|
|
Two questions:
1) Does anyone know a good place to get decently priced and reliable jumbo buttons to use for a Pop'n Controller; I actually only need 4 blues and 5 whites (beat-pop controller FTW) if color is an issue.
2) I've heard much praise about the tx1000 control boxes for use with DDR pads, but does it have all the buttons wired needed for wiring a Pop'n Controller: O X square triangle up R1 R2 L1 L2 start select
Thanks

1) There are sites out there that have them for $8 a bubble.. Thats the cheapest I have seen, I dont know the exact sites tho.
2) use a dualshock controller to wire it to. you need to solder like 2 buttons down to make it register as a pop'n controller. _________________

Yea, I was already planning on just using an official PS1 controller, but i know of the possible static problems with dance pads using a reg controller and heard that the TX1000 prevents these problems, so I figured I find out some info on it first. I doubt the pop'n controller will create as much static, if any, but I figured to try and prevent any problems before hand. _________________

There's a good thread on building Pop'n controllers over on bemanistyle; you should probably check that out. Lots of tips on where to buy buttons, what controllers to use, etc. I don't know about whether that control box has the necessary pinout, but I would guess that it probably doesn't. Also, be careful not to use a controller with analog sticks. Just causes problems. Stick with the digital-only pads and you should be okay. |

I'm pretty sure you don't need to worry about static if you don't build dancepads. And a TX controlbox doesn't offer all the needed buttons anyways |

You need 3 to be grounded in order for it to see it as a popn controller: Up, Left, and Down. Nothing attached to them, just a dab of solder will do. I learned of this when I opened my Ransai to fix a loose lightbulb because it made the button feel weird. I don't know anything else about making PNM controllers, other than you should also make craters so that the black ring on the button is flush with the box. Bemani style will give you A LOT of help.
There is NO static at all with popn or beatmania controllers, as they're normally played on a surface or stand and there aren't that big of gaps in the controller. I zapped myself on the AC jack a few time and the PNM controller still works.

on the note of static problems, whats the deal? Ive used a pair of non dual shock PSX controllers for metal dance pads for almost 7 months now without issue. |
