... Did anyone else find themselves expecting the telephone rings to get faster and closer together until they finally went flatline?

I not only expected it, I thought I remembered hearing that. Good to know I wasn't the only one that was somehow reminded of HVAM.

It's not the telephone ring, but at the end, you can hear a chime getting faster until it flatlines...

And mad props to 2MB...this song owns any other Boss song in SuperNova, and possibly even any other max song...

I was talking about the patch, you know, kinda what this thread is about.

Quote:
Actually I think he did the RANDOM Nonstop course, because when this song comes up and they can hear what it is, you hear the guys say "oh no" or "uh oh"... So I think it was probably random...

Actually, when you install the patch, it resets your scores. I'm guessing in the process it will erase the data for most played songs? Could be a guess, but it wouldn't seem to far off. So technically anyone can have a top4 Nonstop with Both FAXX's, Healing-D, and Chaos =D

How is it random if nonstop random all is now 2 standards and 2 heavys...

Edit: It's not random, if you look while he's picking the course you can see that LoM is the 3rd song he has to play and Red Zone is the 4th.

Wow, that is DEFINITELY a Faxx remix. I really like that song, and the step chart looks harder than Faxx. I guess I'll know when I play it next week. Good job to the fellow who passed it.

I disagree, it doesn't look harder than Faxx. Those stops in the middle look kind of fun once you figure them out.

My arcade will be updated by this Wednesday, so when I go I'll try and get Faxx and Felm into one Nonstop course and play 'em side by side. Or just play Felm, I dunno.

If my phone started ringin' like that, I'll probably run away.

After watching the video a couple of times, I think I have those stops in the middle part down. Once I get out to the arcade, I'll get a video of this bad boy. This song has a really good stepchart.

1) So, has the actual syncing of songs actually been fixed or not? Seems kinda odd that no one has answered that question yet since that's the reason this patch was released and sent for free everywhere.

2) What's the new machine build number, or whatever you call that number on the top-left on the title screen? This will make it easier to identify machines with the patch or not.

I'm not sure if every song has been fixed, but yes, the syncing is now dead on.

Watching that video, I couldn't help but notice that the announcer said something, like, every five seconds. That got really annoying.

Doesn't the background in the banner for this new song and the one for Energizer look a bit the same too?

Just wondering.

Actually, I don't think that was the announcer. After listening again, I think that's part of the song. Kinda how in PARANOiA KCET ~clean mix~, you hear the voice in the song say "electric" every 2 secs. Just another voice sample that 2MB used -- sounds like he's saying either "Warning", "I warned you", or "How are you?"...

Oh, and as a sidenote, I agree with Uiru. I believe that 'Fascination' has become a new series for DDR alongside the 'PARANOiAs', 'TRIP MACHINES' and 'MAX' series. Though it would have made more sense if Fascination ~eterna love mix~ would have shown up before Fascination MAXX if that is actually the case here. But I'd vote this is the new "boss" series.

Ewwwwwwwww. goog.gif

From what I could hear, the music sounded awful. The telephone ringing is extremely annoying. The part with the piano barely sounded different than the original. And WTF @ that voice at the end.

I see that just like in Faxx, there are way too many speed changes. I also noticed that they couldn't help throwing in a few random stops. This is even more of a gimmicky 10 than Faxx; the steps themselves aren't even that difficult.

Edit: And if this really is going to be the new boss series...that just sucks. The Maxes were way better than this crap.

Heh, I feel exactly the opposite. I *like* gimmicks. I like Chaos, and the speed changes, and the Trick Oni course, and ITG mods and Marathon courses. (I *adore* Driven.) And I can't wait to master this song. And BTW, I think it sounds great.

I don't mind the occasional gimmicky chart, but when half (or more) of DDR 10s are like that, it's a different matter.

10's without gimmicks:

MAX 300
MAXX UNLIMITED
The legend of MAX
MAX 300 (Super-Max-Me Mix)
PARANOiA survivor
PARANOiA survivor MAX Expert
PARANOiA survivor MAX Challenge
PARANOiA ~Respect~
bag
SAKURA
OUTER LIMITS
MAD BLAST
G2
Giudecca Challenge (not officially rated yet)
250bpm (Jondi & Spesh Remix)
Healing-D-Vision Challenge
Xepher Challenge

Gimmicks:
MAX. (period) Expert
MAX. (period) Challenge
Fascination MAXX Expert
Fascination MAXX Challenge
Fascination ~eternal love mix~
CHAOS

That's 17 to 6. Not even CLOSE to half. There's even a few arguable placements that would move some into the "gimmicks" (or out of the gimmicks as well - I think everyone has gotten over the OMG 600BPM thing in MAX. (period) by now). Basically, "gimmick" refers to any niuance in a chart that steppers hate because it means they can't just sprint in place the entire time without thinking. As soon as you get used to it, the "gimmick" labels fade, not to be heard from again until the next new thing Konami tries to add some variety to the way step charts are presented. I recall a time when people cried GIMMICK when BPM changes were introduced AT ALL, and that new song MAX 300 came around which was "way too fast to be possible!"
