I really like FELM, at least the expert steps are fun, and the song is pretty cool musically. I have nothing to say about the oni steps, cuz i can't pass them, when i couldn't score well on chaos i didn't like it, but after i learned the stops, it became really fun, so the same might actually happen with the oni steps of felm i dunno. _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

And as such it's appropriate to discuss how moronic it is to decide a song sucks because of its name if you use FELM as an example. _________________

It's actually quite simple.
Faxx + telephone sounds + repetitive voices + resemblance to Disconnected + not enough actual remixing = approximately 2 minutes of suck and fail. _________________

How does having telephone sounds in a song make it like the Disconnecteds?
I still see no proof. _________________

It was an acquired taste, but I'm starting to like it.
But even then, I can only handle it in small doses. _________________

This is not conclusive proof. It's like saying Lemons + a small computer desk + a grey elephant + the number 7 = OMGLOLFAIL
You, in your opinion, think it's a bad song. It's more an articulated rhythm than a 'song', like Max300 or Pandemonium, for a start.
I assume you just don't like Fascination MAXX. Telephone sounds and repetative voices are part of 2MBs style, he uses themes for his remixes if you'd listen to his others, specifically La Senorita Virtual and Max. (period), and this one's theme is the telephone. This is the only similarity to ITG's Disconnected series, and that alone isn't proof that it's a direct reference. It could mean that if you are good enough to clear this song, you are 'connected', as in you are 'in the zone' etc. Or it could be there for no reason whatsoever other than the song's theme, like the tape recorder sound at the end of La Senorita Virtual.
You will notice that these are facts. Please provide some. _________________

Duh?
Nicx (I'm sure) was being sarcastic, and so was I. You can't "prove" that a song sucks, since it's just an opinion that will vary from person to person. I was just listing my opinions as if they were fact (which they obviously aren't). _________________

Another most notable song is HVAM, Usagi. That song has hospital written all over it.

Oh, please. I still like the song. Opinion is opinion.
If you know this, then why pretend you're proving something? Let's get back to more fact-based discussion about Felm... -_-
Anyway, I like the Heavy chart. The Oni chart I need to examine more. But I notice the jumps are freaking crazy...
Apoc wrote: | Call me crazy, but I like FELM. The way it sounds, at least, haven't actually had the opportunity to dance it yet. It's exactly what it says it is - a Fascination remix. I think it has almost an... epic feel, it builds in intensity and focus throughout the song. |
That's pretty much how I feel about Felm, musically.
Apoc wrote: | It's kind of a new direction for Konami. It almost can't be called techno/electronica anymore, it's so much different from the way DDR music was originally. |
FAXX and HDV have an epic feel to them, as well, so maybe you're right. "Epic Techno", has been done before, though. The legend of MAX would also be in this classification. _________________

Well, in all honesty, there are MANY songs in dancing games that aren't that musical
Surprise surprise, it's always the high end.....hmmm....
Seriously, songs like VerTex, VerTex2, and Pandemonium in the ITG series aren't all that musical. They exist more to set an ominous mood, which I think is fitting for there charts.
I can't complain too much about ELMO musically then (I call FELM "ELMO" because it's a ton funnier, and it still stands for Eternal Love Mix Oni) or else I'd be a hypocrite. Sure, it's not very musical at all, but neither is VerTex2.
I actually like VerTex2 too. It feels so damn epic and tense. While I don't believe ELMO portrays an epic build up quite as well, I still give it kudos for the mood it gives.
Seriously, Max 300 isn't all that musical guys. MaxX Unlimited and LoM are a little more musical, but still pale in comparison to something like Kakumei. What they do is set the mood of "This song is difficult" just from the feel.
I personally think Xepher is the coolest sounding new 10, but I can't complain too much about the other ones musically.....
....I just loathe their charts _________________

Hahaha, of course all of those aren't very "musical".
Though I do like it when some of the songs are made just to feel like there's going to be a tense undertaking. Made to fit the charts and create an appropriate atmosphere for the player. But even then, I probably also like them due to the fact that I'm already a sucker for electronic music, so being able to arrow stomp to them in an appropriate mood by the audio will, in most cases, just be a bonus for me. =P
...I still have my bad tastes, though. (*cough*Pandemonium*cough*PSM*cough*)

I guess that the reason I don't like Felm is that virtually all of the music I like to listen to is from the Classical, Romantic, or Impressionist periods. I like tonality, correctly-proportioned musical phrases, and form. Felm has very little of these. Most of the song does not have a strong, definite key. And as far as I can tell, the song has sort of an ABC form - there's no sign of anything resembling a recapitulation. It sounds like two minutes of aimless musical wandering to me. In the middle part with the piano, it's even harder than it is in Faxx to hear that it's in 3/4 (because of the way the drums are). This makes what is actually a solid group of four eight-bar phrases sound random and pointless. Also, I really dislike repetition without variation, and I don't think repetitive voices and ringing add anything to the song but noise.
The funny thing, though, is that I like the sound of the Vertexes.
