so i bought a pair of TX-1000 metal pads last year, and after two months of not-so-frequent use, they're garbage.
http://www.hartsunlimited.com/2nnarmeddrpa.html
so i'm thinking of buying the Night Arcade Metal DDR pads to use with StepMania, but after some research i haven't come into much feedback regarding that particular brand. i've also heard that trickbars on home gaming pads aren't so great. is this worth buying or not? _________________

Let me tell you something. Those are EXACTLY the same as the tx6000s but black and have plastic arrows.... so there more like black tx250s (hybrids, ninjas, whatever you want to call them). But more importantly, I'd say this deal:
http://cgi.ebay.com/TWO-DDR-DANCE-REVOLUTION-6KB-METAL-PAD-PADS-XBOX-PC-PS2_W0QQitemZ250009954928QQihZ015QQcategoryZ21185QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Is a bit cheaper for the exact same thing.
So basicly, the ebay price is worth buying, but be prepared for crappy bars. And you might have to fix it everynow and then. And you should probably get an extra control box. But overall tx6000s are pretty good for the price _________________

It's a TX. It's not worth it. Don't get it. Unless you want to mod it, that is. |

I really don't think the TX's are that bad - and you could just get a control box that supports USB, or an Xbox controller end that you can switch with a USB end... |

I tried using the USB control box and it sucks. It lagged and had a small buffer that caused it to reset it self every 20 steps or so. A better option is to wire a USB joystick or controler to your pad. It works much better now. |

Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've had my TX-6000 for ages now and I've had no problems. The bar doesn't stay completely still, but it certainly hasn't broken or shown any signs of strain. The sensors are very sensitive and if someone claims that they aren't, then they've only just bought the pad. A few days of playing and it's as good as arcade sensors. I'm moving up to ITG 11s and 12s now - it can still handle it.
NOTE: I've had it for about 7 months. I play almost every day and bar rape like hell. _________________
