True. Very true.
I don't think they suck. If they didn't exsist it would be hard to get enough practise. |

Home versions also exist because there's not an arcade everywhere (or one that doesn't suck, like mine), so people play them and ITG for PA/FA. _________________

So I leave this site for what, two months or so, and the topics are still the same. *sigh* Gg DDRFreak, I heart ya.
Home version DDR's timing window is as loose as a hooker in Vegas and its learning curve is as flat as a prepubescent teenage girl. There is no serious venue for competition, and the competitition is what drives the interests of a lot of the game. Sure, you can have a small pocket of people or close friends thinking that DDR is awesome and challenging and competitive on a home level or even at an arcade level, but the fact of the matter is the mean skill level of the average player has increased incredibly from the days when most people were barely clearing Paranoia Basic, and the difficulty of the game has not increased at the same rate. With the majority of competitive music game players searching for greener pastures in ITG/PIU/IIDX or just quitting and cabinet viability slowly disappearing with age, the interest in the game on a competitive scale is slowly being knocked out from beneath the game. With the shift of the game being focused on the casual, play-for-a-few-months-then-pick-up-a-new-game type of person rather than the harder Bemani/music game dorks looking for a new challenge, the death of competitive DDR is almost inevitable (if not already happening in many regions) and just like with any other fad, the casual DDRer will fade away as well. |

If DDR was actually dead we would not be here on this site anymore because the forums would defeat it's own purpose right. I welcome anyone's say so for what I just said. _________________

I'd say DDR STR!KE is dead, because barely anyone cares about it these days. DDR as a whole is not, however, because there may be a major comeback with DDR SuperNOVA. |

Disco is dead. Some people still like it, even though it is. _________________

Well I would say it seems like its dead around where I live because all the veterans(People who have been playin since it first came out) left around 3 years ago. Last few tourneys were when alot of people gave it up... There are a few new players but not as many...
In all honesty I think I am the only veteran around where I live remaining... No one else who still plays has been with it since first mix. Which sucks in my opinion, because now everyone askes ME instead someone else how to be good! Its easy to explain, hard to for everyone to actually do >_< |

I think DDR is dying...although it's hard to admit- i think it CAN be reversed.
almost everyone that i know hated DDR for one stupid reason or another (probably from people at their school telling them not to like it)...anyway- almost everyone I introduced to the game loved it-
if you have a home version, have friends and relatives try it at home. this will prevent them from embarassing themselves at the arcade.
have them tell other people about it!!!
More people = ddr not dead
not the best of ideas, but in my opinion, this is the only thing that will keep DDR alive...SN will help as well _________________

O RLY?
Home DDR is actually quite fun. The Perfect window may be bigger, but it's the same concept and a lot of the same songs and charts. On top of that, the last two DDR CS games have introduced several new Oni charts, as well as the option of displaying Marvs in normal gameplay, which are definitely steps in the right direction. _________________
