Aye you can PM me too about the group sort as Rodent works on a time schedule on the other end of the world. Credit does go to Rodent and his friends l33t hex editing skills.

edit: better yet IM me (edgar131) I'm more likely to get back to you faster and actually do something for you if you speak to me.

for those looking to be able to repack data, linked within is a utility to repck data, and one to make a pck.idx (for beta1)
these are not the most recent versions, but they work
next version will be released when build14 of itg pc takes new pcks and likes them

to Ugge, sorry about blatently ripping your code for the extractor

http://rapidshare.de/files/19777009/PCKv2PackingUtils.rar.html

has anyone had any luck decompiling the lua code in the scripts yet?

I just have a question about repck'ing data for the ps2 version:

After repck'ing the songs I wish to add, what needs to be edited in order for the game to recognize that the songs are there: the static.ini, the pck.idx, or something else?

All ya gotta do is put that new pack in with the other packs and use the pck suite's idx wrapper and make a new pck.idx file and overwrite the old one.

Does anyone know of a way to work the PC hack for beta3? Maybe the repacker? Betas 2 and 3 don't have pck.idx files, so the make-the-index-empty-and-change-preferences.ini trick doesn't work.

Actually, Beta 2 and maybe 3 will read a pck.idx if its there, so that trick might still work.

I haven't tested it, though.

Tried it. Beta3 might read an idx if you put it there; however, the pcks it looks for are hard-coded. Repacking won't work, because the names of the files have to match two things: One, the name the program is looking for, and two, the hash of the file it's naming. I don't have any clue what the hash is but I'm 95% sure it isn't MD5, since there are countless libraries out there that could calculate it.

the hash for the filename is based on the pck description
even if you repck the same data into a pck with the same filename, and same description, beta 3 will still not like it, pretty sure it has hardcoded filesizes or something else in the program
even just adding a pck with proper name for the description will not work, as it appears that itg b3 will just ignore it, same applies if you give a valid pck.idx
i would say that the pck.idx is hardcoded, but then it should crash saying unindexed pck found, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know

also using a utility called ChunkSpy (see luaforge) it is possible to decompile the compiled lua in the theme ini/xml, you need a little lua knowledge to reassemble into a readable script again, but its not too hard

i would like to make a knowledge contribution.

Every time you make a "mix", all the previous records get "lost", in other words, each game has its own save on the same slot on the memory card..and when you add songs to the new mix the game creates a new save. this is know by everybody.
But yesterday i created a new mix with a lot of stepmania songs (219), and i put the songs in one songs folder already created....i didnt create a new folder for the new songs, i just put them in for example :"itg2", and guess what....all the records from the previous mix were kept for the new disc.

so..thats it.
i hope you guys understood that...jeje
bye

jaime

thanks jaimonkey,

as far as i investigated, this only is true, if you also change something inside static.ini and metrics.ini and .lua files.

should be no problem with "adding" songs only,
as the savegame then only gets updated, and not overwritten.

at least thats my experience.

Also we,
Team OpenGroove have some kind of announcement to spread:

We merge with another great team.
This another Team has also made parallel to us some great progress with a great team behind.

We think a merge will not only double, but multiply the effort we will make together.

So expect not only good, but the best and hottest stuff soon from the new "us"

@ZOMGillusion: I have no idea. It should work fine if your ITG disc still works and your DVD rom drive works with other discs.

@Tee!: I'm too lazy to PM right now. What's your problem?

Would it really matter if I check the "generate cache" box when I make my PCK file because when I do check it,it says that it cant generate certain files. And I get the same error every time I try it.

Yes. The game will not boot if you do not check that box.
