|
|
I am planning to buy an Ignition 3.0 system from eBay sometime in the future. I simply cannot afford the price of retail, but my DigitalLabs xbox soft DDR pad is simply a joke and I can't even pull off some light songs without it moving a foot and crumpling up all over the place!
So have any of you had any experience with used soft pads from e-bay? Any advice? I'm planning to buy Ignition 3.0 so I can use it with stepmania, but do you guys suggest another pad?
Thanks! _________________

NO.
The ignition 3 sucks enough when you buy it right from RO, but a used one? From eBay? Used is bad enough, eBay just makes it worse. How about this, don't buy an Ignition 3 from anywhere. Instead, save your money and get a CF like I am. You'll be glad you did. |

Fourth'ed, don't get an Ignition 3 And don't buy anything off ebay unless its under $20. Save up for a CF, theres a reason EVERYONE says this. I don't care if you think you don't want to spend $350 on DDR, I don't care if you think you can't afford it. Save the **** up. _________________

Are you sure your thinking of the Cobalt Flux? http://cobaltflux.com/ As in THIS Cobalt Flux? This is the only kind. The pads your looking at on eBay must be those shitty TX-1000's or something, because no one, no matter how dumb, would sell a CF for $13 (or so). Don't buy pads on eBay. No matter what, it's never a wise decision. Also, what do you mean you could never get a CF? If you could save up for an Ignition 3.0, then you could save up for a CF. It's going to take me at least half a year to save up for mine, but I know it'll be worth it. Just do what I'm doing. Once you've had it for about a day and you've adjusted to it, you'll be glad you saved up. |

Oh, I mean the ignition's were $13, my mistake.
But err $350, my parents have total control over my expenditures (even if it's my money), they probably wouldn't let me get a $350 DDR pad. Even I think my DDR habit will not be worth $350!
But with you guys' advice, I might as well stick with my poopy ones if the ignitions are really that bad, maybe i'll just buy an xbox-usb converter _________________

Explain to your parents that as long as it's your money, and you'll spend it the way you want. And if they use the old "As long as you live in this house it's our money", move into the back yard. As long as you can have a cobalt flux, all will be well. |

My parents didn't want to let me blow $350 on a CF but I convinced them its good exercise and now they pitched in $200 for my $2400 Solo Machine _________________

Alright, so they won't let you get a CF, but they're letting you get a Solo machine? Oh well, it'll be worth it. Might I reccomend a solo 4th plus if you can get your hands on it? |

c'mon guys, theres a reason that people can't get the CF
i mean, i have one, but from time to time i wanted to settle for a TX-1000 or TX-1501 because of the price (you can get two TX-1501 for the price of 1 CF basically)
If you're not that serious of a gamer, get a foam pad, i lived with one for 2 years before i got the CF, and i still use the foam pad (don't like lugging 20+ pounds of stuff back and forth) from time to time.
Tho i'm not sure if you're better off getting an ignition, or a no-brand foam pad
I have a no-brand foam pad, and its pretty nice, but you'll probably want to go with hard foam
That being said, my foam pad was $30 about two years ago, and still going strong (tho i did have to duct tape the control thing once, but it still work =P) |

I have a no-name soft pad that I want to replace... all my friend's soft pads are literally 100x better than my softpad, even if they are just the ones they got for PS2 that were coupled with the game. (The Konami ones)
I really can't get a CF, so I'm looking for a (preferably cheap) pad with xbox and USB support, and the ignition 3 (on ebay) is the ticket _________________

The CF is the most durable DDR pad for home versions...and a year later when I actually have one this is not always the case. =P
The metal pads usually break, and don't last long. That would cause you to spend even more money buying other pads. Soft pads usually slip all over the place when you play Doubles mode, Heavy, or expert.
Would it be possible for your parents to pay a portion of the money for the CF, and you could pay the rest?
lol @ editing a year late or so.

I know this is an old thread, but I found it by searching and wanted to point out that this is not true. Please refer to my recent post about connecting Red Octane pads together. It works for most foam pads as well.
I'm considering putting my barely-used CF up for sale. For its purchase price, I could have bought a few years' worth of Ignitions. The only thing holding me back really is the possibility that I might find a use for it, and the difficulty of feasibly selling it. _________________
