Ok, if there was a shadower next to me, and he was picking on me, I'd ignore him. Then ask him/her to stop very nicely. And if they didn't listen, I'd stop playing DDR, and go and sort him/her out. I hate shadowers like that! They get me annoyed. So, I know what to do... Give him a lesson, a painful lesson...!

Well, would it make more sense to make an entirely new thread on the same subject?

We razz people for bumping and we razz people for not searching for threads. Make up your mind peoples.

Personally, if someone is shadowing I tell them to get off, if this doesn't work, I throw them off the pad. Yes, I have done this.

...true, but DDR Yuni has bumped many threads lately, and is postwhoring, A LOT. most of the topics that were bumped wern't even for a significant reason, one bump isn't THAT bad, but multiple bumps is just annoying.

as for the arcade, they couldn't shadow me on the pad anyway because i always go with a friend.

At least it's only 2 months old, not 2 years old.

At my arcade, the staff encourages you to hit someone shadowing you if they refuse to stop when you ask them to. Now I wish someone would shadow me so I could hit them...

I wouldn't punch a guy in the face just for shadowing me. I'd ask him to stop after the song.

one time, some kid was pissing me off by jumping on the pad every few seconds and distracting me. so my friend ZZZ shows up, and the kid does it again. ZZZ goes and frigging kicks the kid right in the shin, and is like GET OFF THE F*CKING PAD! i was just like, louis, thank you.

i'm glad i have good friends. ^^

everyone knows each other for the most part up here, so they usually ask me, but i tell em' no. Ive never really had a problem with it. Ive had a few few run in with a coupla brothas laugh.gif at my mall. I dont know if you wanna call what they do "shadowing" more like making themselves look like bigger idiots than i make myself. Never escalated past that though.

I never had a problem with shadowers at arcades, because I don't play arcade DDR that often.

But what's really annoying is when I play StepMania with my fingers at home and my sister is behind or right next to me, trying to do the steps on bare carpet.

If it was a shadower who wasn't trying to annoy me on purpose I'd let 'em shadow, cause I normally don't care.

If it's someone I don't know and they're trying to tick me off, about all I'll normally do is shoot a death glare and/or get off the machine... cause... I'm doomed if I get myself in a fight.

i usually dance on.and if the shadower really bugs me i will just tell him after the game to get off the pads like the others would do.i do not want to get kicked out of the arcade.even if it is a temptation for a fight.

One time my friend was playing ITG when a shadower got on the empty pad to do an imitation of an Irish dance. Apparently that was cool to he and his friends, even after I commanded him to get off of the pad. However, when my friend, an arcade worker, walked by, I pointed to the shadower and shouted, "we have a trouble maker!" I continued, "he made fun of Jack by getting on the pad while he was playing." The shadower's face turned red and he was speechless for a few seconds, but he managed to spit out something like "but... I... it didn't matter."

He may have been "cool" for a few seconds, but after that? laugh.gif

When I tried ITG for the first time in North Carolina, there were some other guys playing. I got up on the machine to select my song and one of the guys asked very nicely if he could shadow, so I said yes.

There was this other time at Woodside Athletic Club where I was playing something on DDR that I found rather difficult and I had a crowd of about 15 kids watching me. One of them thought he was cool and got on the 2P pad to shadow. The pad was loose so it shook and made a lot of noise, plus he was stomping and it was really throwing me off. Just when I was about to yell at him he got off though.

If someone asks me first, chances are I won't mind.

Have you all never thought that some shadowers are just there to learn? However, I have fallen victim to a shadow-bumhole before... I asked him if he wanted to do doubles, and then proceeded to woop him.

In my area most shadowers make fun of people who play dance games.

Regardless, shadowing without permission is rude.

Only people that shadow me are friends because we're all in a group and its pretty cool. if I don't want them to shadow, while I'm playing I just give a lighto shove on their shoulder and they just back off. A simple thing.

But if it's a really tiny kid I have to either hope for a parent to arrive or hold them back with one hand while playing o_O

So many little kids!! >_<

There really isn't a problem there with shadoing though, It's also a way of saing hi tongue.gif When someone plays and you want to pronounce your presence you just go shadow a bit. I'm not easily distracted or thrown off. (I don't see why it took me so long to get really good at it.) I can play through almost anything really.

There was this one annoying kid who would pretend to make love with the side of the machine to distract you while you were playing. he left though. (Thank you!)[/img]
