If ITG counts, then mines hands down for me because they're distracting and a pathetic way to lose your life meter's health.

AMEN! I hate mines. But the fact that they cause your life meter to go down doesn't bother me as much as the fact that they lower your score. Depending on the song, hitting just a few mines can cost you at least 1%, which is really a huge amount if you usually score in the high 90s. Mines are NOT fun, and IMO, they are by far the worst aspect of ITG. When they're used sparingly (and I mean REALLY sparingly, like in Turn It On Expert), they don't bother me as much, but some step artists think it's fun to crap them in large piles all over an otherwise good chart.

I like mines. They make it more of a challenge. Or maybe I'm just like that because I normally don't play for score (for I've never hit 90%, so score doesn't mean much to me)

I wouldn't mind mines so much if ITG realizes that mines and holds (or rolls) go together better than mines and streams.

Then again, I play mines by wildly getting of the arrows like they're hot coals; perhaps somebody who plays them correctly would enjoy them a little bit more. Even so, some of the mine placements don't seem to be in the stepchart for any sane reason, like on the other two arrows while I'm doing a jump.

Jump, then 8th note, and a jump again. I really hate those on fast songs like orion.78 civilization mix

Hard galloping patterns from Rythm and Police and True... Trance Sunrise Mix

Don't forget Saint Goes Marching...I tried that once and totally failed when it got to the part with the gallops.

I never really played that song before, but on songs like My Generation and Matsuri Japan the gallops don't annoy me. In fact they're so fun! biggrin.gif

Oh yeah I forgot to mention the 32nd steps on Tsugaru are evil. They look like jumps but they're not and theyt combined themselves with the galloping. Great... disgust.gif

The ones in HotN are way grodier, 'cause they're fast and have mines thrown in.

Speaking of HotN, I hate triplets in runs.

Yeah, I never noticed those until I sped up the arrows. Way to listen to the music, self. *smacks forehead*

To AA Bob (I think it was you): Eh, I only play ITG at home 'cause there aren't any decent machines near me, so getting my score disqualified doesn't bother me.

You know those patterns in So Deep heavy? I HATE those when they aren't on the same two arrows, like a LDDL pattern is. If it's, like, LDDR, it screws me up so badly. Argh.

I hate when you have these crossovers in 8th notes:
left.gif up.gif right.gif
right.gif up.gif left.gif

I ALWAYS double step on these ones. I've tried to break out of it and hit them by turning, but I've rarely been successful as I seem to lose my orientation when I do this and miss the third arrow. Or even after practicing for a while, I just revert to my old double-stepping habit. I'm fine with LDR or RDL crossovers. I can turn and hit those fine. But it's a whole other story when you throw the up arrow into the mix for me. >_<

Why on rdl or ldr's should one cross the center? I find it easier to do otherwise.

Sugested:
left.gif (left ft) down.gif (right ft) right.gif (left ft)

What I do:
left.gif (left ft) down.gif (right ft) right.gif (right ft)

For me, that one works better and I have more of a chance of getting Perfect. With the left ft, right ft, right ft method, I usually jump the gun on the last step and get a Great.

I hate pretty much anything in So Deep Heavy, and stuff that seems to have no rhyme or rhythm to it, like the steps in the fast part of Daikenkai. They just seem to go every which way. disgust.gif

Anything that involves galloping - it's what kills me on Tsugaru. I seem to get through the gallop on Saints Go marching In, though, which is a little odd. I'm also not crazy about tons of fast steps right in a row (I'm not exactly in shape riiight.gif ), so that means I can't play Captain Jack, A (even though it's slow), or anything on Heavy. Yeah, I'm still learning.

Oh my goodness, Ordinary World has "fake triplets" No wonder I can't PA that song.

And that is so lame. It musically calls for the traditional 16th lilt pattern which is in every 5th DDR song.

Lame, DDR, go learn syncing.

I know. Why do they have to be 32nds and 64ths instead of 16ths or 12ths?

When you say that Ordinary World has "fake triplets", do you mean that they are just regular DDR triplets (quantized as 64ths), or that they are even more off, like Max 300's (which have purple notes thrown in)?

But in any case, I agree that Ordinary World should definitely have the dotted eighth + dotted eighth + eighth note rhythm instead of triplets. The person who put those triplets in there had no idea what they were doing.
