same part over and over again. The only good parts are the solos.

Have you ever played a guitar before? I would assume that, for the most part, playing an actual song would follow the same pattern. That is, unless, you have no solid pattern in your song. I COULD be wrong, though; I don't play the guitar.

EBT, thanks for the advice. Now I know not to be crushed when the cover of Nirvana's song sucks hard. Still, I'm planning on getting the game this weekend.

that's because you actually KNOW how to play. People who don't know how to play can just pick up guitar hero and play it for what's on it. Last I checked, drunk frat boys don't really play that much guitar, as well as most of the rest of the owners of the game. So while you can actually play a guitar, we'll enjoy the mock version, thank you very much.

You have to realize that to actual musicians and music game lovers, this is HORRID. however, to the audience that this game is aimed to, its not so much a "holy shit this is taking FOREVER." as it is a "HOLY SHIT I'M PLAYING A GUITAR FOR NINE MINUTES!!!!!! biggrin.gif "

it all comes down to taste and audience targeting. Hopefully Jpop got the message and doesn't come back with some other crap excuse about why he needs to bash american music games just for the sake of it.
