Hmmm..... I've gotta ask. Why such a huge price difference between the DT200 and DT 500? Is the 500 of that much higher quality?
You don't have to answer. I can wait till you leek more details. |

The difference I think is the DT200 is for the actual arcade-like DDR machines. The DT500 is like home use. |

Congratulations, DancingTofu. I see that you finally opened up your DT Series of Dance Platforms. I will support you all the way. I just finished off building a DDR SuperNOVA Accurate Platform by openning up a real one and diagramming it. I ordered the 32 Sensors from MyMyBox, and they work perfectly.
Does the DT-500 sound like this? Also, what arrow design do you use for the panels?
One last thing -will you ever have a site? I'd love to see one!

DancingTofu all the way! I may buy one sometime. _________________

Daaaaaang, 32 sensors, that must have cost a ton and a half. xP
Were you able to get any sort of discount on that?
I might get the Channel Beat Sensors; maybe just 8 of them to see how they work, and if they're good, get 16 per pad, which would only be about $160 per pad. This would bring down the prices of DT500' by about $50 per platform.
DT600's don't have any arrow design by default, but if you want one, just ask.
With the DT500's, you pick your own design. I'm going to try to find someone who can print me designs on latex.
For the DT200's, the arrow is spray-painted on the bottom of coloured lexan. Then, when the led's are on, the arrow has a cool blurry glow. _________________

Well, I keep in touch with MyMyBox, so I got around $50 off the sensors. I spent around 349.99$ I tried ChannelBeat before, and they basically sell the same thing. I see no difference between the two sensors, excpet that sometimes ChannelBeat sells black ones and MyMyBox usually sells gray ones. The only hard thing I find about ChannelBeat is the actual ordering of their items. You woudl also get a hell load of customers if you brought down the price by $50 lol.
I also like the ideas for the DT200's arrow. Sounds amazing. _________________

These sound really sweet! I like that the first one is so cheap! I might think about getting one when you have some actual pictures up. _________________

Actually, hold on, I'm going to try putting together a 9:1 scale model of the DT600.
I'll be back in about 80 minutes. =)
EDIT: Nevermind, I don't have any 1/8" maple boards of the right dimensions like I thought I did. xP
Anyway, yes, LEDs + Homepads = pretty cool.
you'll probably have to get a small adaptor (3.5v DC) for them though.
And for the DT200's, you can order them so that they're either controlled by an on-off button on the pad or flash when you hit the panel.
The DT500 customs make LED's look weak though.
My personal set will have neon tubes along the sides, blacklights under the stationary panels, weak LED's under the arrow panels, neon tubes inside the Lexan and titanium bars, a fog machine in the back, steps to get onto the 18" platform, blacklights along the back of the platform, and cupholders.
And then there's the Stepmania cabinet it's going to be hooked up to. ;D _________________

I'll work on it, and yes, I have been using anim8tor!
It's been pretty useful! I'm going to get a lot of use out of it!
I'm going to try playing with the animation to see if I can get a design the goes from exploded form to constructed form while rotating at a comfortable pace. _________________

I'm bumping up this topic because I want to get a Blueshark which is $399.99. Your DT-500 seems to be better than the Blueshark and I may get this instead for several reasons.
I just have a few questions as I want to make sure I'm making the right decision:
-Is it seriously going to weigh 280 pounds?
-Does it come with a thick arcade like bar with the leather grip?
-Is the bar going to be sturdy and not move when used when a TX pad?
-Any idea how much you'd charge to ship this beast to Ontario, Canada?
-Will the panels be recessed? Will you make the pad feel like the arcade? (Preferably an ITG 2 dedicated cabinet because the arrows aren't too repressed; they're just right.)
-Will the panels have LED lights in them like the arcades?
-Will the distance between the bar and the arrows be the same as the arcade?
-Is everything on the pad "arcade size"?
-How many sensors do you use per panel?
-Are the panels solid like the Blueshark or do they absorb the impact and sink in like on a Cobalt Flux?
-Can I get this to work with the PS2?
-Will they be sensitive everywhere on the panel? Like even on the edges of the panel, will the still be easy to register with little force (ITG hands)
And lastly, when will they be in stock?
Honestly, this pad sounds ridiculously awesome. I swear to god I will fucking worship you if you can make this pad and say yes to the questions that I asked above. Hopefully I'll have enough money saved up to get that pad when you finally get them made. Look forward to it,
-DarkCore |
