Discuss everything you'd like about Elite Beat Agents and its Japanese predecessor Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! here.

EDIT (3/27) Ouendan 2 screenshots have been released. See page 6 for details.

Edit (6/25) Bumped for a rumor mill and breaking information.

I never played the original version, but I'm very interested in getting Elite Beat Agents and adding to my (very small) DS library. This game obviously uses the touch screen to it's full potential and I like when games do that. I've watched a demo video and I love that they have "Walkie Talkie Man" because it's a great song, but the cover is pretty darn bad. Hopefully the rest of the music is a little better. I will definately be getting this when it hits stores - thanks for the preview! E1.gif

With a game like this how is that a real problem?

I wonder if the main character will change w/ each difficulty & if it'll be girls for the hardest.......Ohhh Yeeaahhhh..... E4.gif

Also, I wonder what the final mission & song is. I hope it's as good as Ready Steady Go & the giant meteor fallin' down. It can't get better than a male cheersquad dancin' & cheerin' to help save the world from a meteor.

How would you know this, seeing as there are only two songs available in the demo?

The Demo I speak of is the one that's been present at Comic-con, PAX, and E3. I doubt you can find it.

You do know that all but one of the songs (Melody) on Ouendan were covers, right?

Quoted for truth (and to back the person up).

Well, it might sound silly, but part of the fun of Ouendan for me was seeing the characters helping out the people that needed cheering on. And as I said, the role of the characters on EBA is... somewhat vague at this point.

MAGIC. Seriously, though, I think it would be better if I didn't say, seeing as it could get me in trouble... You are free to completely disbelieve whatever I say, though - I wouldn't hold it against you.

You're right. I fixed the original post.

Well, I just got word down the grapevine that Gamestop/EB is going to have this game at the DS download station.

Apparently, the two stages available on the E3 demo (as well as the training session) will be available, but you only get to play about 2/3 of the song. I'll try to keep you guys posted!

On bemanistyle.com. There's a list of songs for this game. In my opinion, these songs I just personally don't like to listen to anyway. Unless the patterns are pretty good, I'll consider it.

list of songs (as posted from bemanistyle.com)

1. Walkie Talkie Man - Steriogram
2. ABC - Jackson Five
3. Sk8er Boi - Avril Lavigne
4. I Was Born to Love You - Queen
5. Rock This Town - Stray Cats
6. Highway Star - Deep Purple
7. Y.M.C.A. - Village People
8. September - Earth, Wind and Fire
9. Canned Heat - Jamiroquai
10. Material Girl - Madonna
11. La La - Ashlee Simpson
12. You're the Inspiration - Chicago
13. Survivor - Destiny's Child
14. Without a Fight - Hoobastank
15. Believe - Cher
16. Let's Dance - David Bowie
17. Jumpin Jack Flash - Rolling Stones
18. Makes No Difference - Sum 41
19. The Anthem - Good Charlotte

That's also apparently not the full tracklisting either (as in, The Anthem isn't the final level.)

Also, before this thread is raped with "OMGZ IT'S ALL POPULAR AMERICAN MUSIC, WHY?!?!", I have one thing to say:

All the songs on Ouendan are popular Japanese tracks. This is the same thing except with American music. Learn to deal with it and stop complaining that your games aren't Japanese enough.

And if it really bothers you that much, import Ouendan. If people expect this to sell, it has to follow the same formula Ouendan did with the music, it has to be something a mainstream gamer will pick up and go "Wow! That's awesome!"

I agree with that.

Any list of well-known American music is bound to have at least a couple of duds (read: songs that are decent, but have been played so much that none of us want to hear them again). But really, the only other option is attempting to license really obscure crap that no one would be interested in listening to and could very likely be just as bad as (or worse than) any popular, famous song.

Even Ready Steady Go? Because I've listened to a lot of L'Arc~En~Ciel, and that really sounds like Hyde... they must have one dang talented cover team in Japan.
(Why don't we?)

bleh at this. it pisses me off that almost every US music game almost has same old same old....

think about it.
Walkie Talkie Man(PIU Exceed... not a cover)
ABC(DDR ultramix 3, and not a cover)
Queen(sure, its a band, but NO ONE can cover queen and they have been in so many music games its crazy)
Rock This Town(Donkey Konga, but you cant get worse than donkey konga covers)
YMCA-(DDR Extreme US....also not a cover)
Canned Heat(eye toy groove)
Let's Dance(DDR SuperNOVA PS2)
Good Charlotte(they were in donkey konga 2 and taiko drum master...but both as, wait, you cant get worse than good charlotte)

Yeah, it's just same old songs i've heard on the radio too many times and forgot about(and would like it to continue that way). Yes, i do understand the fact mainstream america doesn't wanna rythmically tap there styluses along to l'arc~en~ciel and morning monsume, but they could have AT LEAST TRIED SOMETHING NEW! maybe thrown in some nintendo songs(after all, this is made by nintendo!), put some dragonforce as the hardest song, perhaps get a few unknown bands. In fact, now that i see the ilk that is japanese music games being brought to america, i appretiate guitar hero for breaking out of the formula a bit as far as songlist go.

anyhow, i plan on importing the japanese version after i get a stab at the actual gameplay on the US one. If i like it, i import! if i dont, i forget this ever happened.

Hey! Go to http://media.ds.ign.com/media/826/826978/vids_1.html for new vids on EBA. I'm so getting this game to not only complement Ouendan, but because I'm loving the songs I've heard and the gameplay I've seen! Looks like our version isn't going to be much of a pushover like I expected it to be!

Just to let ya know, there's a song from EBA that's in Napolean Dynomite (the song that he dances to near the end of the movie). Can't remember, though. It was in NP. It might be "Canned Heat".

Also, my wish was sort-of granted, as the highest diff. will feature "Divas"....BTW, anyone know what the hardest song will be & what the senario is?
