I go home and practice, but at the arcade is where you can draw crowds. I like the experience in the arcade that you have to keep going, or you will waste your money. I like the arcade better, but home is for me, because I don't have much money. XD

I like the arcade better; I love when people come to watch me play! But at home I do better because I don't have to worry too much about failing and wasting my money. The arcade is definetly better though. Way more songs than Konamix.

Yeah, I love the arcades as much as anyone. I think the main reason is because I'm kind of handicapped when it comes to home versions. I only recently learned that Cobolt Flux didn't make an Xbox pad...devastating. So I get to use my poopy little soft pad to play all 4 decent songs on Ultramix 3. Woohoo. I might as well not even have a home version.

So yeah the arcades are the only place I get to practice. I find that playing with other people, you learn more, you get better, and you do songs you wouldn't normally do. Sexy Planet was my first Oni I ever cleared. The only reason I did it was because the person I was playing with convinced me to.

It's just more fun. (imo)

Arcades are better because of tournaments.

I love the arcade and I'm not a fan of home. I have a metal pad (but it broke) so it's either soft pads or nothing. That's why I opt to play at arcades. Plus, you draw a crowd and can verse some fellow DDR players. It's a more social experience I think and makes it more fun to play.

I find it alot easier to play at home on my modified softpad than at the arcade because the panels aren't lowered like they are at the arcade. I hate non-modded softpads though because they slip and slide all over the place. It's fun playing at arcades though because you can challenge other DDR players, and show off. biggrin.gif

I have prefered the arcade experience much better, sans the idiots who screw you up, but that's a different story. I have a home version, Mario Mix for the Gamecube, because my little brother won't share his Xbox or PS2 with me.

Mario Mix is good for practice, but it's too easy, and you can't have mods. I'm on very hard which is barely harder than Light in the arcade original.

I want to buy my own DDR arcade machine for myself so badly.

i prefer the arcade scene when it comes to the DDR pads.at least i get a crowd and a group of friends.at home i just don't quite feel the dance.the foam or metal pads at home is just not right for me.i like to practice at home and show off in public.

Arcade: More fun, draws crowds, but have to spend money.
Home: For me, anyway...better scores but less songs and not as fun.
I can't go to the arcade very often, and the few times that I do, I don't have all that much money to play a lot. So I play at home more.

In terms of songlist, and overall feel, I'd say arcade unless you have an extremely durable (home-made or modded) metal pad, and/or you (1) have a stepmania setup with theme, music, and window settings (even then the themes and announcers are far from perfect yet), or (2) have a PC setup with MAME (that will not be around ofr a while, though DDR 1.5 throught 2nd Club is imprefectly emulated, or on it's way) or (3) have the close-to-arcade Japanese mixes of DDR, like MAX, MAX2, and EXTREME for example.

I prefer Arcade, Mainly because the feel of the dance platform. I've played on pretty much every home-hard pad made, with the exception of homepad.. and non of them really appealed to me.

Nothing you can do at home can match the feel of an arcade pad.

You can come close-but-no-cigar with certain pads, and that is where your statement is true, but if you make a metal pad from scratch, odds are you CAN mimic the feel of an arcade pad.
