Here's a good one:

I was working on ITG (converted cabinet)today, trying to figure out how to alleviate the arrow lag/heat problems and I noticed something:the fan on the back of the cabinet was installed the wrong way, instead of blowing into the cabinet on the CPU,it was blowing out of the cabinet on the wall behind the game. laugh.gif

All the better to push the hot air out of the cabinet. ?

Our PIU is that way and I think our DDR is that way.
(The Pump puts out a stiff breeze with it's two fans; the DDR's fan is barely noticable)

You would think that..However,now that I have turned the fan around, you can feel the air circulating better when you open the coin door;you can now also feel a decent breeze circulating back out of the game from the return vent (which you couldn't before),so I figure it was supposed to be set up like that because it makes a mini convection current, but the tech who installed it made a mistake.

i know an arcade whose ddr extreme machine randomly freezes during songs, regardless of the mode and difficulty. is there any way to fix it?

Hmm....Does the machine freeze in demo mode? Does it happen even when barely played or only after it has been played fairly constant for a while?

Does turning the machine off for a minute then turning it back on get rid of the problem or does it happen again a little while after turning it back on?

Two big things pop to mind for casuing a freeze up:
Bad disc
Heat

Check your disc first.

Like Yeehaw suggested, check the disc first, try cleaning it, check for scratches and see if that fixes anything. If the disc is okay, then you've most likely got a bad CD-Rom. If that's the case, it's not to expensive to replace it if you know where to look.

Does your machine freeze on the same songs? Does it freeze on random songs at different points in those songs? When it freezes, what happens exactly? Does the entire machine lock up or does the song freeze, then speed up and actually finish out the song or fail the game?

Is there a way to change the machine from doubles to versus or double to single in between songs?

No. The only game that can do Doubles to singles is Pump. Doubles to versus used to be doable in older pump versions, but isn't worth the trouble; You're wasting your credit if you do it.

Thanks for reminding me. It's edited in here. I'm going to need to do a full update to this at some point to include ITG2 and Supernova information.

I dunno if this is the right thread to be putting this in. I am sorry if it is not.
I am still pretty much a newb to DDR. I got to my local mall with DDR Extreme.

Anyways... I was looking up the song list for Dance Dance Revolution Extreme, and I noticed there were alot of songs not on DDRExtreme's that are on the arcade's that I go to, but I noticed those songs on the lists of newer mixes. Are mixes like expansion packs where they just install the software in them and they have the new songs added on, or is this a bootleg?

There are over 240 songs on Extreme Arcade, provided the unlock codes have been inputed on your machine. The listing on ddrfreak for Extreme shows all the songs, broken down by what mix or other Bemani game they originally debuted.

You must hit leftsel.gif rightsel.gif at the same time to sort the song wheel during gameplay. This will give you access to all the songs. The default listing does not give you the entire list.

Hope that answers your questions.

Oh. I know about the double tap arrows. I used those to get Freckles and Waka Laka. The codes... I'm intrigued to know about those. Do theycost or what? Is there a link to a precedent thread about those?

... and don't take it too seriously the codes work but DDRFreak's songlist is flawed.

And how would that be?

I haven't compulsively checked everything, but at a glance i can tell you that the difficulties for End of The Century Heavy and Matsuri Japan from Nonstop Megamix are wrong. If i noticed that first visit then it's probable that there are more oversights that i didn't see.
