What's on your feet while playing DDR?

I always play in my socks unless I go to the arcade. I used to play in a good pair of Nikes, but now I have to buy some new ones cuz they are getting too small.

At home I play with socks since I don;t have a bar to use and I like to be able to slide, but at the arcade I play with the best/newest pair of athletic shoes i own with the best support.

I was looking for some light shoes in a shoe store in the mall I used to work at, and I came across these semi-leather lightweight velcro shoes for 17 bucks.

They don't weigh my feet down like normal shoes but they protect my feet from screws n stuff. Specially when doing expert songs.

I do like to play hard songs in bare feet because I have better timing. (No extra barrier between my foot and the button = superb timing) lol.

i play at home... on a torn pad... sooo... barefoot all the way! love the feel off w/e the hell the pads are made of on my toes... emmm... lol

I usually play in Anarchic skate shoes. Soon I'm gonna buy some Converse shoes and see how that goes, although I tried them on and my ankles were flipping out from annoyance when I walked. It bothered me. I'm not sure how that's gonna go down at the arcade.. so I'll bring my Anarchics in case I need a switch, if I even get the Converse that is.

At home (which is a lot of the time): some random pair of socks, usually white ankle ones.

At the arcade: completely white AVIAs. I think they're lucky. Once when the only pair I had available was my track shoes, I did more worse than usual. The next time I went, I had my AVIAs on, and I did loads better.

(I also have about 4 other things I wear/bring to the arcade that I consider lucky, but that's a whole nother story.)

I have a pair of Basics and I love them to death. I would never play ddr in anything but running shoes.

At Home: Barefoot, socks usually screw up the pad and make you slip

I wear combat boots with metal plates at the bottoms when I go to the arcade. It gives that good cracking sound everytime I play.

i play everything bare feet(yes even arcade, and no it doesn't hurt unless your a dumbass) except pads that...

have a VERY sticky surface
OR
have that weird materiel that gives you rug burn(like redoctanes)

my favorite materiel ever used on a soft pad: the konami soft pad material.

I've never tried before but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried rock climbing shoes? I didn't take the time to look through the other 72 pages to see if someone already asked that so sorry if they did. Here is my affirmative:

1. They are light weight
2. They are as thin and fiting as socks
3. They give you excelent flexibility for they dont have an inch of cousion on the bottom
4. The clingy rubber gives you more traction than even skate shoes
5. They breath like wadding shoes and for bare foot dancers, they are as comfortable as hell...I mean heaven <-
