man i'm totally loving my BNS DX Sparkle to death. I love it so much, next week i'm ordering up a second one(except i might get the fusion so it looks all companion pad like) so i can do doubles! These pads are by far the best pads i've ever bought. I'm AAing Xepher Oni like a doggy....and when i tried on my friends perfect(and its literally the best of its kind ive ever used) ignition 2.0 i get B's due to the arrows being too raised! This pad is perfect in almost every aspect; price, sensitivity, feel, and sliding(it slides less than other foam pads i used, but obviousely it still slides a little bit....maybe 1-2 inches during xepher.

The Fusion DX does seem like an awesome pad. When I first got mine, I noticed the surface is very slick. But it plays just fine.

It is an extremely solidly-built pad, even more so than the Ignition pads. It's going to take a whole helluva lot more to displace the sensors within than the Ignition 3 (or even the Ignition 2) could ever hope to handle.

BNS Fusion DX (or Fusion Sparkle) + DDR SuperNOVA CS = FTW

Well, rats. I just received my DX fusion pad (not the pink one) and it is Dead On Arrival. Nice looking pad, but not a single button works on my PS2. I guess I'll see how good the follow up service is from Buy N Shop. What a pain in the neck.

try hooking it up to both the PS2 port and the USB port on the PS2 at the same time. After a while, it might start working fine again.

Thanks for the tip, JPFL. I had forgotten there even is a USB port on the PS2. I tried that (hooking up both plugs) and it works! Very nice solution. I haven't had a chance yet to try the pad in my XBOX or computer, but will do so this weekend.
I actually use a homemade hard pad myself, but my daughter likes the soft pad, so hopefully this will be a good replacement for her two broken Ignition pads.

The only other somewhat bad point is the mediocre support I've gotten from BNS. I emailed them several days ago and said the new pad had arrived "completely inactive. It does not work at all".

I got an email back saying "
Hi. What seems to be the problem? Sincerely Customer Service"

I replied with another email, making it more clear, in case they could not understand "completely inactive", but did not receive any more emails from them since. I guess customer support will not be the strong suit of BNS, although with the low price of the pad, that should be expected.

Anyhoo, for now we're set, and thanks again to you Forum people for the help

i guess you should have been a little more specefic...perhaps say like "when i hook my pad up to my PS2, it does not work. Can i send it back?"

or you could call them. And from what i hear BNS has great customer service.

they could have bad english...maybe inactive is too big of a word for them XD

yeah, for customer support, it's always good to play dumb and say "it's not working when i plug it in" rather than "there isn't any controller input to the system".

OK, to follow up. After my post here, they finally did email me back and provided return instructions. Since it does seem to work, however, when I plug in both USB and PS2 controller plug, I will just keep this one.
So I retract my complaints about their customer service.

I was wondering how sturdy the raised arrows are. My ignition was fine for the first 3 hours i was on it... then the arrow raiser inserts all started moving to the center, overlapping in some places. This is extremely annoying frown.gif. Could this happen with the DX Fusion pad? I play 8-9 footers and i weigh 260 if that matters. E15.gif biggrin.gif

ChiyoChan is under 100 but we went through four Ignitions (roughly one per week) that exhibited this problem to varying degrees. It's a manufacturing defect.

Her BNS is still holding-up very well and she's very happy with its respnsiveness. She typically will do almost an hour a day on these pads.

Wait, can someone tell me the difference between the DX Xtreme Fusion/Sparkle, DX Lite, and OEM Deluxe pads? I'm not quite getting it.

EDIT: Scratch that. What I'm really looking for is the difference between the DX Xtreme Fusion/Sparkles and the OEM Deluxe.

That OEM pad isn't really made by BuyNShop but it's more of a generic foam pad you could get on Ebay, as far as I know.

Basically if you want to be assured of quality, get the Fusion and not the OEM knockoff stuff.

I changed my mind. I'm making Stoli's Homebuilt Metal Dance pad instead. It should last longer!

I'm going to buy one of these later today, but if anyone knows of another good pad for around $100 (or less, obviously), I might check it out.

This site rocks :-)

Clint

Edit: Well, I just wanted to make sure, too, that this will work with both my XBOX as well as my computer running StepMania 3.9.

The Extreme Fusion is the only one that works with the Xbox and a PC. The other ones (besides the sparkle) don't.

# Compatible with PS2 and PlayStation
# Compatible with PC when used with a controller adapter
# Compatible with XBOX when used with a controller adapter

Okay, that is the one I planned on getting.
To quote it from the site:
BNS DX Xtreme Fusion Dance Pad w/ Xtreme Dense Inserts w/ 3 in 1 PS2/XBOX/PC connection

So, what exactly is a "controller adapter" as they put it?
Or is it not really needed because of the "3 in 1 PS2/XBOX/PC connection"?

Thanks for the help in advance,

Clint

Well, I went ahead and bought it :-)
Now all I have to do is wait for it to arrive.

Thanks,

Clint

I'm going to guess it is a fairly small box attached to the cable running from the control box. It has the three adaptors, one each for the PC (USB plug), Xbox, and Ps2 controller plugs.
