Apparently they sync stuff according to frames or something. I would've thought that with a real framerate+resolution stuff would be placed correctly, but I guess I was wrong. SM's method is by N/192 (256 would not approximate as cleanly, IIRC). _________________

They haven't fixed that? My PA seemed fine on iFuturilist. Maybe I was so off I was on, but I doubt it. Triplets seem better than Extreme, but maybe the entire song was off and then compensated for the triplets.
Ugggh, this syncing issue is actually confusing sometimes. _________________

They seemed offsync as far as I could tell, maybe that's due to the sync drift, though it seemed pretty consistently off. _________________

I doubt it was built from the ground up, as SN has a PS2 inside, and Konami has been making PS2 DDR for years. _________________

And thats where youre wrong.
Keep in mind what Konami is up against, Roxor had the exact same problem. Konami is trying to make a game that works the same in a Dedicated cab and a Classic cab. Roxor skipped over this problem by making 2 different versions of the game. Konami is trying to make one game that with a setting change will run on both cabinets.
Konami also had to rewrite the entire software engine. the two rendering modes for 2 cabinets, the pads are now run through USB, not the controller boards (Like the 573 Digital) that the older cabinets used. USB has lag. USB is also harder to code for, but its what the Bemani PS2 works with. They also had to write a whole new saving technique, since it saves seamlessly and a hell of alot faster than a PS2 does. The loading sequences had to be entirely rewritten to redirect to the hard disk, Supernova doesnt run on DVD (No Bemani PS2 game does, except PopnMusic IIRC) Supernova has an entirely new system for rendering the video on screen, and older songs have an entirely new Dancing Characters system.
You cant forget about the pads, the new pads probably have new controller boards with no lag. The old controller boards (which they are going to have to deal with) have a lag on them. Want proof? Hook up stepmania in any DDR cabinet and look at the global gap you gotta set to get the timing right.
Konami has a number of obsticales to cover, and you know what, you never get it right the first time. Look at any Stepmania theme ive made. You are going to screw up somewhere. Give Konami a break. _________________

I completely agree. That's what I was saying in my other post.
I'm confused about one thing though: You first said that the new cabs run through USB, which has lag. Then, you said the new pads have new controller boards with no lag. Do the new pads have lag because of USB or do they have no lag?
Also, I'm just wondering, does the US Supernova DX Cabinet have Konami or Betson pads? I thought the first beta cab. in Illinois had the Betson pads which were complete crap. Did they switch to Konami's pads? _________________

Woah there, calm down...I wasn't being hard on Konami. Someone suggested that SN might have been built from the ground up, which would explain why it had some bugs. I said that that was unlikely, since Konami already had a perfectly-working PS2 DDR engine. Why you then felt the need to write me an essay is beyond me. _________________

I also agree. I'm tired of people bashing DDR. It seems like it is so hard to please people these days. I was actually happy that Konami at least made another arcade version.
For people that say Konami doesnt listen...Um...well they are working on fixing the sync problems are they? Also Konami must have listened to me and my friends because we sent constant requests to get the characters to return for their next arcade release. I also think the over 300 song list is a sign of Konami trying to make everyone happy.
For people that constantly say ITG is better...well why dont you go talk about that in a ...oh I dont know...ITG FORUM! Because your rude comments are pissing me off and I'm sure are pissing off other DDR fans in the DDR Forums. Sorry if I seem mean now but I've been holding back my comments for awhile and I honestly think...sure ITG may have harder difficulty but graphic, gameplay, and song wise..I think it really super sucks...and why I'm saying this..well..because I'm on a DDR Forum and not a ITG forum.
I'm sure the troll people are probably eager to press the quote button while reading this ready to just bash me and blah blah blah well I'm not going to listen because it is about time I released some of this aggression. |

Internet: Serious Business.
Seriously. Stop worrying about what other people are saying about your favorite game on a website and get out and enjoy it yourself. If you don't like it, skip over their comment and go to one that provides you with useful information. _________________

I guess you are right. Sorry I got angry..its just I'm afraid if people complain too much over stupid stuff it could hurt future DDR games. |

Depending on whether or not Konami shapes up this isn't necessarily a bad thing. _________________

It was... At least IIRC.
DDR Max 2 CS USA introduced 24ths for edits. DDR Max 2 AC introduced 24ths in the first place.

You obviously don't pay attention to all of in the groove's faults. And they're not all syncing issues. The legitimacy of any ITG score with screen or not is questionable. I think that's a serious issue. |
I know! If DDR:SN had a major scoring issue like that, we'd never hear the end of it.
I could only imagine what this thread would look like if that happened:
"OMG DDR SUX"
"Just proof of how ITG > DDR!!!11"
"Supernova is complete crap.."
--
But enough about ITG.
Now is the time to tell Konami about the other problems SN has right now.. I'll start:
-Song wheel sort has a glitch. If it is in ABC order, it will revert back to default after the song is played. (Not sure about other sorts.)
-Right button needs to be pressed an annoying amount of times to access Nonstop, Challenge, and All Music. Only one press should be enough... not 5.

You DO realize that SuperNova has the exact same score glitch as ITG2, just everyone decided that it must be a feature for some irrational reason? _________________
