DDRFreak is one of the most mature forums compared to other message boards out there (and thats saying a lot), and the reason is because of the rules here. It is to keep the boards from falling into chaos, and it has worked very well. As long as you know what you are doing and you're not a retard, the rules shouldn't be a problem.

I agree with this. In my opinion the forums are fine the way they are. _________________

Why are you guys arguing with crunchwrap? He's not going to accept anything you have to say, so why bother? _________________

No moderator is to call anyone a douche here, and additionally we don't lock because we are bored. People make unintelligent posts because they are bored. _________________

Man - you guys remind me of an older brother who thinks he's better than everyone else, and who's a smart-a** . Once again - it turned the word a** into "buttocks"! How do I turn off that stupid bad-word filter? |

Wow, that's just amazing.
And to bypass the filter, you must put a tag inbetween the letters of the word. Don't do it with a tag that does things like quote though, because that will mess it up. Here's an example:
Code: | That raccoon was eating it's own shit |
It doesn't matter which of the letters you put it inbetween. _________________

These forums have a very happy medium. Sure, there is some censoring, but if you occasionally swear (under ok circumstances) you won't get instant-ban for it. You probably won't even get a warning if its every once in a while.
The organizational control is excellent because everything is easy to find. And since our mods don't necessarily have the time to move every topic they should, I think a lock and a "make a new thread" comment works fine.
Also, compare this board to other major forums. Heck, take other arrow-smashy forums. FFR is rediculously out of control with pointelss threads everywhere and no moderation of comments or organization. I find that Bemanistyle is poorly organizaed and it can sometimes be a pain to find exactly what you're looking for (though besides that and the amount of morons that post there its a great forum).
DDR Freak on the other hand is well organized and well kept up. New people to the boards are eased into the process and for the most part there isn't a giant problem with trolls or anything (though a few do come to mind). Everything is in its place and set up nice and neat. And people don't use foul language in every other post which keeps this board readable for those of us that think overuse of foul language is immature and pointless. There are good topics, discussions, debates, and users on this board. If you'd perfer a board with mass chaos, go to 4chan or ODI (omgdidinsane). Otherwise don't complain. DDR Freak boards are fine. |

"And you remind me of a twelve-year-old who thinks he knows better than everyone else."
That's what I mean - there's a sarcastic remark on every other post, and I actually don't think I'm better than anyone else - that's just the vibe I get from you guys. And also - from the looks of your responses and smart comebacks, it seems like you guys are 18 and above. I feel it's kind of weird for 20-year-olds to be hanging out a lot on forums. This place feels like it should be a hang-out for people who are 14, not 20 ! When my dad was growing up, all there was to do was play baseball, etc. - now there's 20 year-old (goths lol) on forums all day! Talk about a difference in generations ! BRING ON THE SARCASTIC STATEMENTS!!! |

The mods let sarcasm slide most of the time, but sometimes it goes too far and turns into flamebaiting, or just outright flames. That's when the mods step in.

Its not that we think we're better than you, its just that we think we're right.

Hmm...could it be possibly because we're mature, follow the rules (For the most part), and don't bitch and moan when a moderator steps in?

You'd be surprised how many people here ARE 14 years old, or even younger! Its just that the other 14 year-olds follow the rules and don't complain about it, so they seem mature, and therefore seem to be 18+ years old.

Not sure why you put the goth reference in. I fail to see any connection between 20 year olds, forums, and goths. _________________

It also doesn't help you post topics that don't even belong on their respective forums, post new topics every other day (or every week) about something rather silly like "I think we need more Bemani!" Uh yeah, that's just kind of...dumb.
And if you think that it's weird for 20+ year olds to "hang out" on forums, son you're in for a real surprise with a lot of other internet forums. _________________

come on, EBT... I'd expect a hell lot more from you... I haven't been moderating since a couple of months, but you know you can report that to any other mod and he'd get the 3 pointer immediately
back on topic: in all honesty, I don't think the mods here abuse their powers nor that they are too strict... for starters, this same thread could be closed with a one liner "my way or the highway"... takes no time to use the button and finish this thing, but here they are (mods AND users) reading your post and trying to learn what has been done wrong, they have been making points on what has been done righta and why they keep on doing it that way
if you think the rules are too strict, think that you have your chance to make a point, to be read and be considered... you'll get replies, as well, your word is not the law for DDR Freak but it's taken in consideration
PS: if my engrish sucks more than usual, please bear with me as I'm effin tired _________________
