Bandit:

Hi everyone I got some news to lay on ya.

If you goto DDRSuperNOVA.com and look at what is on the main/only page it looks very unprofessional. This got me thinking about who own's the domain.

I went to GoDaddy.com and tracked down who owned the domain. It's some guy who lives in Washington, not D.C. but State. He registered through GoDaddy as well.

Am I to believe that this will actually be the official website from Konami for DDR SuperNOVA?

So before we consider this site to be the "real" one I think that we need to see what is actually done with it in the future when some content is up. I strongly doubt that Konami has anything to do with it.

I really think that some guy heard the name and registered it before anyone else could just to try and sell it to turn a profit later.

Any Comments on this?

Agreeeeee.

(Seriously though, it might make Konami a bit irritated. Maybe, who knows. Probably not.)

The fact that you're skilled in this sort of thing for just such an occasion is kinda sad too.

Go to Godaddy.com there is a link right there. You can look up any site name and it will tell you if it's available.

Skilled at this I think not anyone can do it.

Of course it's not the official site. Konami will host the official site like they do for all their other games.

For all the people who are saying BemaniNation is sad for knowing how to find out who owns a domain, umm, it really isn't all that hard. It can be done in 3 steps for the completely clueless:

1. Go to www.whois.net
2. Enter the web address in the first box on the page
3. Press Go.

That being said, I'd never heard of ddrsupernova.com, and upon looking at it, it didn't look even remotely official to me. If a page is official, chances are it has copyright information somewhere on it, and this one doesn't. Konami already has an official site for the game, located here.

It is kind of crappy that someone just registered that domain name and doesn't appear to be doing anything with it, but that's about all I can say about it. Konami doesn't seem to be too concerned with registering domains for their games. Castlevania.com is owned by a domain-squatter right now, for example. =( Metalgearsolid.com does go to an official site, though.

Edit: Corrected number of steps. I R teh st00p1d.

And you have just as much free time to flame him, it seems. Leave the guy to do what he wants. laugh.gif You make it seem as if knowledge and free time is bad E13.gif

I, personally, haven't checked out any of the sites yet, though. But by what it sounds like, I guess when Supernova comes out, we'll see if the guy who owns the "fake" site will do anything with it. Otherwise, I'm confused laugh.gif

This kind of reminds me of the Shenmue.com scandal...

Only on much less of a scale.

Ehh... I wouldn't worry about it. It should be made eventually. In my opinion, it's something not worth complaining about

---5 minutes later---

the site is only this way, because it's a game that has only been recently started... I think. There isn't much point of getting upset. Now, if the game is released, and the site still remains the same, well yes, it is a "sham".

It doesn't take that long, though. A matter of minutes, maybe even seconds, really.

I retraced his steps. It took me 1 minute and 37 seconds to get the name and address, plus email.
