I also play as 2P in the arcades too. Even if I can't some of the blasted songs Danielle choses...!! But, 2P is my favourite side in the arcade! I always get the girls. Hehe...! Owell!

My problem with the 2P side is the fact I just plain can't READ it. I can read 1P side fine, but the 2P side throws me off a lot for some reason. My performance goes down, scorewise, by at least a fifth, sometimes even a third . So, I'd prefer trying to convince the arcade to fix the pads rather than try to play the 2P side .

In my experience, the 2nd player side is usally the one that's out of order. Not sure why that is; it just always seems to happen to me.

I've been thinking about this, and it seems like what the OP is describing should be the case (And based on pad wear, it usually is). However, in my experience (And of course, your mileage may vary), any "n00bs" tend to approach the game in tandem--in other words, they "attack" two at a time,meaning any wear from a given player stomping the pad should average itself out to be equal over both sides. Either my limited experience is just that--IE there are a lot more single-player "n00bs" out there that I don't see--or something is flawed with the popular way of thinking.

I've noticed that alot of beginners play on the 1P side because they think that's where you have to play if you are playing with only one player.

maybe because 2P side of the DDR, like the screen is more closer than
the 1P, where it's a bit more farther to play. I've tried both sides,
but it's more comfortable to play in 2P than 1P, because of that reason.
I dunno if it's just me or not, but I did play on both sides when playing doubles,
and I can control my balance in 2P easily, as 1P balance tends to break
easily....
and yeah, you can feel that the screen is more aligned with the 2P side
than the 1P side to play. That's how I feel it when I go to the arcades.

PBoy is right! now my arcade has a strict no one under 14 is allowed so that takes half the problem away....they also wend ahead and fixed up the pads so the problem is gone......but i got used to playing on the 2p side....dun know why....

I used to play on 2P because that was where the female characters were in the old Mixes.

Now I play on 2P because all the n00bs play on the 1P side and stomp the piss out of it.

I started shadowing people first, and the main guy I shadowed played on the left side, so I had to take the right. When I finally started playing on my own I was already used the that side, so I just kept playing on that side.
