I kind of stopped playing since I got my Wii.
The videos don't come from anywhere. They were new and made just for the US version. _________________

I still play this a couple hours a day. What a great game. I'm trying to max out my scores to unlock the last song _________________

And I'm stuck on that very song on Hard ROCK difficulty. Made it all the way to the last spinner and failed before 1 BAR had it filled completely up...WTF!
(The first song that made me throw my stylus down in frustration...twice.) _________________

Ya the game is hard but anything that is frustrating is your own problem and not the game's. Which is something I like about the game... its not like ddr, for example, where songs can be off beat, etc. Plus the game is very rewarding once you figure out and memorize the patterns and be able to react to them when they come up. The learning curve of the game is excellent and it has a good scoring system as far as getting combos and the accuracy of your "taps." There's nothing in this game I hate, and it's as close to a perfect game as I would imagine a game could be. So I would not hesitate to give this game a 10/10, and seriously if you post on this site and have a DS there's no reason to not pick it up. _________________

Take it from a guy that's gotten all 300s on a handful of songs - some of the beats are off-sync. The timing window is a bit larger than that of DDR, however, so it's not quite as noticeable.
But you'll like the final bonus song. Especially if you think peanuts are the one true way to battle zombies.
I'll leave it at that for now. |
Really? I thought some of it was just odd placed notes, like that one part in the first part of Canned Heat, and a couple of sections in the last bonus song.
And I finally passed that song...phew. Makes Without A Fight look like a cakewalk.

As I said, you'll only notice the off-sync parts when you're trying to get all 300s on a song. At that point, they can become quite noticeable...
Here's a couple of the more noteworthy examples I can think of at the moment...
Ouendan:
-Taisetsuna Mono's first segment is VERY late compared to the second segment.
-Linda Linda is a bit early during the chorus, then way late during the first verse.
-Ready Steady Go is early throughout the entire song.
Elite Beat Agents:
-The Anthem has a couple of off-beat notes that are meant follow the lyrics (for example, "This is the anthem" is sung with an offset 16th, but played as a triplet).
-You're the Inspiration starts off a tiny bit late, then when it gets to the double taps ("The kind of love to last forever") it goes early. It fades back and forth from there.
-Survivor is insanely early, especially on the diagonal hits at the beginning.
Quote: | And I finally passed that song...phew. Makes Without A Fight look like a cakewalk. |
That's for sure. I only had a B on it when I first got an S on Jumpin' Jack Flash.

I agree as well. I'm not sure if this will make an impact as a "Touch Generations" game, but so far its reception in general has been quite favorable. Who knows what the future will bring? _________________

I'm still playing, albeit not as much since I've gotten to Insane & Hard Rock, and thus playing on the bus/train to and from work no longer is possible.
I'm hoping for a third game as well, in either region. |

I just heard on G4's The Feed that Reggie Fils-Aime wasn't very pleased w/ EBA's sales..... |

Here's the article from MTV:
MTV wrote: | The Nintendo DS game "Elite Beat Agents" has been one of the holiday season's critical favorites, but it was never going to be a sure-seller. While other DS games this season have sported Pokémon characters, Nintendogs and baby versions of Mario and Princess Peach, "EBA" has three secret agents dancing to pop songs in order to improve people's lives. Fils-Aime acknowledged that bringing the game to America was a risk. "I have to say I'm a little personally disappointed," he said. "The sales are strong and good. I personally thought it was going to be explosive. The consumers I've talked to who have it love it. But it's really [about] exposing it to consumers and letting them see how addictive this game is." He said he hoped for 300,000 copies sold, but as of last week, the game had sold closer to 120,000. Still, he wouldn't rule out a sequel. "The developer has been fantastic to work with and our hope is maybe this could become a new franchise." The game does conclude with the words "to be continued." . |
Emphasis on the part in bold.
Long story short, he said it sold okay, he was hoping it would do better, and he wouldn't rule out sequel. Oh, and everyone that played it likes it. _________________

Bad idea. I gave Trauma Center a shot on the Wii and my precision is worse than I thought it would be. Just imagine how bad I'd do on OTO/EBA with the Wiimote.
On another note I did get OTO (I'm getting EBA for Christmas) and it's very addicting. It's a bit hard to get used to the gameplay as I'm used to seeing little white and blue bars fall down a bunch of columns, but it's a refreshing break from those kind of games and demands more concetration--I can get away with like 15 straight misses in O2Jam and still get back on track fast enough to recover, but 1-2 misses in OTO really screw me over, cause me to tap the wrong circles, and die in a flash. |

well, i finally got to try EBA, and i was so amazed i bought it after playing it at best buy(good thing i had some headphones!) for 20 minutes. This is the first time in store advertisement has worked for me.
i was absolutely amazed. the game is amazing, in spite of the (IMO) lacking songlist. cant wait till i (hopefully) get ouendan for christmas, since the songlist problem disappears for me(orange range, AKFG, and L'arc~en~ciel FTW!!!).
anyhow, back to EBA. This game also has me laughing my buttocks off. I mean, those story lines are amazing(expecially the one with Don Tanner on walkie talkie man, LOLd at best buy right there). the concept of men helping out people by dancing to the rhythm facinates me. in fact, yesterday after playing for 5 hours then going to bed, i had a dream i was in a dilemma and the Elite Beat Agents popped outta no where and everything was good. Except they were dancing to the likes of step you by ayumi hamasaki(because this is my dream, and i make what i wanna happen happen).
god, im gonna go play it again right now. _________________

It doesn't say it after the Hard Rock credits, it just means you have another difficulty to play. _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Alright, so here's a real question...
This might seem ridiculous (and it is), but it's something I really would like a definitive answer on, if possible.
You see, my friends and I are having a bit of a dispute about the pronunciation of "Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!" Specifically, the second word. Now, while I personally believe that Tatakae should be pronounced "Ta-tah-KAY," they absolutely insist that it's pronounced "ta-tah-KYE."
I personally believe that it's "ta-ta-KAY," because it would be romanized as "tatakai" if it were pronounced the way they say it is. They, on the other hand, say that if I'm right, the hiragana would have been written with an extended "ka" symbol.
We even sat down and listened to the opening sequence (where the characters shout the title out loud), and couldn't come to an agreement. The accent was too thick for us to come to a consensus.
Several searches of google and wikipedia turned up no results (they went over virtually every vowel combination except "ae"), and the only support I got was from an online friend of mine that studies kempo and pronounces the various stances (ending in "ae") that way. But that's hardly major evidence.
I guess what I'm saying is...
"HHHEEAAALLLPPP!"
(And yes, I am aware that this is a stupid argument, but I just need to know.)
EDIT: Fixed some spelling mistakes. _________________

Ready Steady Go will have you chewing through your stylus in frustration. Goddamn that's a bitch of a song, and the 40 second (or so) musical intro really doesn't help matters. _________________
