Beatmania US sucks. It was good for starting out, but I can't transision to 6 star songs. I can do Colors on normal, but all the other 6* songs are hyper mode, and hyper mode 6*'s are too hard. I mean, I'm used to having something too hard to pass right away, but not so hard that a little whoring couldn't fix it. But these 6*'s are too hard though, and none of the whoring I've done helped. Is there ever going to be a beatmania US game that doesn't SUCK? One with better speedmods? Because the ones in US are horrible. If I don't use them, I can't always read what I need to. If I do use them (and I've only used speed 1), it's too fast, and the parts I can't read are too fast to be read.

have you tried playing the song on training mode at a lower speed, then slowly increasing? that helped for me. you can read the notes easier and get the hang of them before going full speed.

as for beatmania us sucking, i'd say only because of the lack of songs. and for some strange reason, i care about the 5-key mode not having more difficulty settings.

In all of the IIDX games there is a point where you can't pass anymore songs and you think you'll never get better and the game sucks. I think it's the same for Beatmania US. And speed mods are the same in other version too (except they might have FASTER speed mods) so you might want to get used to using them.

I would like another US game but I doubt it will happen. They would just need to fix syncing and add more flavor to the choice of songs. Maybe add a super duper beginner mode and add more another charts. Other than that I believe difficulty in the games is fine.

I don't think beatmania itself sucks, just US. This is the only time whoring hasn't helped with something. I can pass lots of 5*'s just as easily as making small turds. But when it comes to 6*'s, it's like I get really really constipated and no amount of laxatives will help.

It took me awhile to finally get to 6* songs aswell... and to me, I don't think having Beatmania US alone will get you there quickly. I finally moved up levels when I played other styles. My suggestion is import different styles to get better. :\

First: Don't blame it on the game, it's not it's fault that you've gotten to a stand-still in progression of your skill.

I got to that point in my playing, and I just kept going at it. It all depends on how you play. If you're playing one handed, start to learn how to try playing two-handed. Also, Hi-Speed 1 is really only the equivalent of 2x speed. Hi-Speed 2 is 2.5x, and increasing in .5x variables.

Another way to make songs easier (sometimes) is to use Random, or mirror. They change up the notecharts making it easier (or harder) for you to play them. But in the end, they give you more experience with different notecharts.

Just be careful: fly through the night should really be rated a 7 star. :x

If I was to import other styles, I'd have nothing to play them on. I don't have a JP PS2.

djTORA fw/ Yossie, I play two handed for hard songs and one handed for easier ones. But jeez, 6*'s are so hard I think I might have to change to 2 hands and 1 foot.

i think fly through the night is correctly rated at 6 stars
its not that hard if you cant hit the drum roll at the end you need to practice that, but the majority of the song is really a 6 star

i remember when i was stuck at the 6star barrier
the first 7 star song i ever passed was Route 80s and that song is piss easy if you can keep the beat on the left key

id work on timing those songs you can almost pass so the penalty of missing notes is less in the long run

Well if you seriously would concider importing, a flip top is a cheap alternative to getting a JP PS2. I got a flip top and swap magic for only $40. You probably could find about that price or cheaper on the internet (probably ebay).

Alright, where could I get these? I only want to use eBay as a last resort, just so you know. And when I have these, how would I use them? I'm guessing I would put the swap magic in the flip top and turn it on, then take out the swap magic and put in the game, right?

If you have an old ps2, you'd want to get this one:

http://www.ps2cover.com/ps2-cover-blue-v9v10-combo.shtml

If you have a slim ps2, you'd want to get this one:

Yes, basically, you put the swapmagic disc in, it starts up, use the flip top to switch the game, and then load it.

If you concider it, I can give you sites that show you how to replace the regular ps2 cover with the flip top cover. It's pretty easy to do and you shouldn't have much trouble.

I don't think Beatmania US sucks because its too hard I think it sucks for having a shitty song list. There are not enough interesting difficult songs.

Here's a site for the old PS2's:
http://www.ultimateconsoleguides.com/Installation.htm

Here's a site for the slim PS2's:

And yes, American games will play exactly like they do now.

Sweet! Just have 3 more simple questions. This fliptop and disc will allow me to play my burnt version of ddr disney mix for ps1 and JP games, right? And is 35$ the cheapest you can get it? And will my US ps2 homemade pad work with JP games? Thanx sooo much. You're a big help

I'm not too sure on the PS1 games. I know I ended up playing my PS1 4th mix, but I think it requires some downloading of files and such. I'll look into it again and let you know.

I believe $35 is around one of the better prices for it. I bought mine from a vendor for $40. You can look around a bit more, or try Ebay, but I'm pretty sure that's about the price you'll find anywhere else.

And yes, and controller you have should work perfectly fine with any JP game. They games don't have different controller mapping or anything, so I'm sure it'll work just fine.

Yeah, I obviously can't do this. Is there anywhere I can get one that's already modded?

its actually quite easy. When i was 13 my friend was having trouble(he modded his so he could play burned games) putting it on but i got it on in a jiffy. It's really not hard at all.

I felt the exact same way and I hated it, Beatmania US does suck. So then I bought this http://www.thegiantstore.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=394 and then had my friend loan me his IIDX Red and 10th Style and I've gone from level 5 songs to 6s and 7s because they have so many more "transition" songs. Basically either wait for a new version or get the JP IIDXs.

Yeah it took me awhile to get out of 6s for Hyper, and I still have one left (Love is Dreaminess).

WHY they were rerated for this game is retarded.
