i dont like the bar, some people do

ive never played a 10+ song on ITG (or played itg at all for that matter) but if its anything like the pandemonium steps ive got then holding the bar is probably the best thing to do
and chances are ill probably end up doing the same when i play (600bpm on one song? oh dear frickin gawd...)

and yes, a B is a terrible grade whether bar raping or not but im trying to push a view across

i guess im also prejudiced because emos bar rape all the time and im not exactly fond of them (they stole my phone >_<)

i always just thought that being able to stand on your own two feet is a valuable attribute while playing, the bar eliminates that.

im sure im not the only one who thinks that either

What it all comes down to is who you're trying to impress.

If you socialize only with players that are ABSOLUTELY score obsessed and don't care about anything else, regardless of the effort or talent involved, you might as well start using the bar.

If you socialize only with players that are only impressed with the less tangible accomplishments, then you should probably not use the bar.

...But that's too easy of an answer, isn't it?

The fact of the matter is that you've got to stop judging yourself according to other peoples' standards. Do you say a score is more impressive without the bar, even if it's a lesser score? Well, more power to you! However, people are going to disagree with you, so get used to it. If you say that the ONLY skill involved with DDR is the score you have at the end of the song, and NOTHING else is impressive except for that, that's perfectly fine as well. But there again, people WILL disagree with you.

So, here's my tip for you. I guarantee that it make you much happier in the end. First, don't tell anyone else - or let anyone else tell YOU - what playing style isn't "good" on DDR. No one with a brain or a sense of individuality gives a shit about some other person's standards for playing. You should just decide for yourself what goals are important to YOU, and start playing that way.

OMg I used to never rape the bar like a sick lil lamb... but now a days it's gettin' outa control I use it no matter what... I only don't use it when I play my freestyle songs and on doubles.

Hi...I play DDR on heavy

I rape the bar on 6 footers sometimes....

I also speed read the hell out of most songs....3x-5x is where its at

I also have almost 70 heavy AAAs...most of which I got with the bar.

Its there money...let them play how they want...its not hurting anyone..nore will it ever.

LOL. I actually saw that today. One of the ONLY people to just get on the pad instead of waiting for me to ask them if they wanted to play [Everyone's so shy about playing with someone else >.o;;] so I let him choose the song since I like to use the 2nd pad and he chose some song I forget [but it was REALLY easy] on beginner.

..And then used the bar. And failed.

And if he had let go of the bar he would have done so much better.
But honestly if people want to use the bar I don't care I just don't see why they use it for really easy songs 'cause it usually hurts, more than helps them.

Well I was half distracted and messed it up to where only he was playing instead of both of us for that song. So there was a "WTF? Damnit." from me when I saw I wasn't going to play that song then I saw him and went "O.o;;" I was debating telling him to try it without the bar but I discovered that night how hard it can be, depending, to talk and play at the same time so I just left it alone. Then he walked off mid-song with a "F*** this."

And he was the only guy to DDR "with" me the entire night. There was a LOT of girls around 'cause these 3 guys were owning the other DDR machine so only girls wanted to play with me.

The bar is there for one reason, and that reason is grabbing it when you're already almost falling over! Thou shall not hold the bar for over 5% (4.5 seconds [As In: NO RAPING!]) of the song.

I mean, it's a game and you'll do what is fun for you, so go in peace and have fun, but if you're playing to impress people, it doesn't happen when you hold the bar.

I'll be at the arcade, and four guys jump up (at different times of course) and play 10 footers and Legend Road and rape the bar, and there'll be no crowd, and I'll be bored. But when one guy jumps up there and plays Max 300 without the bar... oh man it's a beautiful sight. And people watch too!

Honestly, Holic on heavy without the bar is more impressive than Max 300 with.

And speed mods are a sin too!
