Playing at home is fun and all fun but playing at an arcade is better just because you'll get to play with other ppl other than yoiur friends and yourself

Home is best for practicing songs, and arcade is best for showing them off! ;D

Arcade is great. Even if you have all the games at home for one system, you still get better selection on an arcade machine, it's more convenient, etc. and the pads rule. Besides which half the fun is showing off in front of your friends who usually won't go to your house just because you feel like demonstrating your ability on song _.

The only thing that sucks about the arcade is when the machines are too close and the songs get hard to make out clearly - gotta concentrate way too hard just to hear.

Arcade DDR is SO much better than DDR at home. It's just insane. First, home pads slide around like crazy and don't respond at all; second, the time frame is much easier in the home version; third, the song selection in the home versions suck SOOOO bad compared to the arcade; fourth, the atmosphere in the arcade is much better than just sitting at home; and fifth, on the home pads (especially soft ones) you can just slide instead of having to step, and that makes the game WAAAAY too easy. Luckily, the arcade can prevent that with recessed pads that dually function to keep you from stepping off the pad because you can't feel where the arrows are!
The only thing that makes the home version slightly worth buying is that you don't have to pay (after you buy your $300 pads and such).

Unless there's something wrong with the DDR in the arcade near you, there isn't any reason to disapprove of it just because it's harder. Just learn to play the game right and you shouldn't have any reason to complain.

I like home better.
I'm 23 and my arcade is dead and it's just more conveinent to play at home.

Not to mention I wouldn't be able to play 2-4 hrs straight at the arcade.

My cobalt flux is in better shape then the ddr pad in the arcade here anyway.

I would say if you can't get access to Japanese home versions then DDR at home sux.

CF + DDRmax1(jap) + max 2(jap) + extreme(jap) = home > arcade

CF's are great. Got one. But nothing beats the rush of having a crowd cheer your name at the arcade.

There are no crowds at my arcade.

I play to exercise and I like the challenge, not to impress people.

So I guess it depends on your demeanor(correct spelling?)

I got a sweet crowd of like 20-30 people yesterday at the bowling alley. It was awsome.

You lasted a whole post in between contradicting yourself. Better than some people who contradict themselves within a post, I suppose.

Arcade, all the way - crowds, good pads (most of the time), and the opportunity to make a fool out of yourself and feeling good about it, knowing you can do better.

Arcade, cause of the people playing and watching. Its so cool to have more than 100 people watch you play a set (this happened at a lock in I went to).
